Amsterdam is a small town of 820,000 people but has many great bars and night clubs neatly located in close proximity of each other. I recommend you start your evening with a few drinks at Hannekes Boom located at the Amsterdam waterfront after drop by Amsterdam's oldest alcohol tasting chamber Wynand Fockink to try traditional Dutch Jenever from which modern Gin originated and drop by TonTon Club Center for a great meetup place to play classic arcade games but if you are a newcomer to Amsterdam than you must join the Amsterdam Pub Crawl to mingle with locals, expats and travelers while you learn everything about the latest bars & nightclubs in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is breathtaking from the canals that's why my cousin and I rented a canal boat so we could have our own private tour. We rented the canal boat from canalmotorboats.com conveniently located west of Amsterdam Central Station and rents for 40 euros per hour but make sure to reserve a few days ahead.

Amsterdam has 2 major nightlife districts called Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein these squares are loaded with bars and night clubs. Depending on where you start, I recommend you get a delicious negroni from NJOY cocktail bar but beware, they have a strict door policy so do not show up too trashed or under dressed.

At Rembrantplein you'll find many great spots like Escape night club, Jantjesverjaardag (a popular student bar), techno club Air Amsterdam, and my favorite Club NYX for their bizarre toilet bar on the top floor where you literally can take a piss behind the DJ in a urinal on the dance floor.

If you're not into night clubs than Amsterdam has a magnitude of bars and cafes, it is what Amsterdam is best known for. Dig deep into local Dutch cafe culture in the Jordaan district at cozy places Cafe Thijsen, Gevulde Gaper, Staalmeesters and De Zotte.

For party bars and dive bars check out No. 129, Cafe Kooper, Kopstootbar and end your night either at the Water Hole for rock music and live bands or club hard at the massive Paradiso dance floor or consider Chicago Social club for a more laid back hipster kind of vibe.

Buy Now - Amsterdam RLD Tour tickets:
($25 USD, 10% discount)

In conclusion, the Amsterdam nightlife is one of world's best. The fact that bars and clubs are open late, no last call, great selection of music & venues plus a chill laid back local crowd that makes Amsterdam the absolute party capital of Europe, without a doubt. Ibiza eat your heart out! Also, make sure to watch my Amsterdam travel guide for day time activities.

The Dark Side of Living in The Netherlands

What are the downsides of living in the Netherlands? There is a wide variety of advantages that come along with relocating to the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a country that has a lot to offer everybody, whether they are searching for a higher standard of life, more work prospects, or a location to live that is cheaper. Let's not sugarcoat things and have an honest conversation about some of the challenges you could face if you decide to relocate to the Netherlands.
1. It’s an expensive country
The Netherlands is well-known for having some of the highest tax rates in the world, and almost everything is subject to taxation. The income tax is particularly high in contrast to those of other countries in Europe. You could also discover that the prices of electronic goods are higher in the Netherlands (here's a pro tip: shop on the German Amazon), and that the prices of some foods are also a little bit more. On the other hand, it is possible to acquire some excellent prices if you have learned how to shop and where to shop. The relationship between supply and demand is to blame for the typically high cost of rent throughout the whole of the United States. Jobs, in general, pay very well here; yet, in the end, it all comes down to how you look at it.
2. You have to learn a new language
Even though most Dutch people are aware of this fact, conversational English is not sufficient. You are going to need to educate yourself in Dutch since the majority of the labels, notices, goods, and parcels are all in Dutch. You are going to have to utilize Google Translate whenever you go to public locations like the grocery or railway stations until you master the local language.
It is well known that the service sector in the Netherlands is notorious for being less helpful and more difficult to navigate than in other nations. Even if someone has been downright impolite to us extremely seldom, the Dutch aren't exactly famed for their ability to provide good customer service.
You are either going to have to wait an eternity to speak to the manager, you are going to be in a line of 25 people on the phone, or you are going to have to wait weeks for a response to an email. Not to mention the level of frustration that a good number of individuals experience whenever they are confronted with tasks such as receiving mail or shipments.
3. Accommodation
Insane housing shortages are plaguing the Netherlands at the moment. As a result, it is essential to do apartment hunting in advance of relocating to this location for permanent residence. There are both furnished and unfurnished apartments available to choose. The furnished homes come with very huge rent prices. When you rent a property that isn't equipped, you may think you're getting a good deal, but in reality, you have to buy everything, even rugs and appliances that are necessary. In addition, property owners are reaping the benefits of the housing shortage by charging their renters unreasonable prices.
Due to the unfortunate state of affairs in the housing market in the Netherlands, it is essential that you begin your search for a new place to call home at the earliest possible date. Bear in mind that there are no assurances that you will locate a location right away; yet, you should not give up hope!
If you want to live in Amsterdam or one of the other cities in the Randstad, you need be extremely patient in your hunt for a new house, and you should prepare for a little bit of more wiggle space in your budget.

