Hidden Russia : Terem at Astashovo REMOTE WOOD PALACE MUSEUM HOTEL deep in woods and ghost villages
Deep in the woods east of Chukhloma is the Terem Astashovo Wood Palace Hotel. This is a beautifully restored Wood Palace, only accessible by 30km of off roading, now used as a hotel with outdoor recreational activities. The interior is just as elaborate and like staying in a museum.

Arkhangelsk-the city of Russia Arkhangelsk, or Archangel in English, is a city and the administrative center of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia. It lies on both banks of the Northern Dvina River near its exit into the White Sea in the far north of European Russia. City districts spread for over along the banks of the river and numerous islands of its delta. Arkhangelsk was the chief seaport of medieval Russia. It is served by Talagi Airport and the smaller Vaskovo Airport. The city is located at the end of a long railroad, connecting it to Moscow via Vologda and Yaroslavl. Population:

Hidden Russia : VERY REMOTE WOOD MANSION with NO ROAD ACCESS where local still lives - RARE FOOTAGE!
Deep in the forest of Chukhloma completely inaccessible by any roads is a rustic run down Pogorelovo Wood Mansion built in 1903. A local still lives in this run down home since the 1970s and is happy to give you a tour if you can trek in the mud for 3kms each way and cross a frozen river to get here. The interior is stunningly amazing and a contract to the restored Astashevo Wood Palace Museum hotel I was staying in.

Deep in the woods of Astashovo off roading we explore an abandoned country home. The Russian countryside is sadly littered with many such homes and abandoned Churches. This was reminiscent of the abandoned homes in Chernobyl.
