Il progetto di Ampliamento alla terza corsia Barberino di Mugello - Incisa Valdarno nel tratto Barberino di Mugello - Firenze Nord si sviluppa tra la progressiva 261+503 (corrispondente allo svincolo di Barberino di Mugello) e la progressiva 279+000 (circa 700 metri a Sud dello svincolo di Calenzano/Sesto Fiorentino) dell'attuale autostrada A1 Milano – Napoli, rientra nel progetto di potenziamento dell'autostrada tra Sasso Marconi ed Incisa Valdarno e ne costituisce il tratto iniziale appenninico lato Firenze, il più complesso da realizzare per la morfologia e le caratteristiche ambientali del territorio attraversato.
L’ampliamento autostradale nel tratto considerato, della lunghezza di 17,5 km, prevede la costruzione di una nuova carreggiata a 3 corsie di marcia più una di emergenza in direzione Sud e la realizzazione di una unica galleria di 7,7 km (Lotto 2) denominata ‘Santa Lucia’ che sarà funzionale a garantire un flusso monodirezionale alla tratta autostradale esaminata.
La nuova galleria Santa Lucia è costituita da un unico fornice la cui parte in scavo naturale inizia alla progressiva 3+423,00 e termina alla progressiva 10+971,00, per uno sviluppo complessivo di 7.548 metri; considerando invece il tratto coperto che comprende anche le gallerie artificiali, essa parte dalla progressiva 3+395,73,00 e arriva alla progressiva 11+120,0, con una lunghezza totale coperta di 7.724,27 metri.
La piattaforma è costituita da tre corsie di 3,75 m di larghezza e due banchine da 0,70 m. A sinistra l’elemento marginale è costituito da un profilo redirettivo, mentre a destra da un marciapiede non sormontabile di larghezza minima pari a 60 cm, in modo da poter costituire una via di allontanamento protetta in caso di guasto al veicolo.
La Galleria verrà realizzata con l’ausilio di una fresa scudata a contropressione di terra denominata TBM – EPB. Lo spessore dei rivestimenti è pari a 55 cm, la sezione della galleria ha diametro pari a 15,40 m, mentre la sezione di scavo e della testa della fresa, ha diametro pari a 15.935 m e area pari a circa 200 mq.
Il processo di avanzamento della macchina TBM permette di realizzare uno scavo perfettamente circolare e, immediatamente a ridosso del fronte di scavo, di posare il rivestimento definitivo. Questo è costituito da anelli di circa due metri in senso longitudinale a loro volta suddivisi in conci. Utilizzando il metodo del cosiddetto “anello universale”, in cui tutti gli anelli sono uguali fra di loro ma di larghezza variabile (pannelli a forma leggermente trapezoidale), attraverso la rotazione dei vari anelli si riescono a realizzare le curve sia planimetriche che altimetriche.

The access is forbidden to the fields of Tuscany, Italy? | Day 5 of the Via Francigena
It was the 5th day of Via Francigena trail when we hiked around 18 kms from the town Fucecchio to the village Calenzano.
That night was really disturbing partly because we had a fear of somebody's chasing us away partly because there were a lot of noises coming from the nearest car roads, dogs barking everywhere and even some loud music from the discos. Also we heard the shot guns of probably some hunters and it was really scary and strange that they were hunting at night. So we had a really bad sleep and were feeling broken apart right from the start of the day. We didn't even stayed at the place to cook the breakfast. We got out on the other small path and set up for cooking there in the shadow. The sun was shining really bright from the very early morning and we knew it's going to be a hot day. First, we had to get back on the official trail of the Via Francigena and for that we had to do another 3 kms. When we got there the trail continued to be quite boring going along the fast car roads and it was all in the direct sunlight between the fields…

