Крепость Колагири - Крепость и монастырь королевы - феодальный век (конец XVIII века) в Восточной Грузии, в селе Болниси, современный муниципалитет Колагири. Находится на реке с левой стороны от Альгети. Место открытое, одинаково доступно со всех сторон.
Колагири является одной из последних крепостей, построенных в Квемо Картли и Кахетии. Крепость была построена в 1788-1798 годах Королевой Дареджаной. В 1801 Дареджана сама написала «Я построила большой замок и забор в Колагири». Сохранился проект, согласно которому был построен этот замок. План этой крепости квадратный, площадь около 2000 кв. м. Постройка выполнена из необработанного камня. Кирпич используется для отделки и декоративной обработки входных башен. Стена высотой 6 м ниже и толще. Боевой ход окружает весь замок на втором этаже башен. По углам крепости расположены цилиндрические башни с прямоугольными башнями в центре восточной и западной стен. Одна из стен имеет главный вход. Угловые цилиндрические башни - это уникальное решение. Три этажа предназначены для боя. Из других построек внутри крепости - только одна маленькая церковь. Замок крепость Колагири имеет два входа. Крепость должна была стоять на страже некоторое время. С начала 19 века она утратила свою функцию так же как и другие крепости Грузии. Сейчас в наше время это одна из красивых достопримечательностей Грузии куда обязательно стоит съездить и посетить этот средневековый монастырь.

The highlight of any visit to Tbilisi is a stroll through the Old Town. Ancient churches, monuments, and buildings are set against a dramatic hillside. You can climb to the top or zip up via a modern cable car. And if your bones ache from all that walking, you can literally soak in the city at the thermal springs located right in the middle of Tbilisi’s Old Town.
Cross a bridge and on the other side of the Kura river you’ll find incredible modern architecture, which makes for an interesting juxtaposition against Old Town.
Georgian wine is quickly becoming renowned as some of the highest quality vino in all of Europe. And with good reason: the temperate environmental conditions in Georgia’s province of Khatkhati, combined with centuries of experience by the local vintners, make for seriously delicious stuff.
You can taste Georgian wine just about anywhere (many locals even make their own at home), but serious oenophiles won’t want to miss a tour of the many vineyards in Khatkhati.
Technically two castles joined by a wall, the Ananuri complex is an impressive work of ancient architecture made all the more fascinating by its stunning setting against the backdrop of the Aragvi river.
While it is possible to visit the church as part of day trip from Tbilisi, an even better thing to do in Georgia is to spend a night in the nearby town of Stepantsminda, then wake up early for a steep climb that will reward you with peaceful time at the iconic church before the tour buses roll in.

Jvari Monastery Georgian is a sixth-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta, eastern Georgia. Along with other historic structures of Mtskheta, it is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Jvari is a rare case of the Early Medieval Georgian church that survived to the present day almost unchanged. The church became the founder of its type, the Jvari type of church architecture, prevalent in Georgia and Armenia. Built atop of Jvari Mount (656 m a.s.l.), the monastery is an example of harmonious connection with the natural environment, characteristic to Georgian architecture.
Jvari Monastery stands on the rocky mountaintop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta, which was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Iberia.
According to traditional accounts, on this location in the early 4th century Saint Nino, a female evangelist credited with converting King Mirian III of Iberia to Christianity, erected a large wooden (or vine) cross on the site of a pagan temple. The cross was reportedly able to work miracles and therefore drew pilgrims from all over the Caucasus. A small church was erected over the remnants of the wooden cross in c.545 during the rule of Guaram I, and named the Small Church of Jvari, which can still be seen adjacent to the main church from the north.
The small church did not satisfy the needs of popular piligrimage site, and the present building, or Great Church of Jvari, is generally held to have been built between 590 and 605 by Guaram's son Erismtavari Stepanoz I. This is based on the Jvari inscriptions on its facade which mentions the principal builders of the church: Stephanos the patricius, Demetrius the hypatos, and Adarnase the hypatos. Professor Cyril Toumanoff disagrees with this view, identifying these individuals as Stepanoz II, Demetre (brother of Stepanoz I), and Adarnase II (son of Stepanoz II), respectively.[1] Nino's cross remained inside of the church, and its original postament can still be found here.
In the 10th century the was burned by Arabs, but it managed to survive with only minor repairments.
The importance of Jvari complex increased over time and attracted many pilgrims. In the late Middle Ages, the complex was fortified by a stone wall and gate, remnants of which still survive. During the Soviet period, the church was preserved as a national monument, but access was rendered difficult by tight security at a nearby military base. After the independence of Georgia, the building was restored to active religious use. Jvari was listed together with other monuments of Mtskheta in 1994 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
