The Lower Anaicut or Anaikkarai is a dam and bridge built on the Kollidam in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was built in 1902 by the colonial administration of the Madras Presidency for irrigating the erstwhile South Arcot district. Stones from the ruins of Gangaikonda Cholapuram were used to construct the dam.
The Periyanayagi Ammam Temple situated in the center of Devikapuram village. This temple is built by the Vijayanagara Emperor in the 14th century. This is the second largest temple after Tiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar Temple.
The Karaivetti Bird Sanctuary is a 4.537-square-kilometre protected area located in the Ariyalur District of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The sanctuary is about 25 kilometres from Thanjavur. This freshwater lake is fed by Pullambadi, Kattalal canal and attracts thousands of birds every year.

Brihadishvara Temple (originally known as Peruvudaiyar Kovil), locally known as Thanjai Periya Kovil, and also called Rajarajeswaram, is a Shaivite Dravidian styled temple dedicated to Shiva. It is one of the largest Hindu temples and an exemplary example of a fully realized Tamil architecture. It is called as Dakshina Meru (Meru of south).Built by Chola emperor Rajaraja I between 1003 and 1010 AD, the temple is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Great Living Chola Temples, along with the Chola dynasty era Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple and Airavatesvara temple that is about 70 kilometres (43 mi) and 40 kilometres (25 mi) to its northeast respectively
A spectrum of Hindu temple styles continued to develop from the fifth to the ninth century over the Chalukya era rule as evidenced in Aihole, Badami and Pattadakal, and then with the Pallava era as witnessed at Mamallapuram and other monuments. Thereafter, between 850 and 1280 CE, Cholas emerged as the dominant dynasty.[2][22] The early Chola period saw a greater emphasis on securing their geopolitical boundaries and less emphasis on architecture. In the tenth century, within the Chola empire emerged features such as the multifaceted columns with projecting square capitals. This, states George Michell, signaled the start of the new Chola style.[2][note 1] This South Indian style is most fully realized both in scale and detail in the Brihadeshwara temple built between 1003 and 1010 by the Chola king Rajaraja I.

Just go inside and touch every pillar, look at the stone carvings, wonder at the art of story telling and how the legacy of an empire and people described in those structures.
Look at the intensity of faith in humans to patiently build these structures with so much of artistry, perfection and craftsmanship. Temple lets you explore yourself a bit more. When you sit alone in a temple and every now and then hear a bell sound it kindles an unknown feeling and unexplainable peace inside you.
I am so proud to be in India, not only because its my country, the people who live in this sand have some intensity, an eye and knowledge beyond the being, have a very close relationship with nature, have brains that can build such marvels.