Living in The Netherlands – The Pros and Cons

What are the pros and cons of living in The Netherlands? It doesn't matter whether you're relocating for business, education, or just because you want a change of scenery; moving to a new nation may be stressful for a lot of people. Therefore, before to deciding to live in Holland, you have to take into consideration a variety of variables, including the cost of living, the community, the school system, the level of safety, the availability of employment, and the environment. According to the third rule of Newton, which states that every act has an equal and opposing response, living in the Netherlands has both positive and negative aspects to it.
Consider all of the perks of living in the Netherlands, then make a final decision about making the move there.
PROS:
1. High Quality Education
The World Economic Forum places the Netherlands at the third spot on its list of countries with the highest levels of education. It is estimated that around 81% of persons between the ages of 25 and 64 have finished at least their upper secondary school, which is greater than the average for the OECD, which is 79%. If you are relocating with your children, you do not need to worry about their education since pupils continue to gain knowledge and the capacity to read and write, as well as research, mathematics, scientific, economic, and social skills. If you are relocating with your kids, you are already safe and secure. In addition, the school system in the Netherlands promotes you to grow in your chosen field of work.
2. Healthcare
Having health insurance is a legal requirement in the Netherlands, and residents are expected to comply. As a result of the relatively high cost of the compulsory monthly payment for health insurance, a great number of individuals are unsatisfied with it. However, this is a significant perk of living in the Netherlands as a Dutch citizen: you will never have to spend a significant amount of money out of pocket to obtain medical assistance. This is a government benefit. Some people get the impression that they are throwing their money away since they don't need medical attention too often. However, once they reach the point where they need medical attention, they will get it.
3. A Low Rate of Crime
The Netherlands was classified as the 21st safest nation in the world according to the World's Safest Country ranking for the year 2021. However, your safety is not completely assured no matter where you go since you run the risk of becoming a victim of small crimes such as pickpocketing. When travelling to a new country, safety is a valid worry for everyone, but it is particularly important for households with kids and women who are traveling alone. The Netherlands are a rather risk-free destination. However, you should stay away from places with a high crime rate and adopt the appropriate safety measures. Taking sensible measures, such as securing your home and vehicle behind you when you leave, installing a burglar alarm, and so on.
4. It’s Small and Easy to Get Around
Because the Netherlands is not a very huge country, getting around to its many cities is not difficult. There is an abundance of public transit options obtainable in every given location, including railroads, buses, trolleys, and metros.

12 Reasons Why You Should Move to the Netherlands

What do you know about Netherlands? It doesn't matter if you have your sights set on bustling Rotterdam with its exciting nightlife scene or the ancient splendor of Utrecht with its wonderful canals; you'll discover that all of the urban centers in the Netherlands share a common factor, and that factor is the one-of-a-kind and alluring Dutch way of life. Let's have a look at twelve of the many compelling arguments that make the Netherlands an excellent destination for expats and students from other countries.

