Maubanog is from the town’s name and the word “bangog,” meaning “high
spirit.”
The town also boasts a number of heritage structures: the 1725 public bath, a declared Important Cultural Property (ICP); Spanish-era seawall, which is a declared cultural property Level II (a notch lower than the ICP); the modern San Buenaventura Church; and the Spanish colonial cemetery, with its intact arched main portal, chapel façade and a number of old niches.

It also helps us remember famous Maubanins like Jose Ingles, Pastor Endencia, Dr. Maria del Banco Pastrana-Castrence and Father Horacia de la Costa -- a well known Filipino historian. Getting to Mauban, you will have to ride a bus from Manila bound to Lucena City, the capital of Quezon Province. The last bus stop would be Lucena's Grand Terminal, and from there you will have to ride another bus bound to the town of Mauban. The scenery along the way would be typical of any rural towns in the country. Since Quezon Province is composed of valleys and mountains, it common to see terrace fields, but not too steep as compared to the ones in Benguet. The main crop planted in these fields is rice, but it is also common to see vegetable farms.

Mauban is a coastal municipality in the Quezon province. It is famous for its nipa lambanog, also known as lambanog sasa or nipanog. When I arrived, it was drizzling, and it became heavier in the middle of my walk. No worries, I have an umbrella. A must see Cagbalete Island in Mauban, Quezon - Day 1
An unforgettable summer adventure along with my family and friends in Mauban, Quezon, Cagbalete Island. A must see island that is near in Manila yet the view are relaxing and breathtaking.
I highly recommend Villa Pilarosa resort where we stayed for 2days and 1 night. They are very accommodating & friendly. No worries as well for utensils since you can borrow it and you can also request to cook for your food to their staff.
Other activities are affordable island hopping which may include snorkeling, bonsai island and Yang-in sandbar.

Ocular Inspection of Annassel Estate Subd. in Mauban, Quezon!
This could be Mauban’s version of Tagaytay highlands with real rustic feels overlooking Lamon Bay, the mystic Mount Banahaw, the beautiful Alabat Island & the coastal town of Mauban featuring some ancestral homes including Bahay ni Lola across the Seawall. The Annassel Estate by RRED is located in Brgy. San Lorenzo, Mauban in Quezon Province which is just 10-minute drive from the Poblacion.
There are many places in the Philippines that are as beautiful for home getaways but only few are ideal without much ballyhoos. And there’s nothing homier than returning home, really. Just consider the views of a rich fishing ground – Lamon Bay as home to various living corals & the everyday life of Maubanins, the fisher folks attached to its bodies of water.
Then there’s Mt. Banahaw, sacred to many (it’s maybe like Mt. Sinai of the Philippines) that dominates the landscape for miles around the province as gentle & serene backdrop. The 3-peaked volcano hasn’t erupted since 1721 & we hope it won’t be like Pinatubo as it continuously attracts pilgrims, cults, mystics, faith healers, hermits for its psychic energy.
What could be more pleasing to eyesight than the coastal area you grew up with along the Seawall to “pantalan” or “Daungan” serving as port going to touristy Cagbalete island. The town sparkles by nightfall like fireflies in the middle of nowhere. The Seawall & Gat Uban Park have undergone renovations the last decade that locals refer to it now as “baywalk”.
Then finally the views of Alabat island. We’ve never been here but this remote islet has attracted some attention with Nas Daily’s vlog last November 2022 about its predominance of twins & was also featured in Byahe ni Drew in 2018. UNESCO also cited its Inagta Alabat language as one of the 3 critically endangered languages in the Philippines in 2010.
