Igman is a mountain in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located southwest of Sarajevo, surrounding the mountain Bjelasnica and part of the city, Ilidza. It spreads in the municipalities of Hadžići and Ilidža. The highest point of Igman is 1647 meters high, making it the smallest of the Sarajevo mountains.

The war mosque on Igman, or as it is also called, the Igman beauty, is an authentic cultural monument, which was built during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Igman is a popular hiking and skiing destination. During the 14th Winter Olympics, it was the main mountain used for Olympic events, along with Jahorina, Trebević and Bjelašnica. There are still plenty of items on Igman dating from that time, but most have faced the aftermath of the 1990s war. There are plans for a new cable car between Igman and part of Ilidža, Hrasnica. Today, Igman is one of the leading tourist attractions in Sarajevo.

Igman is the region with the lowest recorded temperature in the region, −43 ° C. When the weather is right, Igman offers a view all the way to Montenegro and the Adriatic Sea.

Još uvijek dosta predmeta na Igmanu datira iz tog vremena, ali većina se suočila s posljedicama rata iz 1990-ih. Postoje planovi za novu žičaru između Igmana i dijela Ilidže, Hrasnice. Danas je Igman jedna od vodećih turističkih atrakcija Sarajeva.

Igman je područje najniže zabilježene temperature u regiji, −43°C. Kada je vrijeme pogodno, s Igmana pruža se pogled sve do Crne Gore i Jadranskog mora.

Like Montreal in 1976, they had their Olympics 1984...and we remember following them on TV finding the city so beautiful and charismatic...and finding its people's hospitality so generous and supportive..they would applaud and encourage every athletes no matter where they were from...

Then during the war, 23 years ago, 1 month after after my husband & I met, the loving couple Admira & Bosko got shut by snipers and died in each other's arms. She was Bosnian Muslim, he was Serb orthodox christian. They became known around the world as Romeo & Juliet of Sarajevo..Their story really moved us....They were my age, my generation... When we arrived here...We could still see the scars of the war, but the soul and the charismatic beauty of this unique place overcomes it all... this fabulous city surrounded by these gorgeous hills... the kindness of its people, all religions living in peace together... So we choose to share beautiful side and this is also what people of Sarajevo want us to remember...

Vozim se i šetam Lukomirom | Drive and walk till last Bosnian village Lukomir

The village belongs to the Municipality of #Konjic , and it can be reached from two directions - from Konjic and #Sarajevo . It is about 30 kilometers away from Konjic, while Lukomir is 45 kilometers away from Sarajevo. The drive from the center of Sarajevo to Lukomir, the road that leads through Babin dol on Bjelasnica, takes about an hour and a half.

Most of the road is paved, and the last 11 kilometers is a winding macadam road that leads first through the bare karst landscapes, and then through landscapes with flower meadows.

It is possible to reach the village on foot via two hiking trails, which start from the village of #Umoljani on #Bjelasnica .

#Lukomir is like a living #ethno #museum, where the customs of #nomadic #tribes are practiced and lives the traditional way of life of the #Dinaric Highlanders. It is an important part of the historical, cultural, architectural and environmental heritage of #BiH, and stećak tombstones scattered around the village show that it was inhabited in the 14th and 15th centuries.

The population of Lukomir originates from Podveležje, a dry plateau in Herzegovina. In the summer, semi-nomadic shepherd tribes moved to the rich pastures of Bjelašnica due to lack of water with large herds. Most of them settled permanently in the Rakitnica canyon, and later on the site of today's Lukomir.

Building seasonal settlements, which later grew into a village, members of the Chomor and Masleš tribes mostly settled there, which are today the only families living in Lukomir.

At first, there was only the village of Donji Lukomir, about 3 kilometers away from today's village.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Gornji Lukomir was mentioned as a summer village, a place where the inhabitants of Donji Lukomir brought cattle to graze, and around 1950 the population moved to Gornji Lukomir for better connections with the rest of the world.

The village is unique for its stone houses covered with oak, fir and beech shimmer. The houses have a square base with a fireplace in the middle, and small windows are placed on the stone walls. During the construction of the homes, the residents adapted to the peculiarities of the terrain and the harsh mountain climate.

People have been living in Lukomir seasonally for several years. From May to October, the villagers are engaged in agriculture and livestock, and in winter they descend from the mountain, because then the village cannot be accessed due to several meters of snow.

Out of 50 houses in the village, 21 are inhabited in the summer, and in nice weather, up to 4,000 sheep graze on the pastures around Lukomir, which are kept at night in stone fences surrounded by pens.

The village has all the necessary infrastructure - telephone, electricity, water and sewage. It has its own cemetery, and back in 1969 the locals built a mosque, which was renovated in 2014.

From the lookout point above the village, the view extends to the crown of the Visocica mountain, which falls into the 800-meter-deep canyon of the Rakitnica river, the deepest in Europe after the Tara canyon.

Today, Lukomir is a top destination for rural tourism.

In several restaurants, visitors can enjoy hospitality and traditional culinary specialties, and as a memento of their stay in the last Bosnian village, they can also buy some of the handicrafts of valuable villagers.

Ramadan in Sarajevo

The shot from the cannon from the 'Žuta Tabija in Sarajevo every evening during Ramadan marks the start of Iftar, which is the end of the day fast for Muslims.
In the last few years, the Ramadan Top became a real attraction, for people from Sarajevo and a number of tourists who come here for a few of the city. Others come here to mark the end of the nearly 17 hour fast, during which people are not allowed to consume food or drink.
Kenan Bajrić came here for the first time from Kiseljak with his family for Iftar on the 'Žuta Tabija. He said that every night he spends Iftar with his friends or in another city.
Smajil Krivić has a job that requires one of the most responsibilities during the time of Ramadan, since citizens of Sarajevo every night know what time is Iftar. He started doing this job in 1997. He comes here 20 minutes before Iftar begins to make all the preparations.
I often come here during Ramadan because it is nice to see the flash of cannon over the city, when it signals the time of Iftar'', said Milić and added that it is nice to see so many people in one place and to be together for Iftar. It looks like one community and it shows that there are people in this city who still like to mingle with one another, and this mostly reflects the magic of Ramadan''.
The cannon from the top is heard until the new parts of Sarajevo.