12. Excellent public transport
There are several modes of public transportation available across the whole of the Netherlands, including trains, metro systems, trams, and buses. Even if there are delays on the trains almost every other day and the fares for public transportation are somewhat expensive, the fact remains that everyone has the opportunity to go to the locations of their choosing thanks to public transportation.
11. Low crime rate
The Netherlands continues to rank among the least levels of crime in Europe, so it should come as no shock that this country is viewed as being among the safest places to live in all of the nations in the globe. The volume of police officers has also increased over the last several years, which implies that now there are more cops per inhabitant in The Netherlands than there have ever been previously. This is a first for the country. Recently, the government of the Netherlands made significant investments in order to strengthen the police force and ensure a reduction of crime that occurs throughout the whole nation.
10. Good quality of life
Because the average monthly rent in this wonderful nation is just 800 euros, even if you are on a strict budget, there will still be plenty of options for you to locate an apartment or home in this country. In the Netherlands, having a vehicle is not mandatory for residents. In fact, the usage of public transportation is quite widespread, and it is considered as one of the most productive in the whole globe. You will end up saving even more money as a result of this!
Both the unemployment level, which hovers around 4 percent, and salary levels are quite high in comparison to those in other European nations. In light of this, you can be certain that the economy of the Netherlands will continue to prosper in the years to come.
9. The level of racism is low
Because we are social creatures, we need to interact with other people on a regular basis and cultivate personal connections. The Dutch are a welcoming people that will not shy away from conversation and will make you feel at home in their nation. When coping with feelings of homesickness, it might be good to be a part of a welcoming community. It is not as simple to enter someone's inner circle of friends. When a Dutch person, on the other hand, welcomes you into their inner circle, you quickly realize how honest, loyal, loving, and welcoming they are. You could become acquaintances with folks in your neighborhood, at your place of employment, or in public places like parks and barbecues.
The Netherlands is a nation known for its tolerance and openness. The Dutch people are known for their warm hospitality and laid-back attitude toward visitors from other countries. This indicates that you will feel at ease in this location regardless of the kind of person that you are!
The culture of the Dutch quite varies as well. You will be able to discover cuisine, clothes, and entertainment that caters to your preferences in The Netherlands since the country is home to individuals from various corners of the globe. Because the Dutch are so fluent in English, there is no need for visitors to study the language of the country if they do not choose to. If you are searching for a destination where people of all backgrounds and beliefs are accepted without question, the culture of the Netherlands is one of the most accepting societies in all of Europe.

Castles & Estates | Recommended E25 | Welcome to The Netherlands

Don’t feel like travelling abroad? How about travelling in time!
The Netherlands has a huge array of castles, dotted around the country. We have listed five of our favourites for you to pay a visit.

Located only five kilometers from the beach, and surrounded by a thick forest, Kasteel de Wittenburg is a tranquil haven near the bustling city of The Hague. You are able to stay in their luxury chambers, that will make you feel like a king of past times.

Landgoed Rhederoord is the best kept secret of National Park “De Hoge Veluwe”. They offer genuine hospitality, like you would expect from a authentic estate. To top it all off, you will be able to experience fine dining with local, high quality dishes.

Castle Oud-Poelgeest is over 700 years old, and a stone’s throw away from the city of Leiden.
Previous occupants shaped the castle’s identity bit by bit, like professor Boerhaave. He planted peculiar trees and crops around the property. The rich history of the castle make it such a special place to visit.

StayOkay Domburg is a hostel in a rather unique place. This beautiful castle-hostel is located right next to the dunes and a 5-minute walk away from the beach. From the hostel, you can make beautiful cycle or hiking trips along the coast of Zeeland.

Estate Groot Warnsborn is the ideal place to have a luxurious stay and a culinary dinner.
Or have a hike in the forest. The estate is located 5 minutes from the centre of Arnhem, but you can still get lost in the 750 hectare of natural beauty.

Brunssumerheide Limburg
