???? Why did you document the city of Prague by tram? ????

I started documenting the city of Prague by riding different trams because I love this city very much, and I would like to keep this memory of this city for the Czech people and people who love the city of Prague. I like to sit on the tram and observe the people and the city.

I am originally from Hong Kong, and I did my master’s degree in theatre in Prague. I have a huge attachment to Prague because of its history, the velvet revolution, how artists survived through the suppression from the communist party, Vaclav Havel…etc. For Hong Kongers, we follow a lot of Czech history because it resonates with the political situation in Hong Kong right now, and it gives Hong Kongers insights and gives us hope in the darkest time of our history.

I felt very regretful when I was young. I didn’t document my own city - Hong Kong. It has changed rapidly since 2019 - the water revolution. Our languages and culture are disappearing…the city has changed so much that we can’t recognize it.

This reason drives me to document the city of Prague. I think it is important to document people, cities, and things you love as you will never know when it will change and how quickly it will change.

A gift for the Czech people and the people who love this city. ❤️

MONEY CULTURE IN CZECHIA (Prague vs. Los Angeles)

What is the money culture in Czechia? Well, I can't generalize, but I can tell you the difference between the money cultures of Prague vs. Los Angeles. Beer might be cheaper than water in Czech Republic—which is great for tourists—but what about when you live and work here? Is the cost of living really that low? Here are some differences I've observed in the ways Praguers and Angelenos interact with money.

4k Prague walk along tram lines: Národní, Spálená, Myslíkova, Slavonic Island - Czech Republic????????

In this 4k Prague walk, we will move from Narodni street, along Spalena street, then Myslikova street, and end our trip on Slavonic Island.

Národní, formerly Národní třída, is one of the critical avenues in Prague, Czech Republic. It is placed on the boundary of New Town and Old Town, in the southwest direction from the city's center. This avenue connects Legion Bridge bridge with Jungmannovo náměstí. In medieval times, there were fortification walls. On Friday, 17 November 1989, riot police violently suppressed a peaceful student demonstration, which is thought of as the initiation of the Velvet Revolution. Národní třída continued to be an eventful locale during the rest of the revolution.

Spálená street arose along the route that once connected Vyšehrad with the Old Town market and Prague Castle. The course went through a scarcely populated area known as Mezihrady (Between the Castles) and mainly through a terrain safely distant from the reach of the frequent floods of the Vltava River. In contrast to the usual straight lines of the street design in the New Town, this street retained the meandering course and width of the original route. The first name of the road was Kovářská (the street of smiths) and later Flašnéřská (the street of tinsmiths), after the predominant profession of its residents. The current name Spálená (the burnt road) was given after the great fire of 1506, which turned to ashes more than twenty buildings, although, as a witness had it, even the Jews extinguished the fire, praised by the burghers. The executioner exercised one of his arts, i.e., he exorcised the fire(a quotation from a medieval chronicle).

Myslíkova is a Prague street in New Town and runs along with Prague 1 in the north and Prague 2 in the south. The street connects Masaryk's embankment by the Vltava with Spálena Street by Charles Square. This fork of the road forms a small square. This street is also the border between the city districts of Prague 1 and Prague 2. The street is on a gentle slope, mostly built up by apartment buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when it became a road with many shops. Famous companies such as the evangelical publishing house and the Blahoslav bookstore (transformed into an antiquarian bookshop after 1990) or a pharmacy, a wooden Art Nouveau portal with a cut relief of Hygeia has been preserved, took turns here. Of the traditional restaurants, only U Bubeníčků remained under its original name. Currently, there are 162 companies, including the Czech Association of Pedagogical Research, a branch of the Faculty of Education, Charles University, optics, spices, oriental food, stylish furniture, cafes and tea houses, two hotels, a dance school, etc. The Belgian Embassy is located in Myslík House. kingdom.
Corner house Myslíkova 22 to Odborů and Na zbořenci streets
The street was established with the founding of the New Town in 1348 by a decree of King Charles IV. The settlement originated around the Church of St. Peter and Paul, and after the establishment of the New Town, it was incorporated into it. Later, the name Pasířská prevailed according to the craftsmen living here. Another temporary name was around 1700 according to grain merchants Žitná, while today's Žitná Street was called Žitnobranská. The name of Myslíkova Street dates back to about 1884, it bears the name of the local burgher Adam Myslík from Hyršov, Radice and Košíře and the founder of the Myslíkov family from Hyršov, the name was created by mistake. The house on the corner of Myslíkova and Spálená streets did not belong to Adam Myslík, as the memorial plaque on the house states, but to Eliáš Myslich of Vilimštejn, a valet at the provincial plaques in the 17th century.

