The 10 best things to do in Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville and Springdale,
AKA, northwest ARkansas

#1 Crystal Bridges
Even if you're not a museum go-er, it's still a must stop.
one because it's free, two because it has some very amazing and expensive
pieces in it ($35 million dollar painting) Like most things in this area,
it's tied to the Walmart Family. Also, Norman Rockwell’s Rosie the Riveter.

Thing #1.5 to see the grounds directly around it, all 120 acres
which are filled with art pieces and trails galore.

Also, things #2 to see since you're right here is the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman-Wilson House.

#3, let's get this one over with, you all know Walmart is not only
10 min. down the road from wherever you're watching this from,
but hey, jokes aside, learning about Walmart was very interesting
and I'd go again.. I'd go again because It was closed! Renovations until 2024. The museum itself which
was quite a walk away on a windy non-summer day (that means it was cold)
Anyway, from the pictures i saw it looked really cool and I'd go back,
however, what we saw was still worth the stop. The museum was interesting with old uniforms to an interactive world map and even Sam Walton himself.. well.. mostly. But it was words he actually said and it was fun.

#3.5 is to get ice cream at the food truck in front, called The Spark. And then explore the Bentonville Downtown Square. I usually get plain chocolate. I felt brave and tried the f150 because of Sam Walton's truck usually parked in front. I do regret it, I didn't like it, it was like liquid red velvet cake. My mom who went with me got the strawberry and she really liked hers.
Ok 4 on this list is the Pineapple Hills Lemonade... just kidding,
that's what it's called when you drive by too fast, it's the Pinnacle Hills Promindae
in Rogers. It's shopping galore on 152 acres in this open air mall, over 100 retailers.

#5 takes us out of the city and into the wilderness of Hobbs State park. there's plenty of outdoor activities you can find here in Arkansas's largest state park at over 12 thousand acres with 54 miles of trails, campsites, and, the only park in Arkansas that allows regulated hunting but in this video, I'm going to focus on the War Eagle Mill. It's not only a pretty mill with a cafe, cute gift shop, and a craft show in October.
Lets move to #6, Ozark botanical gardens.
And lets take #7 back up and around and through the woods to grandmas house we go... no.. but it is 40 miles of fun, the Razorback greenway! Take a bike ride through Fayetteville, Johnson, Springdale, Lowell, Rogers, Bentonville, and Bella Vista. there's many stops along the way and there are many shops to rent one.

#8, what this area is also known for other than Walmart, mountain biking. More than 250 miles of top-tier mountain bike trails, offering cyclists one of the best singletrack experiences in the nation.
With the rugged terrain of the Ozarks, and one of the most progressive cycling cultures in the country, Northwest Arkansas has invested in an impressive infrastructure. Trails include downhill runs with shuttles, a best-in-class jump park, pump tracks and skills courses. The area has earned a reputation as one of the top off-road cycling destinations.
Number 9 is that Daisy also got their start here. It was closed yet again on the day we went, which means check the hours before you head there. but it looks like a really cool museum
#10 on the list is 8th street market.

Thanks for watching! Safe Travels & Subscribe!

Boonville, MO | A 4K City Walking Tour

Boonville, MO is a great place to wander around. A Missouri river city full of charm and beauty, it is home to beautiful parks and well-preserved historic landmarks. In the early 1800’s Daniel Boone’s sons, Nathan and Daniel Morgan, came upon the salt lick in present-day Howard County, just across the river from today’s Boonville. Recognizing the value of salt for pioneers, the Boone brothers settled and opened shop, thus the original Boone’s Lick or Boonslick name. In 1810 widow Hannah Cole and her nine children homesteaded the Boonslick area. The town was formally platted in 1817 and prospered in the late 1820’s. Throughout the 1820’s and 30’s the town was home to river trade and a jumping-off point for the Santa Fe Trail. On February 10, 1839, the city was officially incorporated.

