10 Worst towns in California. Southern Cal version

10 Worst towns in California. Southern Cal version

I think it is time to tackle a list I hinted at earlier this year and never got to. When I listed the worst towns in America I said I had to cut Southern California out because it had like 17 of the worst 20. When you suck that bad, you get your own list is the rule here.
A couple of things with this list. I say town but technically some are small cities. I am just cutting out the major cities like Los Angeles and San Diego proper. If I say cities in the title I will have a bunch of geography nerds jumping up my butt. I don’t like anything jumping up my butt especially geography nerds. Most of these are in the LA metro or LA county.
This is another list that has enough to make 3 videos, but we’ll start with one and see how it goes.
These are not places you want to buy real estate.

Thanks for checking out the channel. I hope you enjoyed today's video. If there is a state, city or town you'd like us to do a video about let us know in the comment section.

Oak Glen Travel Guide | California Travel Tips

California travel expert Veronica Hill shares her Oak Glen Travel Guide in this episode of California Travel Tips.

If you're looking for a taste of New England in sunny Southern California, Oak Glen is a wonderful place you won't want to miss.

More than 60 varieties of apples are grown in Oak Glen, making it the largest apple growing region in Southern California. Here, you'll find everything from tart pink pearls to sweet honey crisps and everything in between.

There are about 10 different Oak Glen apple farms along Oak Glen Road, and each offers its own unique charm.

Start at Oak Tree Village, where you can grab breakfast at the historic Law's Coffee House or Apple Annie's, then head to Colonial Chesterfield, for a tour through its living history displays or a hayride through the orchards.

At Riley's Log Cabin Farm, you can try your hand at tomahawk throwing, make a corn husk doll, press your own cider, or pick your own Oak Glen apples. (You have to pay for them of course).

Each bakery sells its own famous hot apple pies, caramel apples, and apple butter, but for a real treat stop at Snow-Line Orchard, where you can sample fresh cider doughnuts rolled in cinnamon sugar. It's heaven in a bag.

While you're there, watch the workers press fresh cider, then head inside for a sample of three varieties, which are flash pasteurized for safety.

Oak Glen's picturesque environment is perfect for hiking, picnicking and family fun, whether you visit during the crisp months of fall or the warm days of summer.

See The City of Beaumont California!

I had a little visit to the small and beautiful town of Beaumont California. A visit to downtown and the major shopping area of Beaumont. Very affordable housing I noticed also - a great place to live if you are not into the mass of people in Los Angeles proper.

Beaumont is 80 miles from downtown LA and is at around 2600 foot elevation which makes it 5-10 degrees cooler than the LA valley.

Beaumont is also only 9.5 miles from the Morongo Casino and a half hour from Palm Springs. The largest shopping mall closest to Beaumont is in Moreno Valley which is 17 miles west of Beaumont.

Citrus
In the spring of 1882, Mr. E. J. Waite of Wisconsin planted the first orange grove in the city. For almost 75 years, the city was the center of the largest navel orange-producing region in the world. By the late 1930s, Redlands was a fruit-packing center surrounded by more than 15,000 acres (61 km2) of citrus groves. The city produced more than 4,200 railcars of navel oranges and 1,300 cars of Valencia oranges during the 1937–38 growing season. During the 1930s and 1940s, labor activists campaigned in the canneries and packing houses for union representation and higher wages. The United Cannery, Agricultural, Packing, and Allied Workers of America (UCAPAWA) won 13 National Labor Relations Board representation elections in the Riverside-Redlands area in 1943. In 1945, the first annual Orange Queen Ball at the Redlands City Auditorium was held to raise funds for the union.

The citrus industry declined in the area as more agricultural areas were replaced by subdivisions, and all three citrus packing houses (two in downtown and one on San Bernardino Avenue) had closed by the end of the 1900s. Today only one packing house remains to serve the needs of approximately the 2,500 acres (10 km2) of citrus that remains in production in the area.

Where the Wind Blows (Cabazon, California)

The second city we visited is Cabazon, California, a windy spot in the desert where the town is famous for it's shopping, it's gambling, and the dinosaurs made famous by Pee Wee's Great Adventure and Joe Dirt. A census designated place in Riverside County, Cabazon is unlike any other town.