Slavonic Island (Slovanský ostrov)
This island, the only one on the Vltava River with significant landscaping, is dominated by the spectacular neo-Renaissance Žofín Palace - a traditional venue for balls and concerts, where Ferenc Liszt and Hector Berlioz played, and in 1863 Richard Wagner conducted a concert here.

Smetana Embankment (Smetanovo nábřeží) in the Old Town of Prague runs along the right bank of the Vltava from the Legion Bridge to Charles Bridge. It is named after the world-famous Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, who had a music school here in the Lažanský Palace from 1868–to 1869. The Smetana Embankment was built between 1841-and 1845; it was initially called Old Town Embankment, later, in 1894, it was renamed Františe Embankment, and from 1919 it was called Masaryk Embankment. During World War II, it held two names; between 1940-and 1942, it was the Vltava Embankment, and then from 1942-to 1945, Reinhard Heydrich Ufer. It had the name of the first president of Czechoslovakia, T.G. Masaryk, again after the war, and later it got its current name – Smetana Embankment. Named after Bedřich Smetana, a prolific and distinguished Czech composer, the embankment is an ideal area for strolls, relaxing, and sunbathing and boasts a magnificent view of Prague Castle, especially in the morning or evening, when the sun is low. At night this area becomes alive with clubbing as the endless bars and clubs open up to locals and tourists. You won't regret going out and spending the night dancing in one of the famous clubs.

Národní, formerly Národní třída, is one of the critical avenues in Prague, Czech Republic. It is placed on the boundary of New Town and Old Town, in the southwest direction from the city's center. On Friday, 17 November 1989, riot police violently suppressed a peaceful student demonstration, which is thought of as the initiation of the Velvet Revolution. Národní třída continued to be an eventful locale during the rest of the revolution.

Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)
This Square is the commercial and administrative center of the city as well as the site of important social and historical events. Here you'll find cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, dozens of small and large shops, and administrative centers. The Square was created during the founding of the New Town by Charles IV in 1348. Today it is dominated by the National Museum (1885 – 1891) and Josef Václav Myslbek's statue of the national patron St Wenceslas from 1912.

Na prikope (Na Příkopě) is a street in the center of Prague, Czech Republic, connecting Wenceslas Square with Republic Square.
It separates the Old Town from the New Town. It is a place of representative buildings, including the headquarters of the Czech National Bank, old palaces, and luxurious shops.
Na Příkopě street leads on the site of former 10-meter-wide and 8-meter-deep moat from 1234, which led along the medieval walls of the Old Town. Water flowed directly from the Vltava river, and when the moat was filled, the Old Town formed a closed island. The moat was covered in 1760. After wrapping, chestnut trees were planted here, and the street was named Ve starých alejích (In old alleys). In 1845-70 the street was named Kolowratská třída and since 1871 bears the name Na Příkopě.
Because it was one of the few vast streets in Prague, it soon became a traffic artery. Since 1875, the first line of the Prague horse-drawn tram has been lead here, electrified since 1899. In 1919, Můstek became the first intersection in Prague controlled by a traffic policeman. In 1927, then the second intersection with the light signaling.
On the street appeared many new stores, and it became an important business center of Prague's promenade.
