PARCO DEL LAGO NORD (PADERNO DUGNANO, MILANO, ITALY)
Il parco del Lago Nord (detto anche Cava Nord) è un parco situato nel comune di Paderno Dugnano in provincia di Milano. È stato premiato a Strasburgo nel 1999 con il premio Comunità Europea per il miglior recupero ambientale di una cava di sabbia e ghiaia nel 2003 ha ricevuto il premio Piazza Mercanti della Camera di Commercio di Milano nella sezione “Tutela ambientale”.
Il parco (facente parte del più esteso parco del Grugnotorto) è caratterizzato dalla presenza di 2 laghetti separati tra loro da una passatoia alberata. Il primo laghetto è adibito alla pesca e consente di praticare la pesca sportiva di carpe, trote, lucci ed altre specie d'acqua dolce. Il secondo specchio d'acqua è invece caratterizzato da uno sviluppo più spontaneo e selvaggio, in quanto destinato ad ospitare l'avifauna stanziale e migratoria. Le acque del lago sono derivate artificialmente dal Canale Villoresi immettendosi nel bacino idrico attraverso una piccola cascata artificiale. Le porte di accesso al parco sono in tutto quattro: Porta Serviane, Porta Luigi Tonelli, Porta Cascina Uccello e Porta Grugnotorno.
Situato nell'area nord dell'hinterland milanese in prossimità dell'uscita di Paderno Dugnano della Superstrada Milano-Meda, il parco risulta facilmente raggiungibile in 10 minuti di macchina da Milano.
Il progetto di insieme del parco del Lago Nord è stato redatto nel 1985 dall'architetto Maurice Munir Cerasi che dal 1984 sino al 2001 ha curato anche i progetti e la realizzazione di stralci esecutivi (cascata, bar dei pescatori, teatro all'aperto, belvedere, prato del Resegone, ecc). Dal 1995 alla progettazione e Direzione Lavori ha preso parte anche l'arch. Enrico Cerasi.

The Borromeo palace is a seventeenth-century building located on Isola Bella, on Lake Maggiore, whose gardens extend to the southern tip of the islet. It still belongs to the Borromeo family. The building, characterized by a T-shaped plan, stands at the northern end of the island, dominated by the 80 linear m long facade, with the curvilinear projection of the hall of honor in the center, developed on two floors and covered by a domed roof. The chapel of the building, also on the ground floor, houses objects that belonged to San Carlo Borromeo and Cardinal Federico, as well as three sepulchral monuments of personalities of the family. On the first floor, around the central hall, there are decorated and furnished rooms, including the Napoleon room, where he stayed in 1797, the Throne room and the Music room, where the Stresa conference was held in 1935, between Benito Mussolini, Pierre Laval and Ramsay MacDonald.

Il Castello Borromeo si trova a Peschiera Borromeo nella città metropolitana di Milano. Si tratta di un'antica cascina fortificata ad opera di Vitaliano I Borromeo nel XV secolo e restaurata assumendo l'aspetto attuale nel tardo XVI secolo da Renato Borromeo, cugino del cardinale Federico. Peculiarità del castello è che il fossato che lo circonda è tuttora pieno di acqua.
Peschiera Borromeo's main attraction is the Borromeo Castle, built in 1437 by Vitaliano Borromeo. The Borromei were, during the later years of the Ambrosian Republic, pro-Francesco Sforza, and housed him in the castle while he besieged Milan in 1450. In 1461 Sforza, now the Duke of Milan, made Filippo Borromeo the Conte di Peschiera.

The Piedmontese Province of #Novara borders on #Lombardy to the south and extends in the north to the lower #LagoMaggiore and the southern section of #Ortalake. Its landscape is dominated by hills, water courses, meadows and forests, with the two rivers Sesia and Ticino setting its natural boundaries.
While the northern part of the province is famous for the wine-growing region of Colline Novaresi, the south towards the Po Valley is characterised in the main by countless paddy fields.

Precotto era un piccolo centro abitato di antica origine da sempre legato al territorio milanese, al cui interno era inserito nella Pieve di Bruzzano. Confinava con Greco ad ovest, Gorla a sud, Crescenzago ad est e Villa San Giovanni a nord.
Sull'etimologia del nome vi sono ipotesi discordanti: da una parte potrebbe trattarsi di una forma dialettale praa/pree (prato/prati) + cott nel senso di riarso/-i.
Viceversa però si segnala un antico toponimo pulcoctum (1148, 1153) o ad Pullum Coctum (1162), Precogio XIII secolo, latino ecclesiastico Praecautum, che potrebbe ricordare un'antica osteria lungo la strada tra Milano e Monza.
Agli atti del 1751 Precotto risultava come un villaggio di 260 abitanti saliti a 339 nel 1771 e a 494 nel 1805 nel pieno dell'età napoleonica, poco prima che nel 1808 il comune fosse soppresso e aggregato alla città di Milano, recuperando però l'autonomia dopo l'istituzione del Regno Lombardo-Veneto nel 1816.
L'abitato che nel 1853 fece registrare 834 residenti continuò a crescere negli anni, 881 nel 1861, su una superficie di 179 ettari, arrivando a quota mille nel 1872, a 1586 nel 1901 e a 2557 nel 1911.
Precotto costituì un comune autonomo fino al 1920, quando venne annesso da Gorla Primo nel nuovo comune di Gorla-Precotto. Tuttavia dopo soli tre anni anche il comune di Gorla-Precotto venne soppresso e annesso a Milano insieme ad altri dieci comuni.
Il quartiere di Precotto si trova lungo viale Monza, la prima strada a collegare Milano con la Villa Reale di Monza. Questa strada costruita nella prima metà del XIX secolo, è stata la principale strada che collegava le due città, fino all'apertura di viale Fulvio Testi.
