2023 Illinois Route 66 Road Trip Episode 1: Chicago to Joliet
One of my bucket list items is to do Route 66 from start to finish. I don't have the time or funds at the moment to do the whole thing, but I'm about 110 miles from Chicago so I thought I would take a weekend and see as much of Illinois as possible. We started about 5 miles from the actual start in Chicago and in this episode we stop at Route 66 landmarks from Chicago to Joliet. We came across some cool places of interest, so sit back and enjoy!

Welcome to a beautiful ride on the North Shore Channel Trail in Chicago's Far North Side, Lincolnwood, Skokie, and Evanston in Chicago's near north suburbs! This trail is built along the North Shore Channel (one of the canals built by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District to reverse the flow of the Chicago River) through several Chicago Parks, Lincolnwood's Centennial Park, Skokie's Northshore Sculpture Park (many sculptures make appearances in this trip and next), and several parks in Evanston. Enjoy the VirtualTrip on the beautiful Saturday in late August 2020 this was filmed! Enjoy the extensive greenery and urban landscapes as we bike north along the North Shore Channel!
