WHERE TO STAY IN BUDAPEST: A DISTRICT GUIDE -- True Guide Budapest
The city of Budapest covers more than 500 square kilometers. It is split down the middle by the River Danube, with the residential and hilly Buda on the west side, and the commercial, flat Pest on the east side of it. Budapest has 23 districts (kerület in Hungarian), which are numbered clockwise in widening circles (like Paris' arrondissements). It is easy to find the district from the address of a location, as the two middle digits of the four number zip code indicate it (for example: zip code 1056 means 5th district).
I created this district guide to help you choose where to stay in Budapest depending on the atmosphere and your travel style.
DISTRICT I.: romantic / first time visit
this is the castle district
DISTRICTS II., III., OR XII.: to enjoy greenery and relax
these are all on the hilly Buda side (Rózsadomb, Óbuda, Svábhegy)
DISTRICT V.: the downtown, ideal for business or for families with smaller kids
the city centre (Belváros)
DISTRICT VI.: on a budget and/or to enjoy the culture of the city
this are is called Terézváros
DISTRICT VII.: the Jewish neighborhood but also has great nightlife
this are is called Erzsébetváros
DISTRICTS VIII. AND IX.: cool but perhaps rough neighborhoods
they are called Józsefváros and Ferencváros
DISTRICTS IV. AND X.: they are mainly lower middle class residential and industrial districts
they are called Újpest and Kőbánya
DISTRICTS XI., XIII., AND XIV.: primarily upper middle class residential
district XI. is called Újbuda (on the Buda side), XIII. is Újlipótváros and XIV. is Zugló.
ALL OTHER DISTRICTS (XV., XVI., XVII., XVIII., XIX., XX., XXI., XXII., XXIII.) are further out from the city

I was born and have lived in this beautiful city, Budapest for decades. I am in love with it - and not because I haven’t seen anything else. I am a seasoned traveller and I have also spent many years living abroad. However, my heart (and wife, and jobs and goulash soup and lángos) have pulled me back to my birth town. Budapest, Hungary - Budapest is often known as one of the most charming cities of Central Europe. From its impressive parliament building to the many hills overlooking the Danube, this city is filled with so many amazing places to visit and is a city you could spend months exploring. In this video, we’ve broken down Budapest into its two parts - Buda and Pest. We focus mainly on Buda, starting the day off at fisherman’s bastion before exploring the churches and castles across Buda!

Budapest (Hungarian: [ˈbudɒpɛʃt] (About this sound listen))[a] is the capital and the most populous city of Hungary, and the tenth-largest city in the European Union by population within city limits.[12][13][14] The city had an estimated population of 1,752,704 in 2016 distributed over a land area of about 525 square kilometres (203 square miles).[15] Budapest is both a city and county, and forms the centre of the Budapest metropolitan area, which has an area of 7,626 square kilometres (2,944 square miles) and a population of 3,303,786, comprising 33 percent of the population of Hungary.[16][17] The Budapest metropolitan area had a GDP of $141.0 billion (€129.4 billion) in 2016, accounting for 49.6 percent of the GDP of Hungary.[18][9] GDP per capita in the city is $64,283, which means 148% of the EU average measured on purchasing power parity.[10] Thereby the city is among the top 100 GDP performing cities in the world.[19]

The history of Budapest began with Aquincum, originally a Celtic settlement[42][43] that became the Roman capital of Lower Pannonia.[42] Hungarians arrived in the territory in the 9th century.[44] Their first settlement was pillaged by the Mongols in 1241.[45] The re-established town became one of the centres of Renaissance humanist culture by the 15th century.[46][47] Following the Battle of Mohács and nearly 150 years of Ottoman rule,[48] the region entered a new age of prosperity, and Budapest became a global city with the unification of Buda and Óbuda on the west bank with Pest on the east bank on November 17, 1873.[15][49] Budapest also became the co-capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire,[50] a great power that dissolved in 1918, following World War I. The city was the focal point of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, the Battle of Budapest in 1945, and the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.[51][52]
Budapest is cited as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe,[12][53][54] ranked as the world's second best city by Condé Nast Traveler,[55] and Europe's 7th most idyllic place to live by Forbes.[56] Among Budapest's important museums and cultural institutions, the most visited art museum is the Museum of Fine Arts, which is noted for one of the largest collections of all periods of European art and comprises more than 100,000 pieces.[57][58] Further famous cultural institutions are the Hungarian National Museum, House of Terror, Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Hungarian State Opera House and National Széchényi Library. В сезоне Румыния 2023 мы обязательно должны посетить столицу Румынии - Бухарест.
Если не знаете чем заняться в Бухаресте, то в этом видео я постараюсь показать вам самые интересные места для посещения. Мы посмотрим на город в разные периоды года, прогуляемся по улицам днем и ночью, а еще я поделюсь с Вами советами что не стоит делать в столице Румынии, чтобы не загреметь в полицейский участок =)
Для первого дня отдыха я бы посоветовала всем туристам отправиться в Старый город Бухареста.
Бухарест — столица и крупнейший город Румынии. Он описывается как культурный, финансовый, развлекательный и медиа-центр Румынии со значительным влиянием в Восточной и Юго-Восточной Европе.
Бухарест когда-то был известен как Маленький Париж Востока, потому что он находился под сильным влиянием французской культуры и архитектуры в 19-20 веках, как и остальная часть румынского среднего класса, жившая в городе тех времен.
Мы прогуляемся по знаменитому культурному центру столицы Румынии - Бухарест - площади Революции, где в 1989 году произошло восстание, приведшее к падению диктаторского режима. А еще мы отправимся на отдых в крупнейший спа велнесс комплекс Европы - тропический пальмовый рай Therme Bucharest.
Далее вам предстоит побывать в одном из самых впечатляющих зданий Бухареста - Дворце Парламента. Это огромное здание, построенное в период коммунизма, является вторым по размеру административное зданием в мире после Пентагона.
А еще в нашем маршруте исторический район Липскань где сможете прогуляться по улочкам, увидеть красивые здания в стиле неоклассики и насладиться местной атмосферой.
Так же в этом видео вы сможете познакомиться с традиционной румынской кухней, посетив ресторан, где подадут нам вкуснейшее блюдо. Ну и напоследок заглянем в полицейский участок =)
