Kassel is a city located on the Fulda River in northern Hesse, Germany. Kassel is the administrative seat of the Regierungsbezirk Kassel and the Kreis of the same name. The former capital of the state of Hesse-Kassel has many palaces and parks, including the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kassel is also known for the documenta exhibitions of contemporary art.
Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe includes Wilhelmshöhe Palace (with the Antiquities Collection and Old Masters), the Hercules monument, and the Lions Castle. Wilhelmshöhe Palace above the city, was built in 1786 by landgrave Wilhelm IX of Hesse-Kassel. The palace is now a museum and houses an important collection of Graeco-Roman antiques and a fine gallery of paintings comprising the second largest collection of Rembrandts in Germany. It is surrounded by the beautiful Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe with many appealing sights. The complex was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.
Another large park and also part of the European Garden Heritage Network is the Karlsaue along the Fulda River. Established in the 16th century, it is famous for the Orangerie, a palace built in 1710 as a summer residence for the landgraves. Today, the Orangerie contains the Museum of Astronomy and Technology, with a scale model of the Solar System spanning the entire park and beyond. In addition, the Park Schönfeld contains a small, municipal botanical garden, the Botanischer Garten Kassel.
Kassel has seven tram lines (1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), with trams arriving usually every 15 minutes. The city also operates a light rail Stadtbahn network called RegioTram using Regio Citadis low-floor trams which run on both tram and main line railway tracks with four lines (RT3, RT4, RT5, RT9). Moreover, a number of low-floor buses complete the Kassel public transport system. The introduction of low-floor buses led to the development of the Kassel kerb which improves the accessibility at bus stops. The city is connected to the national rail network at two stations, Kassel Central, and Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. The traditional central station (Hauptbahnhof) has been reduced to the status of a regional station since the opening of the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line in 1991 and its station (Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe) on the high-speed line at which the InterCityExpress (ICE) and InterCity services call. Kassel is connected to the motorways A 7, A 49 and A 44. The city is served by Kassel Calden Airport.

he Löwenburg is a built in 1793 pleasure palace in Kassel Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. The castle, built as an artificial castle ruin , stands above the Wilhelmshöhe Castle in the southern part of the Bergpark and thus south of the visual axis Schloss Wilhelmshöhe- Herkules at about 350 m above sea level. NN on the eastern edge of the Hoher Habichtswald . The Löwenburg served its builder landgrave Wilhelm IX. from Hesse-Kassel as a private retreat and in 1821 also his tomb. In terms of art history, the facility is considered groundbreaking, as one of the first important buildings of the Gothic Revival in Germany.
The castle, which was inspired by a hilltop castle, was designed by Heinrich Christoph Jussow between 1793 and 1801, ie centuries after the actual construction of castles in Germany. It is the imitation of a medieval knight's castle and was built, romantically historicizing, deliberately as an artificial ruin. Initially planned only as a ruinous tower with outbuildings, eventually a complete castle complex was created, which is grouped around a courtyard. The plant served the landgrave as a residence for himself and his mistress Karoline von Schlotheim . In 1821 he became Elector in 1803Wilhelm I raised landgrave buried in a crypt under the castle chapel. The lion castle was built from the beginning of less weather-resistant hawk tuff , which was available near the site and is easy to work.
Until 1945, the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Force flew several attacks on Kassel. The city suffered the heaviest attack on October 22, 1943. Due to the armaments industry and above all the dense development in the old town area with the slightly fire-catching half-timbered houses Kassel moved according to the Area Bombing Directive early on the list of cities, for a firebombing attack especially appeared suitable. This was the keepthe Löwenburg mostly destroyed (only the stair tower with some remains of walls remained) and large parts of the facility, including the kitchen and connector construction, severely damaged. Reconstruction in the post-war years was rather expedient and characterized by functionality rather than attention to detail. In 1957 extensive reconstruction work was carried out in the women's building, which had the goal to be able to take up sheltered inventory from the destroyed keep. The works are not finished yet. The keep is currently being reconstructed and is scheduled to reopen in 2022 with a 25 meter viewing platform.
The interiors consist of four princely residential apartments in baroque style. In an armory there are numerous historical weapons and plate armor of the 16th and 17th centuries. The castle chapel is equipped with numerous objects of medieval churches from the northern Hessian environment and has a crypt with the tomb of the elector under the choir. Numerous pieces of equipment of the historical collection, which was outsourced during the war, are still in depots or are exhibited at Schloss Friedrichstein . Their return should not take place until the reconstruction of the castle is completed. The interiors can be visited as part of guided tours.

