5 Things American Tourists Shouldn't Wear in Europe

Grab some of our gear

Please Note: Young People Wear Many of These Styles Throughout Europe. These tips are geared toward 35+ year old travelers. Thanks for watching!

Grab a Wolters World Shirt

Heading to Europe & Not Sure What to Pack? Here are a few things that my fellow US travelers may want to avoid packing if they are traveling to Europe.
1. Baseball Caps: Europeans in general do not wear baseball caps, especially backwards. You would be better served to wear a more traditional hat. You will see an occasional NY Yankee hat, but why not buy the fancy hat you always wanted instead?
2. Athletic Wear: Europeans tend to wear athletic wear to do sports, not to wear around town. There is a trend of more athleisurewear in Europe, but it is not to the extent that there is in US.
3. Khakis: the omnipresent US male pant choice is not something you will see too often in Europe. Go for colored pants or jeans. If you want khaki like pants wear Chinos instead of Dockers. The pants you will see are a thinner cut or skinnier fit than in the US.
4. Oversized US University Sweatshirts.
5. Sport Shoes or High Heals: US sport shoes and white socks are not quite as popular in Europe as they are in the US. You may be better off with Urban Street shoes like Vans instead. Also, women should be careful with high heels as with all the cobblestone it is easy to hurt your ankles.

Top 10 SWISS Villages 2022 – Most beautiful Towns in SWITZERLAND – Best Places [Travel Guide]

Switzerland charms with the amazing Alps but… also with its many wonderful VILLAGES. Switzerland has been attracting so many tourists from all over the world, who seek to go for hiking, climbing mountains, refueling themselves at the many lakes and for many other reasons. A major reason, why many tourists come to Switzerland have always been the many well preserved villages. Despite the small size of Switzerland, this country is full of such villages… but even more fascinating is the diversity among them! In this video, the Top 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL Villages of Switzerland for the Year 2022 will be presented in detail. While you may be familiar with some villages on this list, I am sure, there will be many villages you might never have heard of. This is likely the most detailed travel guide video about Swiss villages here on YouTube! Visit Romainmôtier in the Jura Vaudois; a wonderful historic village. Romainmôtier is hosting a beautiful abbey with the oldest romanesque church of Switzerland. Explore the nearby attractions around Romainmôtier: cascade de nozon, caves at Vallorbe or de Tine de Conflens. Very enjoyable is also Diessenhofen. It's the non-touristy alternative to the more known village of Stein am Rhein. Diessenhofen is located at the shore of the river Rhine. A wonderful Swiss village with a beautiful wooden bridge and great vibes. BAUEN is the hidden gem Swiss village on this list! It's located at Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and charms with its warm climate. Bauen is full of palm trees and beautiful houses. Bauen is furthermore the home town of the composer of the Swiss national anthem. Visit La Neuveville in the canton of Berne in the Jura 3 lakes region. It's an old town with many beautiful houses. In La Neuveville, you may experience medieval vibes. SCHWELLBRUNN in Appenzell is a very cultural place. It was awarded the most beautiful village of Switzerland in 2017. Schwellbrunn is great to visit during Winter and Summer. In September, they host a cow show, a typical Swiss tradition. Do not forget to visit Schwellbrunn on 31st of December: During the early morning there will be Silvesterklausen. Foroglio is a small Swiss village in Ticino. Foroglio is very attractive with its large waterfall and the many traditional stone houses. Visit Foroglio when you come to the Val Bavona and also proceed to Sonlerto; the non-touristy alternative. Both traditional villages are stunning to visit! Soglio is another village that is less-visited. It’s located in Eastern Switzerland, in the Italian speaking part of Graubünden. Soglio is a very calm and quiet village at where you may enjoy many great views over the Swiss Alps as well as hiking trails. Grimentz, my favorite Swiss village is what I consider the perfectly stereotypically Swiss village you could visit! Grimentz is full of traditional wooden houses that are all decorated with beautiful flowers. There is a very nice creek passing through the village, a great photo spot. Grimentz is a must visit for anyone who loves to visit villages! MORCOTE has been awarded as the Top most beautiful village of Switzerland in 2016. It’s located in Ticino at Lake Lugano. Morcote is built at a hill; enjoy the promenade along the lake or hiking up to the church or even higher. The view down to the village of Morcote is stunning. A great place to not miss out! ISELTWALD is the most beautiful Swiss Village on this Top 10 list. The village is located in the Berner Oberland at Lake Brienz. Iseltwald is full of beautiful houses concentrating around the bay. Walk along the promenade or pier or enjoy the castle of Iseltwald. Iseltwald is great to reach by boat from Interlaken or Brienz. Stay at Iseltwald to enjoy serenity and experience one of the most authentic Swiss villages! Watch the FULL Video in 4K!

