QUE HACER EN BASILICA DE GUADALUPE CDMX | Mexico Travel Guide

Basilica de Guadalupe Mexico Tour
The story goes, when Lady Guadalupe appeared to the indigenous Mexican named Juan Diego for the first time on Cerro del Tepeyac (Tepeyac Hill). Juan tried to convince the bishop but he needed centuries to make them believe and for her honor, they finally built a shrine. But unfortunately, it led to controversy, some clergy protested due to the shrine just as a form of adoration, and then in 1737 this lady officially announced the patron saint of Mexico, also in 2002 Juan Diego was canonized by Pope John Paul II

How to Get There
Take any metro on paseo de la Reforma for instance from Ángel and stop at the Garrido, it takes 40 minutes and walks around 200 m to get there. It costs 6 peso

TOP THINGS TO DO IN MEXICO - VISIT PUEBLA - THE CITY OF 1000 CHURCHES

Mexico is one of the NUMBER 1 TOURIST DESTINATION for tourists around the world. There is just so much to see, soo many amazing cities to visit.

Out of all the cities that we visited in Mexico, Puebla was my favorite one, we had an amazing time there. This incredible city holds the record for the most churches and chappals per capita of any other city in the world. At times it felt like there was a church literally in every block as we walked down the street.

The best part about it is that they are all unique, built at different points over the 400-plus years since the spanish arrived in Mexico and each built with different styles, so it was hard to choose the best ones.

We spent 4 months traveling around Mexico and put together this series of videos reviewing the TOP CITIES TO VISIT and the TOP THINGS TO DO in each one of them.

Come with us and explore!

From Wikipedia:
The Basilica of Santa María de Guadalupe, officially called Insigne y Nacional Basílica de Santa María de Guadalupe (in English: Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe) is a sanctuary of the Catholic Church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary in her invocation of Guadalupe, located at the foot of the Hill of Tepeyac in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City. It belongs to the Primate Archdiocese of Mexico through the Guadalupana Vicariate, which since November 4, 2018, is in the care of Monsignor Salvador Martínez Ávila, who has the title of general and episcopal vicar of Guadalupe and abbot of the basilica.

It is the most visited Marian precinct in the world, surpassed only by Saint Peter's Basilica. Every year some twenty million pilgrims visit the sanctuary, of which about nine million do so in the days around December 12, the day on which Saint Mary of Guadalupe is celebrated. Annually, the Basilica of Santa María de Guadalupe has at least twice as many visitors as the best-known Marian shrines, making it an outstanding social and cultural phenomenon.
