Clark Griswold's gonna need a whole new can of eggnog after seeing this display.
This incredible Christmas light display, located in Burpengary East, just north of Brisbane, looks like Santa sneezed and dumped Christmas lights all over it!
I hope Santa brings sunglasses for these neighbours.

1. How long does it take to put the lights up?
Four months!
2. When do you start?
I start in July and we light up in November.
3. How long does it take to pull them down?
Three or four days.
4. Where do you store them?
Up until last year, everything very strategically fit in our garage, with some bigger pieces in my parents shed. I’ve added a lot to the display this year so I honestly don’t know where it’s all going to fit!
5. How long have you been doing it?
I used to decorate my parents house when I lived at home - I started around 13. Then continued on when I moved out doing smaller, basic displays. We moved to this house 4 years ago and that’s when I started doing a bigger display - there’s a lot of house to cover!
6. Do you have solar panels?
Yes!
7. How high is your electricity bill?
It really only goes up about $150 for the quarter - the lights obviously only run a few hours a day and most are only 12v. Our fish tank uses more electricity.
8. How do you get on the roof?
I put a ladder up on the alfresco roof then carry another ladder up there to access the second storey roof. Then do 1000 trips up and down carrying all the bits and pieces up.
9. How much money have you spent on lights?
Next question ???? in all honesty, I have no idea, I avoid looking at my bank balance! At a guess, I think it would be around 30k over the years. It’s hard to estimate because on top of adding new lights, I also have to replace bits and pieces that break/stop working.
10. What do your neighbours think?
We are so lucky to live in the community we do. Our neighbours are super supportive of us and we hang out in the street together most nights admiring the view. Our next door neighbours even let us drill into their roof this year.
11. Are the lights powered or solar?
Everything is powered, apart from three pieces on the roof which are solar and two reindeer heads which are battery operated.
12. Where do you plug them all in?
They’re strategically plugged into six different locations - rooftop, balcony, garage, garden, meter box, deck with the use of extension leads and power boards. I have waterproofed the outdoor plugs in storage tubs with plastic shields on top to stop water ingress.
13. Where do you buy your lights from?
The majority are from Costco and Christmas Alight at Everton Park. I get a few pieces off Marketplace, some at Bunnings Warehouse Australia and others online at Christmas Shop Online, Christmas Complete, eBay and Amazon.com.

ARK XO 500 Jockey Wheel
We purchased the JB Caravan but kept hitting our knuckles on the stone guard at the front, there had to be a better way to do this. One of our good friends recommended this style of jockey wheel. There is two options in the XO range, 500kg and 750kg. We looked at both but as our draw bar is not very long we considered the 750kg probably too long for our needs.
Installation is simple, the instructions are good and everything you need is included in the kit. Hunt around for a good price, we did notice that the price does vary.

January 11/1/11 flood
this is just a quick video i made thismornin of the floods, all roads are blocked and my friends horses are at burpengary equestrian centre however they cant get to them as the burpengary creek is flooded and is like a river, her paddock is under and we have tried to get to the horses to see if they are safe but we cant get within 50m of the paddock to see, my love goes out to her and her horses :) xx