South Broadway Avenue, Booneville, Arkansas with DJI Mavic Mini Drone - Main Street

Booneville is a city in Logan County, Arkansas, United States and the county seat of the southern district. Located in the Arkansas River Valley between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains, the city is one of the oldest in western Arkansas. The city's economy was first based upon the railroad and Arkansas State Tuberculosis Sanatorium, but has evolved into a diverse economy of small businesses and light industry as the early drivers have disappeared. Booneville's population was 3,990 at the 2010 census.

Booneville supports a community center, a senior citizens center, a community hospital, a municipal airport and new school facilities. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and other outdoors activities are readily available in nearby national forests and state parks.

The city was founded in 1828 when Walter Cauthron, an early explorer of the Arkansas Territory, built a log cabin and store along the Petit Jean River. Intending to name the community Bonneville for friend Benjamin Bonneville, the name was later changed. Another theory is that the name was to honor Daniel Boone, a friend of the Logan family for which the county is named.

The Arkansas State Tuberculosis Sanatorium was established in 1909 about three miles (5 km) south of Booneville. Once fully established, the sanatorium was the relocation center for all Arkansans with tuberculosis. By the time the facility was closed in 1973, it had treated over 70,000 patients. The main hospital, named the Nyberg Building after Leo E. Nyberg, a former sanatorium patient and state legislator who sponsored the bill funding the construction, was completed in 1941. The facility became known worldwide as one of the most successful and modern hospitals for the treatment of tuberculosis of its day.

The sanatorium complex was self-sustaining, with dormitories, staff entertainment buildings, a chapel, laundry, dairy, water treatment plant, independent telephone system, and even a fire department. At the height of its use, the complex employed nearly 300 staff members. At one point, the total population of the center was greater than that of Booneville, in the valley below.

With the introduction of more effective drug therapy, the patient population began to decline. Eventually the sanatorium was closed in 1973. The campus is currently used as the Booneville Human Development Center, a state-run residential program for adults with mild and moderate intellectual disability and other developmental disabilities.

On March 23, 2008, Easter Sunday, a series of explosions destroyed the Cargill Meat Solutions plant, which employed approximately 800 people, making it by far the town's largest employer. Cargill exploded when 88,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia and 100,000 pounds of carbon dioxide were ignited by sparks from a welder, causing the evacuation of at least 1,000 of Booneville's roughly 4,000 residents, and leaving nearly 800 people without a job. Because of this tragic event, the town's population drastically dropped in size and went into what many people began calling the small-town recession. On May 2, 2008, Cargill announced that the plant would not be rebuilt.

From its early days, Booneville has supported education. In 1874, as a response to needs for higher learning in western Arkansas, the Fort Smith District of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, authorized the establishment of the Fort Smith District High School in Booneville, forty miles to the west. Local church members donated the land, building materials and labor. The school, located on South College Street, was to be supported by student tuition fees. Students came from towns all over western Arkansas to board with Booneville families and attend a school that offered an advanced curriculum, including Latin, German, advanced mathematics, literature and music. The school functioned until the early 1900s.

After the school closed, a group of residents and business leaders formed the Booneville Education Association and acquired 9 acres (36,000 m2) of land in the northwest part of town. The new school was called the Booneville Co-Educational Institute and also offered a more advanced curriculum than the public school around. Graduates were admitted as sophomores at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In 1920, state funds were made available for the support of public high schools and the school's property was transferred to the Booneville School District. The building continued to be used as the city's high school until a new building was built in 1929. The old Co-Educational Institute building was used as the Booneville elementary school for several decades after that.

Poverty in Arkansas.

10 Arkansas small towns with the worst poverty.
10 Poorest towns in Arkansas.

Today we are going to take a look at Arkansas and the mess that it is.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the national poverty rate was 11.8% percent or 38.1 million Americans in 2018. These states have the highest percentages of poverty in the country: Mississippi, New Mexico, Louisiana, West Virginia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, District of Colombia, Oklahoma, South Carolina and the territory of Puerto Rico.

