Saarbrücken is the capital and largest city of the state of Saarland, Germany. Saarbrücken is Saarland's administrative, commercial and cultural centre. he city is situated next to the French border at the heart of the metropolitan area of Saarland. Saarbrücken was created in 1909 by the merger of three towns, Saarbrücken, St. Johann, and Malstatt-Burbach. It used to be the industrial and transport centre of the Saar coal basin. Products included iron and steel, sugar, beer, pottery, optical instruments, machinery, and construction materials.
Historic landmarks in the city include the stone bridge across the Saar (1546), the Gothic church of St. Arnual, the 18th-century Saarbrücken Castle, and the old part of the town, the Sankt Johanner Markt (Market of St. Johann). Twice in the 20th century Saarbrücken was separated from Germany: in 1920–35 as capital of the Territory of the Saar Basin and in 1947–56 as capital of the Saar Protectorate.
Some of the closest cities are Trier, Luxembourg, Nancy, Metz, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe and Mannheim. Saarbrücken is connected by the city's public transport network to the town of Sarreguemines in France, and to the neighboring town of Völklingen, where the old steel works were the first industrial monument to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994 — the Völklinger Hütte. The city is served by Saarbrücken Airport (SCN), and since June 2007 ICE high speed train services along the LGV Est line provide high speed connections to Paris from Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof. Saarbrücken's Saarbahn (modelled on the Karlsruhe model light rail) crosses the French–German border, connecting to the French city of Sarreguemines.

Welche Vorurteile kennst du zu Saarbrücken? Die Stadt soll düster, traurig und eher nicht so spannend sein? ✔ Über die Hauptstadt des Saarlandes gibt es viele Vorurteile. Ich habe auch welche. Um herauszufinden, was richtig und was falsch ist, schaue ich mir selbst einige Saarbrücker Sehenswürdigkeiten an. Meine ersten Impressionen von der saarländischen Landeshauptstadt? ✔ Ich finde, Saarbrücken hat viel weniger touristische Power als Hochburgen wie Berlin, München oder Heidelberg. Logisch ist auch, dass die „Saarstadt“ mit weniger als 200.000 Einwohnern nicht mit der einen oder anderen deutschen Metropole „mithalten“ kann. Trotzdem kann ich in Saarbrücken genug Sehenswürdigkeiten finden, um einen Wochenend-Städtetrip zu füllen. ✔ Um an dieser Stelle ein paar wenige zu nennen: eine Führung durch den Saarbrücker Rathausturm, das Saarbrücker Schloss und die unterirdischen „Höhlengänge“. Erfahre jetzt mehr darüber, was dich an verschiedenen Orten erwartet und ob sie eine Städtereise wert sind. ✔

Saarbrücken (or Saarbrucken 2023) îs the capital of the state Saarland in Germany. Saarbrucken means the bridge over the river Saar in German. The city is located next to the French border. The current city was formed in 1909 with the merger of St. Johann, Saarbrucken and Malstatt-Burbach. Highlights of the city include the old center, the Stonebridge across the river Saar, the Castle, the St. Annual Church and the Sankt Johanner Markt. Saarbrucken has a population of 330,000 and in its metropolitan area live 700,000 citizens.

Walking in KAISERSLAUTERN / Germany ????????- City Center and Japanese Garden - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Kaiserslautern / Germany is a city in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the southwest of the country. The historic center dates back to the 9th century. Today Kaiserslautern is home to about 100.000 people with additionally approximately 45.000 NATO military personnel. The military presence is a large contributing factor to the local economy.
We start our tour on this cloudy day at the Kaiserpfalz (Barbarossaburg). This former palace was a temporary seat for the roman emperor from the early and high middle ages. Nowadays a few red stones remain giving a small impression of the former glory.
On this walk we see the city centre with common shopping streets and a few churches. We walk to the Kaiserbrunnen on the eastern edge of the city center and head outwards to the Museum Pfalzgalerie.
The final part of this walk happens inside the Japanese Garden, where we take our time to check out this relaxing place.

Ich habe überlebt, die Eisenleiter auf dem Burghalder Weg | Eine spannende Wanderung bei Hauenstein
Gestartet am Freibad in Hauenstein, ging es der Beschilderung Burghalder Weg entlang.
Auf geht's zum Lanzenfahrter Felsen, dieser ist über eine Eisenleiter erreichbar, hier empfiehlt es sich den Rucksack unten zu lassen, sonst bleibt man des öfteren hängen. Oben hat man einen wunderschönen Rundumblick. Weiter des Weges kommt auch schon der Burghalder, der die Tour mit seinem Namen geprägt hat. Einst diente die Fliehburg einer karolingischen Talsiedlung im 9. Jahrhundert. Der Graben mit Abschnittsmauer ist noch deutlich vorhanden.
Weiter des Weges taucht der Wolfsfelsen auf, ebenfalls eine sehr imposante Felsformation. Doch zuvor kann man das uralte Lochgrenzzeichen Hasenteller bestaunen, dort befindet sich zudem der Sattelfelsen.
Weiter geht's in Richtung Paddelweiher, vorbei am Wanderheim Dicke Eiche. Kurz vorm Paddelweiher erscheinen die Stephanstürme auch Kamel genannt und der Hauensteiner Turm. Beeindruckende Felsen!
Ich war so fasziniert das ich die Route abgeändert habe und statt zum Paddelweiher den Felsenaufstieg wählte. Hat sich absolut gelohnt, auch wenn's anstrengend war.
Eine sehr zu empfehlende Tour, die mit knapp 10 km ohne Probleme machbar ist. Die Anstiege sind überschaubar und liegen unter 300 hm.
Started at the outdoor pool in Hauenstein, followed the signs Burghalder Weg.
Let's go to the Lanzenfahrer Felsen, which can be reached via an iron ladder. It is advisable to leave your rucksack down here, otherwise you will often get stuck. At the top you have a wonderful all-round view. Further along the way is the Burghalder, which gave the tour its name. The refuge castle once served a Carolingian valley settlement in the 9th century. The ditch with sectional wall is still clearly present.
Further along the way, the Wolfsfelsen appears, also a very impressive rock formation. But before that you can marvel at the ancient hole boundary sign Hasenteller, there is also the saddle rock.
We continue in the direction of Paddelweiher, past the Wanderheim Dicke Eiche. The Stephans Towers, also known as Kamel, and the Hauensteiner Turm appear just before the Paddelweiher. Impressive rocks!
I was so fascinated that I changed the route and chose the rock ascent instead of the Paddelweiher. It was absolutely worth it, even if it was exhausting.
A highly recommended tour that can be done without any problems at just under 10 km. The climbs are manageable and are less than 300 hm.
