8 Worst Towns to Live in Northern Ireland

Let us put it in the right context before we take it so far. The expression “worst towns” here is going to be subjective and relative. This is because Northern Ireland is a generally good place to live. Regardless of how good a region is, however, some parts of it will be better than others. On the other hand, those parts of the region that are not regarded as the best are in that context not so good. And if all of the parts of a region are just good, the “least good” among them is invariably the worst. It is in that sense that we now want to show you the 8 worst towns to live in Northern Ireland.
8. Ballymena
Let’s begin with Ballymena, a large town in County Antrim. The town with a population of more than 29,000 is the 8th-largest town in the region by population. But it’s also one of the worst towns to live in Northern Ireland. Gone are those days when the town was prosperous and when a lot of factories were providing job opportunities.
The town has now suffered from a gripping recession that not only deterred investment in manufacturing but also stressed out existing shopping centers. Though some attempts have been made to rejuvenate the town economically, the unemployment rate is still very high. The shopping centers are no longer bustling as they used to be due to badly reduced purchasing power and low demands in the town. Besides, there are several rough areas such as Harryville in the town. Generally, the town that hosts 7 towers lacks prosperity, though it’s one of the safest places to live for people with legitimate business dealings.
7. Lurgan
Lurgan is another large town on this list. It is in County Armagh near the southern shore of Lough Neagh. The town is located about 18 miles southwest of Belfast having been linked together by the M1 motorway. Additionally, the Belfast-Dublin railway line serves this town with a population of 28,634 within the Armagh, Banbridge, and Craigavon districts.
Even then, it is one of the worst towns. It is divided along the religious line, no thanks to the housing anomaly. This is especially apparent in its worst part. Many of the people born in the town would prefer not to live there if they are not landlords. Houses there are usually up for buying to own not to rent. That is why it’s not a good place to live in Northern Ireland for foreigners. You will get rental areas only on Ardboe Drive and Trasna Way. But in Pollock Drive and Grey Estate, you’re in for a completely different experience.
6. Strabane
We’re now in County Tyrone to find the town named Strabane. Lying on the east bank of the Foyle River, it had a population of 13,172. It is located roughly midway from Omagh, Derry, and Letterkenny. Strabane is also on this list of the 8 worst towns to live in Northern Ireland.
Strabane has remained stuck to that unpopular tag not only in NI but also in the UK as a whole. For instance, out of 317 local authority areas in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, it is the 8th worst to live, according to the research carried out by Channel 4. The research measured 5 criteria homebuyers always consider namely crime, education, employment, environment, and lifestyle. The town performed woefully in all of them. It has been ranking badly for livability for years on end.

Blackrock Village County Dublin Ireland

his weel I take a walk around B Blackrock County Dublin Ireland
Blackrock is a suburb of Dublin, Ireland, 3 km northwest of Dún Laoghaire.
Blackrock had a beach that was a popular bathing place until the construction of the railway close to the shoreline. The space between the shore and the railway created an area that flooded with seawater at high tide. This created a malodorous salty marsh similar to that at Booterstown marsh. This marsh was a cause of local discomfort for years until it was decided by the Blackrock Town Commissioners (established in 1860) to fill the area in and create a park. The park, which stretches from Blackrock to Booterstown (encompassing Williamstown), was created in the early 1870s. The granite gates at the main entrance once belonged to a house called Vauxhall. The gardens at the entrance were part of the gardens of the old house.

Walking Dublin’s South Coast, part i (full episode Tracks & Trails)

Ross Lewis is an Irish Michelin star chef and proprietor of restaurant Chapter One. In this episode he takes to the urban Tracks and Trails, which meander along the coastal line of South Dublin.

Passing the Martello tower in Booterstown, Ross follows the railway line to Blackrock, where he stops to visit Heron and Grey, a small successful restaurant tucked away in Blackrock Market, one of Dublin’s oldest markets. He heads out towards the coast and picks up the seaside walk at Seapoint between Blackrock and Monkstown. Along the way he passes many of the Martello Towers which were originally defence forts built in the 1800’s and many have become meeting points for sea swimming.
Ross walks to Dun Laoghaire and on the way he passes through Glasthule to meet the owner Cavistons, a well-known fish shop founded in the 1940’s when Glasthule was a rural village. After sampling some oysters he travels on through Sandycove and yet another Martello tower which today is a James Joyce museum. Then onto the town of Dalkey passing Bullock Harbour, a very traditional fishing harbour, where boats still set out for their daily catch. Dalkey is one of the oldest towns in South Dublin, here Ross meets David McWilliams an economist, who grew up in Dalkey, who sets Ross straight on whether Dalkey is a town or a village!

3 Great Restaurants in Dublin, Ireland for Irish Food #ireland

If you're visiting Dublin, Ireland, here are three great food spots to check out...

Irish cuisine is hearty, comforting, and rooted in traditional ingredients and cooking techniques. Potatoes, a staple of Irish cuisine, feature prominently in dishes like colcannon (mashed potatoes with cabbage or kale) and boxty (potato pancakes). Irish stews, such as the famous Irish lamb stew, are flavorful combinations of tender meat, root vegetables, and herbs. Another beloved dish is the traditional Irish breakfast, featuring items like bacon, sausage, black and white pudding, eggs, and grilled tomatoes. Seafood plays a significant role, with dishes like smoked salmon, seafood chowder, and fish and chips being popular. Soda bread, a simple and dense bread made with baking soda, is a traditional accompaniment to meals. Irish desserts include classics like apple pie, bread and butter pudding, and rich chocolate Guinness cake. And of course, no exploration of Irish cuisine is complete without a pint of Guinness, Ireland's iconic dark stout beer. Overall, Irish food reflects the country's rustic charm, reliance on local ingredients, and a warmth that mirrors its people.

