St. Petersburg is the capital and largest city of the Northwestern region of Russia. 5,000,000 inhabitants make it the 2nd largest city in Russia, as well as the most educated and cultural city in Russia.
St. Petersburg is a city that is both old and new. It has a deep historical background, as a series of reconstructions took place as a result of the destructive war. But it is also a modern city with one of the world's leading exhibitions.
Our walking tour of Kuznechny lane, about 1 km long, starts from Marata Street, ends at Vladimirskaya Square in St. Petersburg and covers most of the sights and historical places of Kuznechny lane in St. Petersburg.

The Petersburger is a special creature, and there are features that distinguish him from the ordinary population of the country. Here is a different time, space, sunshine and townspeople. Among the native Petersburgers, there are many people from aristocratic families, their habits are inherited, formed over the years and generations, and have grown into genetics. He hates and never uses the word Peter (since this is the word of the proletarian outskirts). We must say St. Petersburg. He always has chronic rhinitis. Prefers beer - vodka, port. Beer is a drink of ordinary people. Likes to save up in order to buy the most expensive cigarettes later, collectible, something impractical for the soul. For all his delicacy, he has a pronounced sense of humor, sarcasm, he can very delicately, and if necessary, abruptly put someone in their place, without being embarrassed by swearing, profanity, which he naturally uses, to the point and with great grace.

THE SIGHT & THE SOUND 6/7 : Flight onboard Motor Sich AN-24 UR-BXC from Kiev (IEV) to Uzhgorod (UDJ)

Daniel’s Travel Vlog

FLIGHT #6/7 MOTOR SICH AN-24RV UR-BXC KIEV (IEV) – UZHGOROD (UDJ), MARCH 20, 2014

This video has been remastered in significantly improved in Sight & Sound and replaces the earlier version, published in 2015.

In March 2014 I still had some unused vacation days from the previous year and so I decided to do a little tour of the network of Motor Sich Airlines, based in Zaporizhia, in the Central South Eastern part of the Ukraine.

My pal, Steve Kinder needed no persuasion and instantly agreed to join.

The plan was to sample the Classic AN-24 in depth because the AN-148 and AN-74 of Motor Sich are by no doubt bound to survive their older sister by years to come.

After a very long and eventful day, this video features part two of the evening flight to the old K.U.K. border town of Uzhgorod onboard the second AN-24 UR-BXC.

We landed after almost two hours flight in Uzhgorod after passing the city and final approach over Slovakian airspace, because the border is just located 90 metres West of the 10-28 runway of Uzhgorod.

Iryna, the charming Flight Attendant was kind enough to order us a taxi to bring us to our small local hotel, the taxi charge being 1 Euro, 50 cents…

History of Antonov 24RV UR-BXC

Airframe 37308902 was manufactured in 1973 at the Aviant Plant, performed her first flight on August 28, the same year and was delivered on September 27, 1973 to the Privolzhskoe Division of Aeroflot, registered CCCP-46636.

CCCP-46636 was based at Bykovo after June 15, 1988, operating for the Bykovo Division of Aeroflot.

CCCP-46636 was leased from May 28, 1993 until September 30, 1994 to Mas Air Havayollari, Turkey, registered TC-MOC.

TC-MOC returned to Bykovo Avia and was registered RA-46636.

RA-46636 was reported stored after August 20, 1998.

RA-46636 was sold to Motor Sich Airlines and registered UR-46636 in November, 1998 and later UR-BXC in June, 1999.

Based at the Motor Sich Airlines ramp of Zaporizhia Airport, UR-BXC operates scheduled and charter flights for the Motor Sich Group.

We invite you to walk with us in Moscow Region in Zhukovskiy District to see the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God
Enjoy this walk with us! ????

???? Google Maps Route:

???? Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God - the parish church of the Kolomna diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in the village of Bykovo, Ramensky district, Moscow region, a monument of Russian Gothic of the 18th century.
The church was built in 1783-1788. in a pseudo-Gothic style on the territory of the Bykovo / Maryino estate, which at that time belonged to Mikhail Izmailov. According to stylistic features, the project is attributed to Vasily Bazhenov. It is believed that the church building was remodeled during the construction process by M. F. Kazakov. The temple has two floors, which corresponds to its two thrones. Outside, the church is faced with white stone.
In the 1830s, a separate bell tower was built next to the church, designed in the same style as the temple.
In the 1930s, the church was closed: a garment factory was placed there, and later a warehouse.
Only in 1989 the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church.

