I think it is time to tackle a list I hinted at earlier this year and never got to. When I listed the worst towns in America I said I had to cut Southern California out because it had like 17 of the worst 20. When you suck that bad, you get your own list is the rule here.
A couple of things with this list. I say town but technically some are small cities. I am just cutting out the major cities like Los Angeles and San Diego proper. If I say cities in the title I will have a bunch of geography nerds jumping up my butt. I don’t like anything jumping up my butt especially geography nerds. Most of these are in the LA metro or LA county.
This is another list that has enough to make 3 videos, but we’ll start with one and see how it goes.
These are not places you want to buy real estate.

Blythe Intaglios Mystery | California
Blythe Intaglios mystery, Blythe intaglios the ancient mystery in California. The carvings near Blythe, California, are known as the Blythe Intaglios, while in Peru the ancient geoglyphs there are called the Nazca Lines. Many people have referred to these massive artworks as drawings, but they are actually carved into the rocks. The outer layers were painstakingly scraped off to reveal the lighter stone color underneath. All this was done so that someone from overhead would see the shapes of people, animals, and other representations. There is a gathering of these carvings in the Colorado Desert, a part of the Sonoran Desert, of where the largest of the carvings representing humans measures 171 feet, which is wider than a football field.
It is now believed that the stone carvings in the U.S. were probably made between 450 and 2,500 years ago.
While there have been theories about the carvings having been drawn so that aliens could see them overhead, it’s possible that the geoglyphs were made with the intention that the gods would see them and come to the aid of humans.

Blythe California Road Trip on the Colorado River
Blythe is a city in eastern Riverside County, California, United States. It is in the Palo Verde Valley of the Lower Colorado River Valley region, an agricultural area and part of the Colorado Desert along the Colorado River, approximately 224 miles east of Los Angeles and 150 miles west of Phoenix.
Blythe was named after Thomas Henry Blythe, a San Francisco businessman and entrepreneur. He established primary water rights to the Colorado River in the southwestern California region in 1877. The town was originally named Blythe City, by Thomas Blythe himself, but the name was shortened to simply Blythe around the time the first post office was opened in 1908.

Exploring the Blythe Intaglios off US Route 95
The Blythe Intaglios are large geoglyphs located about 16 miles north of Blythe, CA, off US Route 95 near the Colorado River. It is unknown why they were created or who created them, but radio carbon dating puts their creation at sometime between 900 BCE and 1200 AD. At the Blythe Intaglios, three sets of geoglyphs are easily accessible, two by car and a third via short hike. While the intaglios are amazing from the ground, if you have a drone, seeing them from the sky is even better, as you can truly grasp how large they are.

Blythe Intaglios - amazing giant desert geoglyphs!
Near the Arizona-California border are some of the most unique native american sites in North America. These formations were carved into the Colorado Desert hardpan at a point over five hundred years ago, and maybe over fifteen hundred years ago. With a series of distinct locations, these geoglyphs are amazing carvings that in one case, is over one hundred and seventy feet long. While the exact reasons for these geoglyphs are not fully known, they are spectacular depictions of men, perhaps gods, and animals or creatures; and are amazing surviving works of Native American culture and art. If one has a drone, one can obtain great and amazing photos and video of the site from the air, which is perhaps almost more impressive then a ground level view.