Historical DUBLIN & WICKLOW | Power Court Waterfalls - One of the Highest in Ireland | 48hours trip

Dublin (/ˈdʌblɪn/, locally /ˈdʊb-/; Irish: Baile Átha Cliath[11] [ˈbˠalʲə aːhə ˈclʲiə; ˌbʲlʲaː ˈclʲiə]) is the capital and largest city of Ireland.[12][13] Situated on a bay on the east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey, it lies within the province of Leinster. It is bordered on the south by the Dublin Mountains, a part of the Wicklow Mountains range. It has an urban area population of 1,173,179,[7] while the population of the Dublin Region (formerly County Dublin) as of 2016 was 1,347,359.[14] The population of the Greater Dublin Area was 1,904,806 per the 2016 census.[15]

There is archaeological debate regarding precisely where Dublin was established by the Gaels in or before the 7th century AD.[16] Later expanded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin, the city became Ireland's principal settlement following the Norman invasion.[16] The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire after the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.

Dublin is an historical and contemporary centre for education, the arts, administration and industry. As of 2018 the city was listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city, with a ranking of Alpha minus, which places it amongst the top thirty cities in the world.

Wicklow (/ˈwɪkloʊ/ WIK-loh; Irish: Cill Mhantáin, meaning church of the toothless one) is the county town of County Wicklow in Ireland. It is located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island. According to the 2016 census, it has a population of 10,584. The town is to the east of the M11 route between Dublin and Wexford. It also has railway links to Dublin, Wexford, Arklow, and Rosslare Europort. There is also a commercial port for timber and textile imports. The River Vartry is the main river flowing through the town.

Powerscourt Waterfall, known in Irish as Eas Chonaill, lies at the base of the Glensoulan valley, a hanging valley, through which the River Dargle flows from its source on the southern slopes of Tonduff mountain, eventually falling into the steep corrie in which the waterfall lies.[2]

Several mountains surround the upper section of the Glensoulan valley in a horseshoe-shape, being: Maulin 570 metres (1,870 ft), Tonduff 642 metres (2,106 ft), War Hill 686 metres (2,251 ft), and Djouce 725 metres (2,379 ft).[2] The waterfall is bounded by Crone Woods on its northern section.

Tram Line in Dublin IRELAND

#LUAS #Tram #Dublin #Ireland #ExploreIreland
PLEASE LIKE THIS VIDEO AND SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL

LUAS (pronounced [ˈl̪ˠuəsˠ]; Irish for speed) is a tram/light rail system in Dublin, Ireland. There are two main lines: the Green Line, which began operating on 30 June 2004, and the Red Line which opened on 26 September 2004. Since then, both lines have been extended and split into different branches further out of the city. The two lines, as of 2017, now intersect and connect within Dublin city centre. The system now has 67 stations and 42.5 kilometres (26.4 mi) of revenue track, which in 2018 carried 41.8 million passengers, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2017.

LUAS is operated by Transdev, under tender from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

LAUNCH
The original launch date for LUAS was to be 2003, but delays in construction saw this date pushed back by a year. An advertising campaign took place to inform the public of the development of the system, while construction was taking place. Construction finished in February 2004 and a period of testing and driver training began. 30 June 2004 was decided on as the official launch date of the Green Line. The first tram went into service for the general public at 3 p.m. Several days of free travel and a family fun weekend took place to launch the system. The Red Line opened on 26 September 2004, with six days of free travel for the general public.

ON-BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS
Since 2010 all on-board LUAS announcements are in both Irish and English

Dublin Bay, Ireland | Photographer's #VLOG

'In pursuit of an image' on Bull Island, in Dublin Bay, Ireland. A peaceful, breathtaking place away from the maddening crowds of the capital's centre. A wonderful retreat to walk down the strand while the winds and the tides rule the air. The sounds of the rushes on the sand dunes dampen the lingering city of Dublin. Bull Island is a haven that is found on the Clontarf road. A stretch of strand that is long in each direction and wide to clear the mind of trouble. I find myself here along with images to explain its clarity that it offers to anyone who walks its lengths. The short video hopefully illustrates it's beauty and encourages the viewer to escape the city and find nature in the landscape.

Facts
Ireland is known for its wide expanses of lush, green fields. In fact, its nickname is the Emerald Isle.
But there are also large areas of rugged, rocky landscape. About 15,000 years ago,
Ireland was completely covered by thick glaciers.
The movement of these giant sheets of ice stripped the soil,
leaving huge tracts of flat, limestone pavement.

PEOPLE & CULTURE
Ireland is a nation of storytellers.
The tradition dates back to Celtic bards,
who would record and recite the country's history.
Many famed writers come from Ireland, including four winners of the Nobel Prize for literature.
The Irish also excel in music and sports.

NATURE
The Irish have a great affection for nature and rural life.
The country's first coins even featured pictures of animals.
Low levels of development and pollution in Ireland have left most of the nation's open spaces relatively undisturbed.
Did you know that there are no wild snakes in Ireland?
The sea has stopped many animals common on mainland Europe from reaching the island.
There are also only two wild mouse species, one type of lizard, and just three kinds of amphibians.
Irish wildlife is protected by government conservation programs.
To preserve natural habitat,
the government has established six national parks and hundreds of national heritage areas throughout the country.
