General Santos City lies at the southern part of the Philippines.
The city is southeast of Manila, southeast of Cebu and southwest of Davao.
Sarangani is part of the South Cotabato-Cotabato-Sultan Kudarat-Sarangani-General Santos (Soccsksargen) development cluster, and is linked by paved roads to the international airport and harbor of General Santos.
Major General Paulino Torres Santos.Under his term, he established six settlements in South Cotabato namely Koronadal, Banga, Tupi, Tampakan, Polomolok, and Buayan, thus, increasing Christian population in the region.
As a tribute to his legacy in the area, the municipality of Buayan (formerly Dadiangas) was renamed General Santos City,
Explore Gensan and have fun! The city is generally safe since the security is somewhat tight and most of the people are benevolent individuals.
General Santos City has a tropical wet and dry climate .It is one of the driest places in the Philippines.
Aside from notable people in the area, which helps the place become more popular globally and perhaps its biggest claim to fame is that boxer/senator Manny Pacquiao is a native.
General Santos City is the shopping capital of the Soccksargen region. Residents from nearby towns and provinces visit the city to do shopping and enjoy life and leisure activities.
General Santos City is the largest producer of sashimi-grade tuna in the Philippines. Thus, as early as 1970, it was nicknamed Tuna Capital of the Philippines.

General Santos, formerly (until 1954) Buayan, city, southern Mindanao, Philippines. The city is named for General Paulino Santos, who directed the pioneer settlement (mostly by Christian Filipino migrants) and development of the Koronadal Valley that began in the mid-1930s.
General Santos city is located at the head of Sarangani Bay of the Celebes Sea along the southern shore of Mindanao. The city is a principal shipping point and is also administrative headquarters for the Koronadal settlement projects. A number of small-scale manufacturing companies are located there, along with banana, pineapple, and cassava plantations. Its national port, the largest in southern Mindanao, is the port of entry for overseas shipping in the region. General Santos also has a national airport.

It was thrilling experience for the three of us and we owe so much to JJ, our leader to guide us along the journey.

Damweng Dmatal (Blaan for “Overlooking the Plains”) in Sitio Datal Fitak, Barangay Assumption about 9 kilometers from Koronadal City. Damweng Dmatal was established when enhanced community quarantine was enforced. Since all the residents of Barangay Assumption were prohibited from traveling to the city, the people decided to develop the place into a tourist attraction from locally available indigenous materials such as bamboo and cogon.
