I’m grateful to have been welcomed to spend Christmas in Bukoba, Tanzania! I met Allen’s family and we explored the town a little. If you search Bukoba on Google the results are slim, so I was pleasantly surprised with the environment ????
Did you know Bukoba is at the shore of Lake Victoria and only about an hour from the border of Uganda? It’s a small town, but one of many that line the shores of one of the biggest lakes in the world! ????
I had it in my mind that I would see Lake Victoria this year and I can’t believe it actually happened this way! When visiting Kenya I hope to see another side of it at Kisumu.

one of the historical Town in Tanzania, reminds us of the War between Uganda and Tanzania which was popularly known by the Kagera war or Uganda -Tanzania War that started on 30th October in 1978 up to 11th April, 1979 under the leadership of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere who was the President of Tanzania and Idd Amin Dadah who was the President of Uganda.

Bukoba Rubondo 2022
Rubondo Island became a game reserve in 1965, to provide a sanctuary for animals. Rubondo Island was gazetted as a national park in 1977. Today Rubondo is uninhabited. Consequently, 80% of the island remains forested today. The 400 “fisher folk” of the Zinza tribe, who lived on the island and maintained banana plantations, were resettled on neighbouring islands and onto the mainland by the government in the late 1960s.
Common native fauna include the vervet monkey, sitatunga, hippopotamus, genet and bushbuck.