THE SIGHT & THE SOUND 9/11 : Flight onboard Motor Sich AN-24 UR-BXC from Lviv (LWO) to Kiev (IEV)

Daniel’s Travel Vlog

FLIGHT #9/11 MOTOR SICH AN-24RV UR-BXC LVIV (LWO) - KIEV (IEV), OCTOBER 10, 2016

This video has been remastered in significantly improved in Sight & Sound and replaces the earlier version, published in 2016.

Being tempted by the idea to join the final scheduled flight of Belavia's legendary TU-154M on a rotation from Minsk to St. Petersburg and back, it just made sense to change my usual access to Belarus from a direct flight from Frankfurt to a Motor Sich Airlines flight from Zaporizhia, Ukraine.

Especially, because a YAK-40 and an AN-140 have been planned for scenic flights out of Minsk, the possibility was likely to get a two hour YAK-40 and a two hour AN-140 ride in and out of Minsk for 150 EUR.

Once in Zaporizhia, I could not resist the idea to explore once again the network of this very unusual and unique fine little airline, operating solely aircraft of Soviet and Ukrainian production, equipped with engines developed and manufactured by the Motor Sich Engine Plant.

So, it was off again to the Ukraine, in 2016.

Things in the Ukraine have changed considerably from 2014. To the worse.

The enthusiasm from the days of the Maidan has given way to a lethargic and pessimistic mood. Lots of red tape, increased suspicion against foreigners from whatever origin has sparked an increased awareness of security personnel on the ramp and elsewhere against those species with a camera in their hand.

Spirits and minds are back to old Soviet reflections.

It is hard to imagine this great country getting back on its feet soon.

Eleven (!) flights in total on board Soviet and Ukrainian metal were about to follow.

After my short excursion to Belarus and St. Petersburg, three flights were on my agenda for the next day, Monday, October 10. Flying from Zaporizhia back to Kiev and connecting there to Motor Sich flight to Lwow, close to the Polish border and returning back to Kiev in the evening.

The weather in Kiev could not be worse, it seemed the low pressure cold front found its way from Minsk and moved downward to Kiev, where I was doing my video recordings. Uuuuhhhh...

Flight #9 takes us on board my favourite AN-24 of Motor Sich, UR-BXC back from Lwow to Kiev with a spectacular night landing over the city.

Clean cabin, clean windows, this plane looks spick and span, just a beauty.

THE SIGHT & THE SOUND 5/7 : Flight onboard Motor Sich AN-24 UR-MSI from Zaporizhia to Kiev (IEV)

Daniel’s Travel Vlog

FLIGHT #5/7 MOTOR SICH AN-24RV UR-MSI ZAPORIZHIA (OZH) – KIEV (IEV), MARCH 20, 2014

This video features another early morning flight from Zaporizhia to Kiev-Zhuliany on Day Four.

There is nothing much to see at dawn at the abandoned airport of Zaporizhia except a few straying dogs safeguarding the terminal and the fence and a few YAK-40s at some distance and a large number of IL-76 parked far away in the middle of nowhere.

Learning from experience, we arrived just in time, for unlocking the old Soviet style terminal for ticket and baggage registration for our flight, being the only flight operating this morning out of Zaporizhia.

Sitting in the airport lounge sipping some coffee, again we could hear the running engine of our daily shuttle service to Kiev, long before sighting her.

Again, UR-MSI it was, and again boarding was speedy after bidding farewell to Alexey Polyakov, who came out all the way at this time of the day.

We could see familiar faces amongst the passengers who apparently are commuters shuttling every day back and forth between Zaporizhia and Kiev.

Like the previous day strong head winds let us enjoy more than 100 minutes onboard UR-MSI before landing in cloudy Kiev.

Soon after arrival it was raining cats and dogs and we were expected by a well-known aviation expert to guide is through the world famous aviation museum at Zhuliany airport and later by one the most famous aviation photographer of the Ukraine Vitaliy Nesenyuk, who guided us over the airport and let us witness Touch & Go training flights of the Indian Air Force AN-30.

Vitaliy then introduced Steve and myself to the Head of Public Relations of Zhuliany airport, Galina Bogdanenko who has plans to promote Zhuliany airport to the international spotting scene by offering day tours led by Vitaliy and his spotter friends.
