Tampara Lake is a 300-hectare (740-acre) fresh water lake situated on the right bank of the Rushikulya , near Chhatrapur, the district headquarters of Ganjam district, Odisha, India. Tampara Lke is 23 km (14 mi) from the city of Brahmapur. Tampara fresh water lake is connected to the Rushikulya River. Tampara resort and OTDC hotel are there for night stay. Boating facility is available in Tampara Lake.

Chhatrapur (also spelt as Chatarpur) is a town and a Notified Area Council since 1955 in Ganjam district in the state of Odisha, India. It is the district headquarters town of Ganjam district. Chhatrapur is a Tehsil / Block (CD) in the Ganjam District of Odisha. According to Census 2011 information the sub-district code of Chhatrapur block is 03085. Total area of Chhatrapur is 124 km2 (48 sq mi) including 119.92 km2 (46.30 sq mi) rural area and 4.40 km2 (1.70 sq mi) urban area. Chhatrapur has a population of 94,683 people. There are 20,415 houses in the sub-district. There are about 46 villages in Chhatrapur block.

Morethan 250 years old #Potagada #Fort which stands as a witness to the history of Odisha. The oldest Fort of Ganjam District is situated in the bank of Rusukulya River.
Potagada is 142km away from state capital Bhubaneswar, 32km away from silk city Brahmapur, 10km away from Chatrapur and 445km away from Rourkela.
Potagada Fort is situated near Headquarters of Ganjam District Chatrapur Twon.
After about 30 minutes journey from my home town Brahmapur, I reached at Odisha's oldest and mysterious place.
When we see the history of odisha, the role of potagad will be more special.
According to some articles this place built by Chodaganga Deva 250 years ago which is in the mouth of Rusukulya river, and it is believed that diffirent kings of India have ruiled here.
This place is a deserted tourist spot under Odisha Tourism, although there have been many developements here and it is going to happen even further. Very soon this place will be considered as one of the very best tourist spot of Ganjam district.

Tampara Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the
State. The beautiful lake & the nearby Chilika Lagoon highlight
the ecological diversity Odisha is blessed with. While Tampara
is a fresh water lake, Chilika is a brackish water lagoon. The
fact that Tampara is mostly secluded adds to its novelty.
While you are at Tampara Lake, indulge in a leisurely boat ride, the serenity of the lake provides the perfect setting to enjoy a moment of solitude. For the thrill seekers water scooters are available on rent to satiate the adrenalin rush.

Road Transport Berhampur is well connected by rail & road network. Get down at Berhampur & take the bus enroute to Bhubaneswar/Khurda along NH16. Get down at Chatrapur & take an auto to Tampara Lake.
