This is is the 2nd largest waterfall east of the Mississippi and a fun place to visit any time of year, month, day. It's so impressive! The only problem is the area the park is located in. Not the most scenic. However, try to ignore the garbage and concentrate on the power of the water.

HIKING 2021 TO BOONTON* FALLS NEW JERSEY USA
Boonton became a separate municipality, and was incorporated as a Town under a charter granted by the State Legislature in March, 1867. The area within the limits of the new Town was formerly part of the old Townships of Pequannock and Hanover. Under the charter, the new Town was governed by a seven-man Board of Trustees, but, by an amendment to the charter in 1872, authority was vested in the Mayor and Common Council, now known as the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Boonton's charter of 1867 was a milestone in the long history of the Town. More than a century earlier the village of Boonetown (Booneton, Boonton) was established on the Rockaway River, about a mile and a half downstream from the center of the present Town. As early as 1747, Obadiah Baldwin operated an iron refining forge at that place, where water power was in ample supply, and raw materials, such as iron ore and wood for charcoal, were not too far away. Under David Ogden, the owner of the site and a large tract of surrounding land, and, later, under his son, Samuel, the ironworks was enlarged, and a village of workmen and their families emerged. This village was named by the Ogdens Boone-Towne in honor of the Colonial Governor, Thomas Boone, in the year 1761.

Hiking Boonton Falls and Exploring Grace Lord Park in Autumn. #Booton #waterfalls #hiking
#Grace Lord Park in #Boonton, NJ is a hidden gem with a beautiful waterfall that's perfect for a day hike. In this video, we'll take you on a hike to the falls and show you all the best views.
The hike is easy and only about 0.5 miles long, but it's still a lot of fun. You'll walk through a lush forest and along the Rockaway River before you reach the falls. The falls are about 30 feet high and are especially beautiful in the spring when the water flow is at its peak.
There are a few different ways to get to the falls. You can park at the Makey Funeral Home just before the Rockaway River bridge on West Main Street and enter the park there. Or, you can park on Main Street and walk to the park entrance.
Once you're in the park, follow the Boonton Falls Trail. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. You'll pass a dam and a playground before you reach the falls.
When you reach the falls, you can take in the views from the top or climb down to the bottom for a closer look. Be careful, though, the rocks can be slippery.
After you're done exploring the falls, you can hike back to the trailhead or continue on to explore the rest of the park. Grace Lord Park also has a playground, a gazebo, and a walking trail along the river.

RINGWOOD STATE PARK( You pay for entree's fee once then you don't have to pay again for moving to the Ringwood Manor Area)
You pay only one time to get inside and you can go everywhere in the park.
(BOTH OFTHESE AREA HAS A LOT OF PICNIC TABLES WITH BARBEQUE GRILL)
*SHEPHERD LAKE
It's picnic area. Every picnic table has a barbeque grill so you can BBQ here and tenting is available as well. You park at Shepherd lake recreation area. If you come earlier, you can picnic under the trees otherwise I recommended bring Beach umbrella with you and sit more closer to the lake. It is more peaceful and has nicer view. They allowed swimming as well(Swimming closed for the 2021 season though)so bring swimsuits.
Tips: Things to do are here swimming, fishing, kayaking, Canoeing and boating. They offer boat launch for visitors wishing to bring their own boat( Canoe, Kayak, Stand up paddleboat).Only electric motors are permitted on the lake. Boat rentals are available during the summer.
*RINGWOOD MANOR( less 10minutes drive from lake)
This is another picnic area with shade. Yon don't have to worry about sun light. You feel so cool because a lot of tree and near the stream. If you want to beat the heat, come here and enjoy.
We didn't hike because none of my family like it. Maybe they are bigger we will try it.
PARKING LOT A : For HIKING and BIKING, From Lot A on the white trail connected to the red trail and went past the lake and then kept following the red trail to the green trail and back to the white which drop you near Lot A.
PARKING LOT B : It's right next to the stream. All picnic area has shades so you don't have to worry about for hot weather.IT IS CHILLY HERE. You can tenting here too.
Tips: Don't wear the flip flop or don't walking with holding babies in the water. It is very slippery with rocks and will fall down easily. you should wear water shoes or crocs. It's fun to catch crawfish, better If you have a net.
PARKING LOT C : Horseback Riding is available from the main lot at Shepherd lake, With trail access from behind the boathouse or from parking lot C in the Skyland's section.