Chiavenna city tour and crossing the border to Switzerland

Lately Audrey and I have seen a shift in our travel preference from larger urban centers to more remote quiet towns. Coming from Milan to Chiavenna allowed us to slow down the pace of our travels and really get to experience what this quaint town situated in the Italian Alps has to offer. During the two days we spent here we had an opportunity to visit an Italian castle, a grotto restaurant, an artisan's workshop and attend the Bresaola festival just to name a few. One of the highlights was waking up early enough to drive across to Switzerland to eat some Swiss chocolate and snap a few photos of the ice capped mountains in the distance. Out of all the places I had a chance to visit in Italy I liked Chiavenna the most and would gladly return again someday in the future.

Chiavenna city tour and crossing the border to Switzerland:

So Hello again from Italy! Today we are visiting a town called Chiavenna which is just two hours by train from Milan. A super easy day trip and it is a beautiful town. Very colorful, so we're going to be showing you some of the attractions around town as well as the outskirts.

So next up we're about to visit Palazzo Vertemate Franchi. So let's go in and find out who used to live here.

This Renaissance masterpiece was commissioned by the Vertemate Franchi family, which was one of the wealthiest families in the area. Within the walls of their property you'll find manicured Italian gardens, a chestnut grove, an array of fruit trees, and even a vineyard. Needless to say, this place would have been quite impressive back in the 16th century.

So I've learned two things about this palace. First off, they have the only walled vineyard in all of Chiavenna. And I also learned that the family had their own chapel because they were very noble and didn't like mixing with the commoners at the local church service.

After touring the outside, we went inside the palazzo where we found painted ceilings, secret compartments meant for spying, and tiny beds because apparently people used to sleep seated and propped on pillows back in the day.

So we are standing next to the portrait of Aloisius who was a member of the family. Now apparently he was a bit of a womanizer. He really liked the ladies and these days his ghost roams the halls looking for women. So beware if you visit.

We also made sure to have a drink at the nearby fountain of youth.

Apparently if you drink this water you're going to be young and healthy the rest of your life. So I'm going to go have some. Maybe have a bath in there. I could use a bath.

We then visited the Acquafraggia Waterfalls which were visited by Leonardo Da Vinci himself. Apparently he was so impressed by their beauty that he even wrote about them in his journal.

From there we headed to a local artisan's workshop who works with pietra ollare - a local stone that he uses to create both art and cooking pots.

Speaking Italian.

And because we suffer from just-one-more-country-syndrome, we couldn't resist crossing a nearby border. Yes, we went to Switzerland!

Where we were based in Italy we were only 10 kilometers away from Switzerland so we thought why not drive over here and pickup some chocolate. Yum! Swiss chocolate!

So I'm going to try my Swiss chocolate in Switzerland. We chose some beautiful views over here. Trust me, there are mountains covered in snow. It is just that the fog is rolling in at the moment but it is a pretty setting.

Anyways, time for the chocolate. And look, it opens like an envelope. I broke the envelope. Fancy. The chocolate is like a letter in the envelope. Oh la lah.

Swiss chocolate. It is so innovative. And this is milk chocolate I believe. Wow, that looks thick.

And that's a wrap for our time in Chiavenna. It was a short and sweet visit, but it made us hungry to come back to the Alps!

This is part of our Travel in Italy series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Italian culture, Italian arts, Italian foods, Italian religion, Italian cuisine and Italian people.

Acquafraggia's Waterfalls like you've never seen - Beautiful Destinations - Val Chiavenna - Italy

A Very different way of showcasing these amazing waterfalls , maybe a little bit crowded , but still an impressive view of what nature can be .

A little backstory ... i arrived at 10.30 am to these waterfalls, but because it's august ... they were already crowded , so took some Mavic shots and went for another destination, came back at 4 PM ... but there was a lot of people ... even tho the sky was covered in clouds ... so i waited, rain started to pour down ... not much ... but people didn't want to leave ... and i waited ...
at 7 pm ... sky was completely covered in clouds, only a bunch of people was left , suddenly a hole in those clouds .... as soon as i got few rays of sun dropping down on the waterfalls i decided it was green light...
and this is my first FPV Waterfalls dive

Totally terrified for soft targets still present in my flight area , and the presence of some wind and a lot of waters coming off the waterfalls ...

USCHIONE piccolo borgo in VALCHIAVENNA
