10 Cheapest towns to live in Texas

10 Cheapest towns to live in Texas

Welcome back everyone let’s talk about Texas and where the cheapest place to live might be. Texas has become a hot spot for inward migration for some years now. If you are one of the people thinking about calling a realtor and a moving company. Maybe this video will help you find your new home.
The cheap places in Texas are going to be out of the way small towns. You won't find Houston, Dallas, or Austin on the list. Enjoy

If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. Most of these videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

Legacy on the Lake
Civilian Conservation Corps workers spent years building this special park in the heart of Texas. Today, their legacy endures. Stay in a historic cabin, walk the scenic trails, or play in or on the cool lake.

Things to Do
Water sports
The park sits on the shore of the 7,300-surface-acre Lake Brownwood. Reel in a fish, explore the lake by boat, or go for a swim. You can also water ski, Jet Ski and paddle.

Activities on land
Hike nearly six miles of trails. Rest on CCC-built benches along the way, and take in the view from the scenic and historic pavilion. Most trails are for hiking only, but the 2.89-mile Nopales Ridge Trail is also open to biking.

Hold your next reunion or meeting at one of our group halls. The CCC-built recreation hall is made of local natural materials, and its outdoor dance pavilion overlooks the lake.

Civilian Conservation Corps
The CCC built cabins, lodges, group facilities, benches, roads and more at the park. Be sure to visit the grand staircase, which early visitors climbed when they arrived by boat to attend dances at the pavilion.

Lake Brownwood State Park

Lake Brownwood State Park is about as close to the center of
Texas as you can get while staying at a Texas State Park.
With plenty of swimming, fishing and boating opportunities
it's a great option.

Lake Brownwood State Park is built on Lake Brownwood by the
CCC and also by the Texas National Guard. The lake was built
to help control flooding in the nearby town of Brownwood. The
state park offers plenty of camping opportunities for tent, RV
with full hook up, and even fully furnished cabins with linens
bathrooms and kitchens. There are several hiking trails to
enjoy rock formations along the lake edge, as well as swimming
areas, volleyball, basketball and boating.

Places To Visit in Texas

#1 Hamilton Pool

Hamilton Pool is a natural spring formed in the limestone bedrock and fed by an underground river, which also feeds the small tributaries and lush flora surrounding the pool. The abundant freshwater has allowed a diverse population of trees and vegetation to emerge surrounding the pool, forming what is now a protected nature preserve.

The first thing visitors marvel at is the deep overhang etched into the far wall of the pool — remnants of a natural dome that once concealed the entire grotto underground until it collapsed more than a century ago. The sheer cavern now provides deep shade and rocky exploration for visitors.

#2 Museum of the Weird

THE DIME OR DIME STORE museum is by all accounts an endangered species. The first dime museum, “The American Museum,” was opened in 1841 by none other than P. T. Barnum himself. It represented a departure from high-class art and science museums, catering to a poorer crowd and offering items of a much more dubious nature.

Part of the appeal of the dime store museum lay in arguing about what was real and what was a “humbug,” as P. T. Barnum called a hoax or fake display. Feejee mermaids (a type of fake or “gaff” taxidermy made from a monkey and a fish, sewn together to form an incredibly ugly “mermaid”) mixed with real exotic animals, and scientific instruments sat next to a loom run by a dog. Unfortunately, Barnum’s American Museum burned to the ground in 1865.

#3 Cathedral of Junk

TUCKED UNSUSPECTINGLY IN A SUBURBAN backyard in South Austin, is Vince Hannemann’s towering Cathedral of Junk.

Some 60 tons of discarded items, many of them bicycles, make up the skeleton and decoration of the structure. The construction of the Cathedral started in 1989, when Hannemann was in his 20s. For a few years he collected junk for his project, but it was soon unnecessary as people began to supply him with their unwanted goods.

Still a work in progress, the Cathedral of Junk is evolving. There once stood a three-story tower in the back of the Cathedral, but Hannemann tore it down thinking he was finally done with his long-lasting project. But instead of dismantling the Cathedral further, and after having had a change of heart, he added three more rooms to the structure with the pieces of the former tower.

#4 Fort Worth Water Gardens

DESIGNED BY ARCHITECT PHILIP JOHNSON, the Fort Worth Water Gardens are a modernist landscape of vortex-like pools and futuristic angles.

The park opened in downtown Fort Worth in 1974 on a just over four acre site. The area itself used to be known as Hell’s Half-Acre when it was full of brothels and saloons, and the Water Gardens were a way to revitalize the area.

A quiet, meditation pool is surrounded by trees where waterfalls cascade down the walls. Nearby is an aeration pool where 40 nozzles spray 871 gallons of water every minute. The mist from the nozzles creates the illusion of a water bridge connecting one side of the walkway to the other. In the middle of the park is a “Mountain” where terraced concrete rises up in a modernist peak.

#5 Uncommon Objects

LIKE AN ELEGANT ANTIQUES MALL gone horribly wrong, 24 different vendors sell their weird and eclectic wares in eyecatching booth displays lined up along aisles at Austin’s premier curiosities shop. It’s been described as “your eccentric uncle’s attic on steroids.” And remember, this is no museum. This stuff is for sale.

Uncommon Objects opened in 1991. The founder, Steve Weiman, is a collector and assemblage artist who honed his eye for Texas style kitsch and memorabilia during a stint as prop-finder for the Chili’s restaurant chain.
