From Wikipedia:
Chickasha /ˈtʃɪkəʃeɪ/ is a city in and the county seat of Grady County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 16,051 at the 2020 census, a 0.1% increase from 2010. Chickasha is home to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. The city is named for and strongly connected to Native American heritage, as Chickasha (Chikashsha) is the Choctaw word for Chickasaw.

Chickasha was founded by Hobart Johnstone Whitley, a land developer, banker, farmer and Rock Island Railroad executive. The founding took place in 1892 when the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway (Rock Island) built a track through Indian Territory. A post office was established in June 1892. One of the earliest industrial plants to come to Chickasha was the Chickasha Cotton Oil Company, which was established in 1899. The town incorporated in 1902.

At the time of its founding, Chickasha was located in Pontotoc County, Chickasaw Nation.

In 1908, the Oklahoma Industrial Institute and College for Girls was established in Chickasha. A local rancher named J. B. Sparks donated land for the school in memory of his daughter, Nellie. The girl was a Chickasaw descendant, and the land had been part of her allotment. The Nellie Sparks Dormitory commemorated her. The school was renamed as the Oklahoma College for Women in 1916. It became coeducational in 1965, and was renamed the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts. It was renamed again in 1975 as the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.[8]

The Wilson and Bonfis Flying School opened in October 1941 to train cadets of the U.S. Army Air Force. Over eight thousand cadets completed training there during World War II. After the war, the facility became the Chickasha Municipal Airport.

Also during the war, the army built and used Borden General Hospital. This site now contains Grady Memorial Hospital, Five Oaks Medical Group, Southern Plains Medical Center and Borden Park.

A prisoner of war camp established in 1944 is now the site of the Grady County Fairgrounds.

CHICKASAW NATIONAL RECREATION AREA | SULPHUR, OKLAHOMA

Day 26 of our road trip we spend about half a day in Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur, Oklahoma. We didn't realize there was so much history in this area. This park was originally Sulphur Springs Reservation in 1902, with bath houses because in the late 1800's early 1900's people used hot springs to bathe in and drink because they thought they provided healing. 4 years later it became Platt National Park (1906) then in 1976 it was redesignated as a National Recreation area. We viewed a few springs and some man-made waterfalls/dams that the CCC constructed in this park.

MAP OF OKLAHOMA

hello my friends. this is a map of beautiful oklahoma. Oklahoma is the 20th-largest state in the United States, covering an area of 69,899 square miles, with 68,595 square miles of land and 1,304 square miles of water. It lies partly in the Great Plains near the geographical center of the 48 contiguous states. It is bordered on the east by Arkansas and Missouri, on the north by Kansas, on the northwest by Colorado, on the far west by New Mexico, and on the south and near-west by Texas.
Oklahoma is between the Great Plains and the Ozark Plateau in the Gulf of Mexico watershed, generally sloping from the high plains of its western boundary to the low wetlands of its southeastern boundary. Its highest and lowest points follow this trend, with its highest peak, Black Mesa, at 4,973 feet above sea level, situated near its far northwest corner in the Oklahoma Panhandle. The state's lowest point is on the Little River near its far southeastern boundary near the town of Idabel, which dips to 289 feet above sea level. hey, please comment if you have been to oklahoma. continuing...

Among the most geographically diverse states, Oklahoma is one of four to harbor more than 10 distinct ecological regions, with 11 in its borders—more per square mile than in any other state. Its western and eastern halves, however, are marked by extreme differences in geographical diversity: Eastern Oklahoma touches eight ecological regions and its western half contains three. Although having fewer ecological regions Western Oklahoma contains many rare, relic species.

Oklahoma has four primary mountain ranges: the Ouachita Mountains, the Arbuckle Mountains, the Wichita Mountains, and the Ozark Mountains. Contained within the U.S. Interior Highlands region, the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains are the only major mountainous region between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachians. A portion of the Flint Hills stretches into north-central Oklahoma, and near the state's eastern border, The Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department regards Cavanal Hill as the world's tallest hill; at 1,999 feet, it fails their definition of a mountain by one foot.

The semi-arid high plains in the state's northwestern corner harbor few natural forests; the region has a rolling to flat landscape with intermittent canyons and mesa ranges like the Glass Mountains. Partial plains interrupted by small, sky island mountain ranges like the Antelope Hills and the Wichita Mountains dot southwestern Oklahoma; transitional prairie and oak savannas cover the central portion of the state. The Ozark and Ouachita Mountains rise from west to east over the state's eastern third, gradually increasing in elevation in an eastward direction.

More than 500 named creeks and rivers make up Oklahoma's waterways, and with 200 lakes created by dams, it holds the nation's highest number of artificial reservoirs. Most of the state lies in two primary drainage basins belonging to the Red and Arkansas rivers, though the Lee and Little rivers also contain significant drainage basins. thanks for listening. please subscribe for the best maps and for the love of oklahoma. #oklahoma #oklahomamap

Hi, my name is Rally. I’m living in The United States of America. I make videos about American Culture, Food, Lifestyle, and Travel. So join me with my journey, travel in USA. I make videos about American Culture, Food, Lifestyle, and Travel. So join me with my journey, travel in USA. Gorgeous place and beautiful weather! Perfect way to walk around and explore.

I introduced a beautiful American national park that is not known to many people. Things to do in Oklahoma things to do near Dallas things to do for free things to do outside free things to do things to do on a budget kid friendly things to do hiking hiking in Oklahoma hiking in chickasaw national recreation area Chickasaw Indians Chickasaw nation. This Chickasaw Recreation Area in OK USA is located in National Park, perfect spot for summer swimming and hiking in Oklahoma USA.There is no entrance fee to the park so you can enjoy the hiking trails, swimming, and fishing (with a license) for free! In this video we explore the Nature Center, Chickasaw Cultural Center, Little Niagara, springs in Sulphur and different hiking trails.

In the mid-1800s, the Chickasha settled in the south-central region of Oklahoma, USA. If you have not seen the previous video, please watch it.The area where Chickasaw settled is beautiful with sulfur mineral water, lakes, valleys, wild life, and nature. It was well developed and opened to the public for free.

It is said that the food is delicious in the Winery, a place worth going. It is very beautiful for a day road trip in the fall, but in the summer, Dallas people come very much to camp. It's also very good for hiking with family. It's healing just by looking at it. Right now, the most popular Little Niagara is here. It's also a very beautiful place to drive. If you visit to the Nature Center, there are many things to learn and see. It is even better if you come with children.

I saw a deer and wildlife armadillos at the Chickasaw Recreation Area. It is an endangered animal, but it is very strange to see it alive. The armadillo is an American wild animal with a carapace. In case of danger, it curls up into a ball to protect itself. It is difficult to see live armadillos as their numbers have decreased, endangered.
