Rivers of the World: Ob River.
If we take the length total of the main tributary (Irtysh), the Ob becomes the longest river in the country. The water system formed by it connects the southern semi-desert with the Arctic tundra. However, the length of the Ob channel alone is inferior to the Lena. Its value is 3,650 kilometers. And in terms of its fullness, it has to yield to it. But it is also second only to the Yenisei. Because this hydrological object has enough tributaries - 32 (not counting brooks). Therefore, the total area of its catchment area is staggering - 2,990,000 square kilometers! The main arms are Irtysh, Peschanaya, Anuy, Tom, Chumysh, Charysh, Ket and Berd. But the width on the first position among all Russian watercourses - up to 80 km. There (in the lower reaches) is also fixed and the greatest depth - up to 20 meters. The direction of the river is north, with a big bend to the west in the last third of the way. Feeding predominantly by snow. The water flow rate is 12,492 cubic meters per second. The channel crosses only RF: Altai Krai, Novosibirsk and Tomsk Oblasts, as well as Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs.
