Ride a beige jeepney going to Barangay Gordon Heights at Jollibee Triangle. Tell the driver to drop you at Blk 27 which is the jump-off point. Travel time is 20 minutes.


Upon arrival at Blk 27 (the jeepney's end of the trip), walk left on the cemented road uphill. Straight ahead will lead to Sitio Banca Bancaan Aeta Community.

The word Piagayungan Piyagayungan originated from the word piyagayunan meaning the good agreement of 2 families in the marriage of their children, In Maranao tradition, the girl is hidden before the marriage, it was said that during the old times, the girl was hidden in the mountain during their marriage rites.

OBSERVATIONS DURING THE EXPLORATION CLIMB:
1. The Clock of the Mountain was not heard during entire 7 days in the forest. This indicates the absence of Rufus Hornbill Kalaw in the vast rainforest going to the peak of Mt. Piagayungan.
2. There were several species of leeches with diminishing sizes as we went to the peak. Those at the lowland forest were larger and those near the peak are the smallest.
3. Presence of wild pigs are noticeable from lowland forest up to the peak.
4. There were several sightings of wild deer from lowland forest up to the peak.
5. The ridges going to the peak of Mt. Piagayungan were covered with talahib with occasional large trees.
6. Mossy forest consisting of smaller trees were observed within the areas around the peak of Mt. Piagayungan.
7. Hunter's trail were noticed at lowland forest and even at the peak of Mt. Piagayungan.
8. Shrieks of the Philippine Eagle was heard at lowland forest and its presence was observed near the peak of the mountain at around 2800 masl elevation.
9. Within the trails made by #TeamPayong, no presence of cut timber were observed indicating that illegal logging activities are not done in the area.
10. Several species of birds were noticed and varied flora and fauna were seen in the vast rainforest going to the peak.
11. There were two small blue lakes near the foot of Mt. Latukan.
12. Landslides along mountain slopes were not observed in the whole duration of the climb.

Ang isla ay bulubundukin, at tahanan ng Mount Apo, ang pinakamataas na bundok sa bansa. Ang Mindanao ay napapaligiran ng apat na dagat: ang Dagat Sulu sa kanluran, ang Dagat ng Pilipinas sa silangan, ang Dagat Celebes sa timog, at ang Dagat Mindanao sa hilaga.

Ang isla mismo ay bahagi ng isang grupo ng isla na may parehong pangalan, na kinabibilangan ng Sulu Archipelago at ang mga malalayong isla ng Camiguin, Dinagat, Siargao, at Samal.

Sa Davao Oriental, ang ilang mga taluktok ay tumataas sa itaas ng 2,600 m at isang bundok ay tumataas sa 2,910 m .

Ang bulubunduking ito ay tumatakbo sa kanlurang hangganan ng Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, at mga lalawigan ng Davao. Pangunahing istruktura ang pinagmulan ng hanay na ito, ngunit naglalaman din ito ng hindi bababa sa tatlong aktibong peak ng bulkan. Ang gitna at hilagang bahagi ng hanay na ito ay naglalaman ng ilang mga taluktok sa pagitan ng 2,000 at 2,600 m, at dito ang sinturon ng mga bundok ay humigit-kumulang 30 milya ang lapad.

Hike to Boton Falls on SBMA #SubicBay #Olongapo #Philippines

Join us while we hike down to Boton Falls on SBMA. It's about a 750 meter hike down to the falls. I'd say it will take you 30 minutes to reach the falls (downhill hike) and 45 minutes (uphill hike) to get back to the trailhead. Make sure you carry some water with you. Even though it's a relatively short hike, you'll want to take a break and rehydrate before heading back up the hill.

- heared an eagle's shriek
- 3 members saw a black deer w/ white spots

- the team saw a green viper

- 3 members saw a Philippine Eagle upon approaching Mt.Piagayungan Peak

- the sweeper pack was visited by a troop of wild monkeys in their emergency camp & disappeared after hearing the shriek of an eagle. the troop visited back after the eagle left.

8. Shrieks of the Philippine Eagle was heard at lowland forest and its presence was observed near the peak of the mountain at around 2800 masl elevation.
9. Within the trails made by #TeamPayong, no presence of cut timber were observed indicating that illegal logging activities are not done in the area.
10. Several species of birds were noticed and varied flora and fauna were seen in the vast rainforest going to the peak.
11. There were two small blue lakes near the foot of Mt. Latukan.
12. Landslides along mountain slopes were not observed in the whole duration of the climb.
