Although it’s sometimes overlooked in favor of neighboring Montana and Oregon, Hemingway’s favorite state is home to a serious amount of beauty. In fact, it’s probably up there as being one of the USA’s most underrated destinations. The scenery here is mostly made up of wilderness but with a network of truly stunning razor-edged peaks, gushing rivers, dramatic gorges, deep valleys, wonderful waterfalls, and welcoming small towns punctuating the unspoiled landscape. It’s hard to know where to start in such a list but I’ve tried my best and here is my choice for the best and most beautiful places to visit in Idaho.

Boise, Idaho, Family Travel Guide: Top 10 Things To Do (Approved by Everett)

Our family trip to Boise, Idaho, started off with the Giraffe Encounter at the Boise Zoo, where Everett got to share lettuce and giggles with the giraffes. We also interacted with the goats and enjoyed the carousel and playgrounds.

Next, we got to visit a hands-on museum, the Discovery Center of Idaho, where Everett was mesmerized by giant bubbles, a funny house mirror, and lots of experiments.

The rest of the trip included a visit at the World Center for Birds of Prey, where you can have one-of-a-kind interactions with hawks, eagles, falcons, and vultures, a biking tour, and eating at some of the best places in Boise.

Check out our family adventure here. We’re already planning the next one back.