Located right under the 10 freeway between bigger cities like Palm Springs and Anaheim, it's easy to pass Cabazon by without knowing it's there. Those who do know about it are commonly only here for a manner of minutes or hours, but there's much more history to the town then can be experienced so quickly.

This will be one of the only episodes ever that we don't speak to anyone, because it's the first video we shot and because we came right when Covid-19 started getting bad again it's understandable that no one wanted to risk meeting with us, and being it was 99 degrees a lot of people were out of town in cooler destinations. We also shot this with no videos under our belt, and nothing to show for ourselves, so this video will be unique in a few different ways.

Join us as we explore Cabazon, California, and stop by next time you're driving across the 10 in California to see this town located right where the wind blows through the valley.

California's Roadside Attraction - The Cabazon Dinosaurs

Huell Howser said If there was ever a California roadside attraction, this is it. The dinosaurs. We couldn't agree more.

The huge dinosaurs just off Interstate 10 in Cabazon, CA (west of Palm Springs) have been a roadside fixture since 1975. The location includes two large dinosaurs, gift shops, a Waffle Saurus food truck, and a dinosaur park called Mr. Rex's Dinosaur Adventure.

The dinosaurs were created by Claude Bell, who designed a lot of the statutes that are still at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park to this day. He created the dinosaurs to help bring traffic to his diner, The Wheel Inn. After Bell died in 1988 his family sold the property and it was a creationist museum for a time. There are still some traces, as it is still owned by the same company, but the stuff that goes against currently accepted science has been removed.

The dinosaurs have been featured in quite a few movies and TV shows, such as Pee Wee's Big Adventure and The Wizard.

The Cabazon Dinosaurs are a must stop location and something both kids and adults will enjoy checking out. If you like roadside attractions, you'll love the Cabazon Dinosaurs.

Kimberly Crest House and Gardens is a French château-style Victorian mansion located in Redlands, California. The property is a registered California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Redlands (/ˈrɛdləndz/ RED-ləndz) is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The city is located approximately 45 miles (72 km) west of Palm Springs and 63 miles (101 km) east of Los Angeles.

I-10 East - San Bernardino to Blythe/Arizona State Line - Exits 72 to 243

IMPORTANT: Starting February 20th, 2018, my channel will no longer be eligible for monetization because I do not have 1,000 subscribers. I ask that if you enjoyed this video, and would like to see more from me, please consider subscribing or becoming a Patreon supporter. My goal is to reach 1,000 subscribers by the end of 2018. Please help us reach that goal!

Today marks the completion of my I-10 video series in California. Running from San Bernardino to Blythe, I was able to collapse over 170 miles of driving into 15 minutes. This includes all exits along the way - which aren't many since this portion of the road passes through what is primarily the uninhabited Sonoran Desert. The only major cities are in the Indio area, including Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City and Indio itself. From there, the road takes a very straight path to Blythe where it crosses the Colorado River into Arizona, but not before picking up US 95 for the ride across the border.

This route also incorporates large parts of Historic US 60, 70, and 99. We start as US 70 and 99 with US 60 joining at the Beaumont Interchange (modern SR 60). From there, the routes more or less follow the modern route to Indio, where they branch off at Indio Blvd with US 99 continuing south and US 60/70's later alignment joining back at Dillion Rd. (The original alignment followed US 99 to Mecca where it cut up Box Springs Canyon and rejoins us near Cottonwood Springs Rd.)

The final major detour is Corn Springs Road, taking the old road closer to the base of mountain ranges to the south of the modern highway. This road, Chuckwalla Valley Road, it closed currently due to bridge issues and has no reopening date. This alignment rejoins at Ford Dry Lake Rd. The road also has old downtown alignments through Banning and Beaumont (6th/Ramsey) and Blythe (Hobson Way).

Hi! Welcome to my channel. I’m an ICU nurse and my husband is an engineer. Even with our busy work schedules, we love the great outdoors and try to travel as much as we can. Follow along as we document where we’ve been and what we’ve done, as we help you plan the best trip possible!