So why are we starting with Arkansas? Last month I got an email from a guy named Glen in Little Rock who said
I best not put Arkansas in my mouth again. He said he’d find me and pull me out of my electric car and crush my head.
I replied: Dude how did you watch my video, you are using AOL dial-up service.
He replied. What’s wrong with that.
I replied “Nothing if it were 1997.
He never replied again. So, in Glen's honor, I am putting Arkansas back in my mouth and we are going to look at the poorest towns in Arkansas.
Thanks for checking out the channel. I hope you enjoyed today's video. If there is a state, city or town you'd like us to do a video about let us know in the comment section.

Katy Trail Day Three Boonville to Rocheport (April 10, 2021) Wet and Wild

After 2-3 years of talking about riding the Katy Trail, we looked at the long-range forecast and decided that sunny weather in the 60's and 70's looked like a good window of opportunity. Accommodations were booked, bikes readied, gear packed, and we headed to Clinton Missouri to start our ride over a planned 6 days with a rest day. The weather shifted slightly on us and we had 2 days of rain, one light, and one heavy. This made us shift our ride a bit and we ended up riding the trail from Clinton to St Charles in 7 days. Glad we did it the week we did as a week later they are experiencing snow in Missouri!

Our third day of riding was from Boonville to Rocheport (18 miles). We had planned to ride 58 miles from Boonville to Jefferson City but the forecast was for steady rain starting the evening of April 9 and going through the evening of April 10. We knew that would be a slog, but we did not want to spend another night at our hotel location in Boonville. Looking on the Internet, we were able to get a room at the Katy Trail B&B (highly recommended), shift our Jefferson City hotel to the following night, and trim our Herman stay to one night. Our ride was through very steady rain and westerly winds and had an on-road detour that was famous for being nerve-wracking. The detour lived up to its reputation and we had a truck try and hit us (there was no other traffic on the road at the time and he came within inches of hitting Julie's pannier before speeding off). Very happy we cut the ride short as we were pretty emotionally spent after that, not to mention wet dogs when we rolled into our B&B. Also, Rocheport is a great little town and we would have been able to enjoy the beautiful scenery between Rocheport and Jefferson City.

We start the video in downtown Greenwood, just east of the the town square. Turning onto Arkansas Highway 10 from a service station, we cross Heartsill Creek to travel southeast, passing the intersection with AR-96 before leaving Greenwood proper. 3 miles or so later, we turn south as we descend in elevation and turn roughly east to head into the Washburn area where we pass the northern terminus of AR-252.

Leaving the Washburn area, Highway 10 turns southeast once again before intersecting with one of the several disjointed segments of Arkansas Highway 60 west of Booneville where we turn east again to enter Booneville. We end the video turning into a service station just east of the local Hospital.

Arkansas Highway 10 - Booneville to Danville | Drive America's Highways ????

???? Drive America's Highways for 33 miles east along Arkansas Highway 10 from Booneville to Danville.????

We start the video turning onto Arkansas Highway 10 from a service stop in western Booneville. Driving east through Booneville, we pass the intersection with Arkansas Highway 23 and the central business district. Continuing east, we pass by 'fast food row' and a few local intersections before leaving town just past the Walmart.

Now out of Booneville, we drive generally eastbound passing the Booneville Airport before reaching the small town of Magazine, where we cross Arkansas Highway 109. Passing quickly though Magazine, we continue eastbound nestled in a valley with views of Mount Magazine to our left for much of this segment. Driving past the intersection with AR-309 south in Waveland, we continue east to Havanah where we cross AR-309 north to Mount Magazine State Park.

Five miles later, we enter Belleville -- a suburb of Danville, where we cross the intersection with Arkansas Highway 307. Now driving generally southeast, we pass through Corinth before entering Danville at the intersection with Arkansas Highway 27 north where we turn south to drive through downtown Danville. We end the video turning east onto AR-10 just south of the Petit Jean River at the intersection with AR-27 south.

See this route westbound (to Havana):