Modellbundesbahn - Eine Bahnreise in Spur H0 mit der Deutschen Bundesbahn in den Sommer 1975
Im Laufe der letzten Jahrzehnte hat sich im Bereich der Modelleisenbahn bzw. Modellbahn nicht nur die Technik im Modellbau verändert, sondern auch insgesamt die Philosophie, wie beispielsweise eine Modelleisenbahnausstellung bzw. eine Modellbahnausstellung zu gestalten ist. So bauen die einen lieber eine Spur H0 Anlage, die als Ausflugsziel und Touristenattraktion für die ganze Familie geeignet ist, während sich die anderen bei einer Schauanlage auf den absolut authentischen Nachbau spezialisiert haben. Es gibt Modellbahnanlagen, auf denen kunterbunt zusammengewürfelte Züge aus unterschiedlichen Epochen fahren, dann wiederum gibt es Modelleisenbahnanlagen, die sich streng am historischen Vorbild orientieren.
Es steht allerdings außer Frage, dass für korrekte Zuggarnituren, gealterte Lokomotiven, Gebäude und authentisch gestaltete Landschaften immer ein enormer Zeit- und Arbeitsaufwand investiert werden muß. Daher verwundert es auch nicht, dass es nur sehr wenige, öffentliche Modellanlagen gibt, die ein wahres Abbild der Realität widerspiegeln. Eine solche Schauanlage, die an Authentizität nur schwer zu übertreffen ist, ist die „Modellbundesbahn“, die am 14. Oktober 2005 in Bad Driburg eröffnet, später im Jahre 2009 um einen weiteren Abschnitt vergrößert und seit dem 26. Mai 2018 am neuen Standort in Brakel wiedereröffnet wurde.
Daher ist es Pennula ein besonderes Anliegen gewesen, die im Mai 2018 wiedereröffnete „Modellbundesbahn“ vorzustellen. Während in den vielen Videofilmen von Pennula bislang immer sehr viel Wert darauf gelegt wurde, nur den echten Ton von Lokomotiven und Zügen wiederzugeben und dabei bewußt auf einen Audio-Kommentar zu verzichten, wäre es gerade bei der „Modellbundesbahn“, die heute von Karl Fischer und Norbert Sickmann betreut wird, ein nur absolut unbefriedigendes Filmdokument, wenn auf zusätzliche Erklärungen verzichtet würde. Daher wird in diesem Videofilm die „Modellbundesbahn“ nicht nur mit verschiedenen Führerstandsmitfahrten und besonderen Kameraeinstellungen präsentiert, sondern auch mit einem Interview, das Pennula mit Karl Fischer und Norbert Sickmann während der Dreharbeiten geführt hat.
Die Modellbundesbahn, die damals als „Modellbahnschau in Bad Driburg“ oder als „Modelleisenbahn Ottbergen“ bezeichnet wurde, zeigt den authentischen Zugbetrieb wie er im Weserbergland im Sommer 1975 in der Eisenbahnrealität stattgefunden hat. Karl Fischer erzählt in diesem Videofilm, wie es überhaupt zu der Idee gekommen ist, nicht nur eine Nachempfindung vom Bahnbetriebswerk Ottbergen, sondern eben auch einen exakten Nachbau im Maßstab 1/87 als Schauanlage zu erschaffen. Aus dem ursprünglichen Hobbygedanke entstand im Laufe der Zeit das Bewußtsein, dass man die Eisenbahngeschichte des Weserberglandes eben nur als Schauanlage umsetzen konnte, weil es ein spezielles Thema ist. Eine Zeitreise und ein Dokument der Zeitgeschichte.
Ebenso erläutert Norbert Sickmann zum einen, wie er selbst zum „Modellbundesbahner“ geworden ist, und zum anderen, welche Technik zum Einsatz kommt. So erfahren die Zuschauer von Pennula, dass bei der „Modellbundesbahn“ das Tillig-Elite-Gleis verbaut wurde, als Weichenantriebe Servos genutzt werden, die Steuerung der Modellbahnanlage über die RMX-Zentrale von Rautenhaus erfolgt und mit dem Programm „TrainController“ gefahren wird.
Darüber hinaus werden die Spezialitäten angesprochen, wie etwa der automatische Lokwechsel, das automatisches Zug-Rangier-System oder das rollende Material, das u.a. von Roco, BRAWA, KATO sowie von Märklin stammt. Ebenso verweisen Karl Fischer und Norbert Sickmann darauf, dass der Umzug von Bad Driburg nach Brakel die einzige Möglichkeit war, überhaupt mit der „Modellbundesbahn“ künftig weiterzumachen. Im Hintergrund wurde bereits eifrig für drei neue Anlagenabschnitte geplant und schon sehr bald wird die „Modellbundesbahn“ vergrößert. Im Video werden auch die neuen Funktionsmodelle sowie insbesondere das Car System mit der mittlerweile schon berühmten Radarfalle vorgestellt.
Schließlich hat Pennula nicht alles filmen können, was die „Modellbundesbahn“ bietet. In der neuen Ausstellungshalle, die nun 675 m² Stellfläche bietet, nimmt die derzeitige Modellbahnanlage knapp 100 m² Fläche ein. Und auf diesen 100 m² gibt es immer wieder kleine Details zu entdecken, so dass nur ein Drehtag oder nur ein Besuchstag definitiv nicht ausreicht, um die Anlage vollständig kennenzulernen. So gäbe noch Vieles zu erzählen und zu schreiben, doch man sollte die Möglichkeit nutzen, die „Modellbundesbahn“ demnächst persönlich zu besuchen. Einen Vorgeschmack hierzu bietet der Gleisplan bzw. eine Art Übersichtsplan, der auf der Internetseite von Pennula unter zum Download zur Verfügung steht.

The Hercules monument is a significant landmark in Kassel, Germany. It is situated in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in northern Hesse, Germany.
Hercules is a copper statue of Heracles (Gr. H, German Herkules), an ancient Greek demigod. The statue sits atop a Pyramid, which stands above an Octagon; the statue and the other sections of the monument were built on various dates. Today, the term Hercules refers to the entire monument, including the Octagon and Pyramid. The Wilhelmshöhe Bergpark's highest point is the monument.
