An der Grenze zu Frankreich und dem Aostatal gelegen erstreckt sich die Provinz Turin über das Pinerolo, das malerische Susatal, das Canavese und das Hügelland im Osten und Süden der Regionalhauptstadt.
Das Gebiet ist durch eine Reihe von unterschiedlichen Landschaften geprägt: herrliche Skigebiete in den Alpen, weite Wiesen und Weiden, Wälder und große Weinbaugebiete. Das gesamte Gebiet trägt deutliche Spuren der langen Regierungszeit des Hauses Savoyen, zu denen die wunderschönen, von weitläufigen Parks umgebenen Residenzen des Hauses Savoyen rechnen, die von der UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt wurden.
Doch der stärkste Ausdruck der Macht Savoyens ist Turin selbst. Die vielseitige Stadt kombiniert wie in einem Freilichtmuseum barocke Bauten, Denkmäler, die mit der großartigen Vergangenheit zusammenhängen, und zeitgenössische Architektur: eine dynamische Stadt, in der unterschiedliche Realitäten harmonisch koexistieren.
Unzählige weitere Kleinode hat die Provinz zu bieten: von großen Festungen wie der Festung Fenestrelle und der Festung Exilles, die auf steilen Bergen thronen, bis zu Abteien, die sich am alten Frankenweg entlang ziehen oder abgeschieden in der Natur liegen wie der berühmte Sacra di San Michele, eines der eindrucksvollsten Denkmäler des Piemont.
Historische Städte liegen im ganzen Gebiet verstreut und sind die Hüter alter Traditionen, wie etwa Ivrea mit seinem bemerkenswerten Kunsterbe, Susa, Chivasso, Chieri etc. bis hin zum kleinen Dorf Mélezet, das kostbare Kunstschätze aus dem 15. Jahrhundert birgt.
Die regionale Küche ist einzigartig: Köstliche Gerichte, traditionelle Rezepte, ausgezeichnete Weine und die berühmte Gianduia-Schokolade bieten für jeden Geschmack etwas.
Überraschungen behält sich dieses Land, in dem Geschichte, Kultur und Natur eine extrem faszinierende Einheit bilden, noch viel weitere vor.
