Meeting with an NGO in Central African Republic

So grateful for how a not-so-great experience turned into getting to meet her! We were so inspired by the work she is doing. Things are difficult for many people living in Central African Republic and we wanted to share a little bit about what we learned about Central African Republic and the unimaginable difficulties people are facing.

First, where is the country? Landlocked in the heart of the African continent, it’s home to some of the continent’s deepest rainforests and vast savannahs, making for a very diverse landscape. But its recent history has been an uncertain and difficult one.

The nation is one of the least stable in Africa. And in recent years that instability has only risen. While we were there, we saw several armed vehicles driving through the city. Some from the government, UN, and various militia. Although we are used to seeing armed vehicles in countries, this was a first for us seeing so many different armed groups in the same area. It reminded us of what the people of Central African Republic have faced for most of their lives.

Through talking with people, we learned that despite these difficulties, the people of this nation continue to show resilience and determination, striving for a brighter future. The lady running the NGO told us of communities who have banded together to help each other despite the unimaginable uncertainty that they face. So we were so glad to learn more and meet people who care so much to help the incredible people of the Central African Republic.
