Il nostro viaggio nell'Olocausto è iniziato da Amsterdam, dove nel 1° episodio di questa mini serie, vi abbiamo mostrato in esclusiva la Casa di Anna Frank, il nascondiglio, l'annesso segreto dove non è consentito fare foto e video ma che, grazie all'associazione Anne Frank huis di Amsterdam, vi abbiamo potuto mostrare.

A seguire vi abbiamo mostrato sempre nei Paesi Bassi, il campo di concentramento di Westerbork, il luogo dove transitavano quasi tutti gli ebrei olandesi così come Anna Frank e la sua famiglia, prima di essere poi deportati verso Auschwitz, Birkenau, Bergen-Belsen.
Ma quando parliamo di Olocausto, Shoah e Seconda Guerra Mondiale, solitamente l'associazione facile è quella con Germania, Nazismo ed Hitler. In realtà, oggi vi portiamo in Italia perchè anche noi abbiamo contribuito al massacro di innocenti. Oggi vi apriamo le porte della Risiera di San Sabba, ci troviamo a Trieste. Questo è stato l'unico lager Italiano con forno crematorio, qui morirono circa 5000 innocenti.

Cuneo is a city and comune in Piedmont, Northern Italy, the capital of the province of Cuneo, the third largest of Italy’s provinces by area. It is located at 550 metres in the south-west of Piedmont, at the confluence of the rivers Stura and Gesso. There is a raft of reasons why you should drop by stately Cuneo, not least being the food, the bike friendliness, the hiking possibilities nearby, and, last but certainly not least, the city's signature rum-filled chocolates.
Sitting on a promontory of land between two rivers, Cuneo also provides excellent Alpine views framed by the high pyramid-shaped peak of Monte Viso (3841m) in the Cottian Alps.
Including all bordering municipalities Beinette, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Boves, Busca, Caraglio, Castelletto Stura, Centallo, Cervasca, Morozzo, Peveragno, Tarantasca and Vignolo the population is 123,301 inhabitants. It is near six important mountain passes:
Colle della Maddalena at 1,996 metres (6,549 ft)
Colle di Tenda at 1,871 metres (6,138 ft) - Tunnel of Tenda at 1,300 metres (4,300 ft), 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) long
Colle del Melogno at 1,027 metres (3,369 ft)
Colle San Bernardo at 957 metres (3,140 ft)
Colle di Nava at 934 metres (3,064 ft)
Colle di Cadibona at 459 metres (1,506 ft).
Cuneo was founded in 1198 by the local population, who declared it an independent commune, freeing themselves from the authority of the bishops of Asti and the marquisses of Montferrat and Saluzzo. In 1210 the latter occupied it, and in 1231 the Cuneesi rebelled. In 1238 they were recognized as free commune by Emperor Frederick II.
In 1259 the independence of Cuneo ceased forever, as it gave itself, also to take protection against its more powerful neighbours, to Charles I of Anjou, who was then King of Naples and Count of Provence. Together with Alba, it was the main Angevine possession in Northern Italy; their rule (in fact interrupted by periods under Saluzzo, Savoy, the Visconti of Milan) ended in 1382 when Cuneo was acquired by the Duchy of Savoy.

Most important and populated: Centro storico, Cuneo centro, Cuneo nuova, San Paolo, Donatello, Gramsci, San Rocco, Cerialdo, Confreria and Borgo San Giuseppe. Cuneo's specialty is Cuneesi al rhum, chocolates with a unique rum-based filling. The most famous brand is Arione, located in Piazza Galimberti (the city's central square). Arione, founded in 1923, has kept its traditional furniture.

Every Tuesday the city of Cuneo in Piemonte is transformed into a giant market. Our local friends recommended an organic vegetable vendor and we decided to pick up some other items as well. We show you some of our favorite vendors and what we purchased from them.
We also walk through the beautiful old town of Cuneo and have an interesting lunch at Famu. This bistro is run by a local dairy producer so the menu features a lot of items with cheese and yoghurt. Stijn ends up ordering the cheesiest cheeseburger ever.

Oi, gente. Como vocês estão? Nós continuaremos na região de Piemonte, na Itália, mas dessa vez conheceremos a cidade de Cuneo. Ela fica a apenas 2 horas carro de Turim, 3 horas de Milão e 4 horas de Genoa. No entanto, essa cidade possui aeroporto próprio. Caso seja de seu interesse chegar lá por esse meio, é necessário conferir com bastante antecedência a disponibilidade pois a quantidade de vôos é bem restrita. Importante frisar que caso você não queira alugar um carro para se locomover, é bem possível conseguir visitar alguns de seus principais pontos andando apenas a pé. Andando pela Via Roma você encontrará igrejas, a prefeitura, diversos restaurantes com uma culinária de tirar o fôlego. Ainda, a arquitetura das igrejas existentes nessa cidade é incrivelmente linda.Recomendo veementemente que vocês conheçam principal a Sant'Ambrogio Church. Espero que vocês tenham gostado do vídeo, até semana que vem.

Day 8: Torino-Nice Rally Sommer 2022

After a good breakfast at the Rifugio Gardetta, I rode to Colle Cologna on a beautiful path with wonderful views. The mountain passes Colle Margherina, Colle d'Ancoccia and Colle Valcavera followed. On the descent to Demonte I met the five Irishmen again. Accompanied by a group of racing cyclists, we rode into the small town of Demonte. After saying goodbye to the racing cyclists, we stopped at a restaurant because it was time for lunch. Together we continued on small side roads and after another twenty kilometres treated ourselves to a fine ice cream in Borgo San Dalmazzo. From then on, the Irish wanted to continue on the main road. However, my navigation system showed a route via side roads, so I took the lead and continued to Vernante. From there it was uphill and sweaty on the main road to Limone Piemonte. Everyone rode at their own pace. Three Irishmen arrived in Limone Piemonte before me and two after me. In the very beautiful town, one went shopping while the others guarded the bikes. Of course, we also stopped to have a drink and something to eat. Afterwards, the Irish went on to their booked hotel. But after finding out the hotel prices in Limone Piemonte via Google, I decided to ride as far up Colle di Tenda as possible. I didn't get very far, however, as the weather changed. Rain, thunderstorms and rain again set in. It also got dark faster than before, at least that's how it seemed to me. Anyway, I pitched my tent in the ski area of Panice Soprana, right in front of a small chapel, in the rain and darkness, after first wanting to sleep on a bench under the canopy, but I was harassed by a fox. My pulse had never been so high on this tour.... What a fright when we looked each other straight in the eye at a distance of twenty centimetres.
