10. San Estanislao
Named after a Polish saint, founded by Spanish Jesuits, intended to convert the native Guarani Indian peoples of San Pedro in central Paraguay, and infused with the cultures of immigrants from Italy, Germany and Eastern Europe throughout the last two centuries, the pint-sized yet interesting little stop-off of San Estanislao is like the history of the country writ small.
9. Filadelfia
Filadelfia sits just on the edge of the Gran Chaco, where the forests and undulating hills of the Region Oriental give way to the great boreal plains that form the very heartlands of the continent as a whole.That makes this far-flung town – the so-called ‘Capital of the Chaco – a very different place to the small southern cities of Aregua and Itaugua.

Famed for its distinctive tribal art and traditional Paraguayan folk music scene, the small city of Itaugua is a great place to while away a few days as you make your way through the very heart of South America.

Just a short drive from the heart of the buzzing downtown streets of Asuncion, and now almost contiguous with the capital thanks to the ceaseless expansion of its outer suburbs, little, lakeside Aregua is a fine place to go to escape the heat and energy of Paraguay’s only real metropolis.
6. Yaguaron
This small backwater town set in the shadow of the bulbous cliffs and rocky hills just south of the capital at Asuncion began life as a Spanish mission intended as a settlement spot for the Guarani natives back in the early decades of the 1600s.
5. Ybycui National Park
Capuchin monkeys swing through the canopies while howlers scale the tree trunks at Ybycui National Park, a small and tight-knit protected section of what’s remaining of the Upper Parana Atlantic Forest. Most travelers make the relatively short 150 kilometer drive here straight from the capital, eager to see the gushing waterfalls that cascade down through the rocky undergrowth of the forests in steps and plunge pools.
4. Ciudad del Este
Like a Moroccan bazaar, the markets of Ciudad del Este sprawl out along the courses of the Parana River, the sounds of Middle Eastern hagglers and Taiwanese electronics hawkers echoing between the rows and rows of blinking electronics and branded clothes.
3. Cerro Cora National Park
This pint-sized natural reserve is unquestionably one of the most dramatic and breathtaking sections of backcountry in all of Paraguay. Only recently established, it encompasses a great swathe of undulating savannah and highland terrain, where otherworldly hills peak above the swaying grasses and mosquitoes buzz around the shuffling carapaces of armadillos.

The so-called ‘Pearl of the South’ reclines carefree on the banks of the Parana River, drawing crowds of Asuncenos (people from the capital) during the summer with the promise of pristine riparian beaches and the country’s most up-and-coming boardwalk boulevard.

Ciudad del Este es una ciudad localizada al extremo este de la Región Oriental de la República del Paraguay. Es la capital del departamento de Alto Paraná y está situada a 327 km de la capital del país —Asunción—, conectada por la Ruta PY02. Se une con Brasil a través del Puente Internacional de la Amistad sobre el río Paraná. Es la ciudad más grande dentro de la región denominada Triple Frontera, conformada con Foz de Iguazú, Brasil, y Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, que constituyen un aglomerado transnacional de casi un millón de habitantes. En cercanías de la ciudad se encuentran la Represa de Itaipú, una de las centrales hidroeléctricas más grandes del mundo; y las Cataratas del Iguazú, una de las maravillas del mundo natural.

Ciudad del Este se caracteriza por ser una ciudad comercial y últimamente industrial. Es la principal ciudad de turismo de compras más importante del país. Diariamente muchos turistas, en especial brasileños y argentinos, cruzan el Puente de la Amistad en la frontera para comprar en Ciudad del Este.6 Tiene consulados de Argentina, Brasil, Perú, Uruguay, España, Francia, Alemania, Italia, Eslovaquia, Siria, Turquía y Taiwán.7
El Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní, segundo aeropuerto más importante del país y ubicada en la ciudad vecina Minga Guazú, sirve a Ciudad del Este. Es también hogar del Club Atlético 3 de Febrero, que cuenta con el Estadio Antonio Aranda, el cual fue utilizado para la Copa América 1999 y es el tercer estadio más grande del fútbol paraguayo.8 La ciudad es sede de la segunda universidad estatal más importante, la Universidad Nacional del Este, y de otras universidades importantes como la Universidad Privada del Este y la Universidad Internacional Tres Fronteras.

If you are like me 2 days ago, then you know nothing about Paraguay -- so my goal in this video is to introduce and open you mind to this hidden subtropical nation (and culture) in 3 minutes!!
If I am being 100% honest with you, I had very low expectations going into this trip... Most people I know who have been to Paraguay, told me it's boring and not worth my time to visit. Well, I was proven wrong! I love going to places that most people don't visit. It excites me more than anything else.
I was lucky enough to meet up with 2 friends who reached out on Instagram, Niko and his uncle Hernan, who picked me up from the airport and drove me all around Asunción and the countryside for 2 days. We ate amazing food, walked around the city, went to some markets and more -- and it was a lot of fun! I learned a lot about the most homogeneous culture in South America.

Here I share with you guys my travel and shopping guide to me mecca for Chinese products in South America, CIUDAD DEL ESTE PARAGUAY, one of the biggest commercial hubs in the Americas and definitely one of South America`s largest and most controversial.
