A Day in Berlin – What you MUST See: Join Alemanizando on a Special Tour Through the German Capital
What can you do if you have just one day in Berlin? Well, Elissa and Rodrigo from @Alemanizandohave some tips for you! They take you to some famous places and to a few hidden spots in the German capital — like its smallest street.
The Berlin-based couple from Brazil start at the Brandenburg Gate and then go for breakfast in one of Berlin’s major attractions: the Reichstag building. And of course they also visit its glass dome.
Their next stops are the Unter den Linden boulevard, Humboldt University, Bebelplatz and Museum Island. Another hot tip is the Nikolaiviertel, Berlin’s oldest residential quarter. From there it’s just a short walk to Alexanderplatz, where most people would go up to the top of Germany’s tallest building, the TV Tower, to get a good view over the city. But Elissa and Rodrigo have a cheaper workaround for you to get a great alternative view from above!
Not far away on Karl-Marx-Allee — the “first socialist street” on German soil — they feel a bit like they’re in Russia. No wonder, if you see the architecture that dates back to the East Germany era. Then it’s time for dinner in the popular Friedrichshain district before they end their tour at the East Side Gallery, which is both the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall and also the longest open-air gallery in the world.

Berlin is way more then just a party hotspot. There are lots of historic buildings to see when you visit the German capital. DW reporter Hannah Hummel shows you three of her favorite castles in Berlin. And the best thing is, you can visit all of them in just one day! Hannah takes you from the Mediterranean-style Glienicke Palace to the royal baroque Charlottenburg Palace and on to the remote Grunewald Hunting Lodge Palace.

A 775-year-old city has much more to offer than merely a trip. Berlin, the capital of Germany, is one of the busiest cities in the world right now. The city extends an open invitation to thousands of visitors from around the globe to come and experience the most enduring and vibrant culture in the annals of human civilization. The split city has a lot to teach its tourists because it was the scene of several historical events that altered the course of world history, the birthplace of heroes of incomparable bravery, wars, revolutions, and much more.
10. Academy of Arts.
King Frederick established what was then known as the Prussian Academy of Arts in 1697. When the Prussian Treasury bought it in 1902, it became known as the Academy of Arts. One of the best places to visit in Berlin, Germany, it is one of the architectural structures in Germany that has undergone numerous political changes.
9. Berlin Cathedral.
One of the top attractions in Berlin is the Protestant Berlin Cathedral, which is situated on Museum Island. It is one of the oldest buildings and was initially constructed in 1465 on the Spree River's banks as a parish church.
8. Memorial to The Murdered Jews of Europe.
The phrase Holocaust Memorial alone sends shivers down people's spines. This memorial sits silently in memory of the thousands of Jews who perished because of the Nazi Holocaust during the Second World War, serving as a reminder of the darkest chapter in the history of human civilization.
7. Jewish Museum.
The Jewish Museum, a symbol of German-Jewish history, is one of Berlin's most interesting attractions. The museum, which consists of three buildings, captured the period of Jewish immigration to Germany that deeply affected Berlin's collective memory of the Holocaust.
6. Museum Island.
Berlin is an ancient city; thus, it should have a lot of museums. There is no other way for the city to preserve the ancient memories that have aided in its development. Five museums are housed together in the city on a tiny island in the Spree River.
5. Brandenburg Gate.
The way time bends is like this! The former emblem of the divided city now stands as a testament to peace and unity. The Iron Curtain, which arbitrary divided East and West Berlin during the cold war, is yet another symbol of the severe political mandates that were imposed on the inhabitants of Berlin.
4. Charlottenburg Palace Gardens.
Berlin is home to some of the most stunning parks, which are among the city's top attractions, in addition to the remnants of the past that have been so meticulously preserved. The first baroque garden in Germany, Charlottenburg Palace Gardens, is one of them. It is also one of the oldest gardens, dating back to 1695.
3. Mauer park.
Mauer park, a former section of the Berlin Wall, is one of the best tourist destinations in Berlin. It is in the Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood. It is well-liked by people of all ages, making it a great destination for a family adventure. It also transforms into a flea market and karaoke venue on the weekends.
2. Treptower Park.
Much has been said about the city and the remnants of its magnificent and turbulent park. Now let's look at the Spree River, whose calmness serves to counterbalance the city's constant commotion from sunrise to dusk. Tre tower Park is located right next to the Spree River's banks and is a great place for boating, running, strolling, or just hanging out.
1. Alexander Platz.
Alexander Platz is one of the most significant and active areas, as well as a hub for many tourist attractions. Some of the main attractions in this region, which is in Berlin's Mitte District, are the 365-meter television tower, Berlin's tallest building, the Alexa shopping mall, and the World Time Clock, to name a few. This region of Berlin has played a significant role in the city's political unrest and social change.