L'autostrada A10, conosciuta anche come autostrada dei Fiori o AutoFiori, corre interamente in territorio ligure, collegando Genova a Ventimiglia (confine di Stato) per una lunghezza di 158,7 km. Fa parte della strada europea E80, la quale prosegue in territorio francese fino a Aix-en-Provence come autoroute A8.
Gestita da due concessionarie - da Genova a Savona dalla società Autostrade per l'Italia S.p.A., e da Savona al confine di Stato dalla società Autostrada dei Fiori S.p.A. - conta ventidue stazioni di ingresso; otto sono le aree di servizio e dodici quelle di sosta.
Gran parte del tracciato è costruito a mezza costa con un susseguirsi di gallerie e viadotti. Per questo il pedaggio dell'autostrada applicato su tutta la tratta senza eccezione alcuna, è uno dei più cari d'Italia.
L'autostrada A10, superata Savona, tocca le città di Albenga, Imperia, Sanremo e Ventimiglia. Dopo 6 km da quest'ultimo svincolo, all'interno della galleria Cima della Girauda, vi è il confine di stato con la Francia.
Procedendo da Ventimiglia verso Genova, la A10 interseca in successione la A6, utilizzabile per chi è diretto verso Torino, e la A26, diretta verso la Pianura Padana, la Svizzera e tutte le principali città del nord, per terminare infine innestandosi sul tratto terminale della A7: il tratto finale della A10 (o iniziale se si arriva dalla A7) coincide, in pratica, con il viadotto sul Polvecera. Dopo aver percorso un tratto di circa 3 km sull'A7 si può proseguire verso Milano oppure immettersi sull'A12 per raggiungere la Riviera di Levante, La Spezia e la Toscana.
La stazione di Feglino, una tra le più piccole in Italia (ha una sola corsia in entrata e una sola in uscita), ha anche la particolarità unica di avere l'uscita solo in direzione Ventimiglia e l'entrata solo in direzione Genova.
Dal 14 agosto 2018 al 4 agosto 2020, a causa del crollo del viadotto Polcevera, inaugurato nel 1967, la viabilità dell'A10 è stata interrotta nel tratto tra l'allacciamento con l'A7 per Milano e lo svincolo dell'aeroporto Cristoforo Colombo. Il nuovo ponte, chiamato Genova San Giorgio, è stato inaugurato il 3 agosto 2020 ed aperto al traffico alle ore 22 del giorno successivo e differisce da quello precedente per quanto riguarda le corsie, che sono tre per senso di marcia (due di marcia regolare e una di emergenza) anziché due come sul vecchio ponte.

Fall in love with authentic landscapes of Tuscany | Day 6 of Via Francigena to Gambassi Terme
It was the 6th day of Via Francigena trail when we hiked around 20 kms from Calenzano to the town Gambassi Terme.
We had a very quiet and calm night in the fields of Tuscany. We planned to do 17 kms to the next major village Gambassi Terme that day. We started the day at around 8am and hoped that it would help us to escape the hottest time of the day. The trail from the start was passing through the little forests and the fields and had quite a lot of shadow that we enjoyed a lot. Major agriculture grown in these places were the olive trees and vineyards so they were dominating the landscape together with the moved fields of bright yellow color because of the strong sunlight. The difficulty of the trail wasn't challenging at all, having quite a lot of small uphills and downhills that were easy to do. And it would be even easier if it wasn't that hot. So we can consider that day a first authentic day of the Toscana trail when we had a joy to walk on the calm dirt roads away from the traffic and enjoy the typical landscapes…

Calenzano Alto, conserva ancora oggi l'aspetto caratteristico del villaggio fortificato, con schema a pianta ovale, tipico dei centri di collina, racchiuso da mura: visibile dai quattro punti cardinali, sorveglia le importanti vie di comunicazione che fin dall'antichità, collegavano la piana fiorentina al Mugello. La fortificazione si deve ai conti Guidi, le cui proprietà tra X e XII sec. Si estendevano dal Casentino alla Romagna, dal Valdarno di Sopra ad Empoli e Pistoia.
