St. Maarten Vacation Guide: Sun, Sea, and Spectacular Sights

St. Maarten, also known as St. Martin, is a small island located in the Caribbean Sea. It is divided between two countries: the southern part belongs to the Kingdom of the Netherlands (St. Maarten), while the northern part is an overseas collectivity of France (St. Martin). The island is known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and unique blend of Dutch and French culture.

Here are some key points about St. Maarten:

Geography: St. Maarten/St. Martin is part of the Leeward Islands in the northeastern Caribbean. It is situated approximately 300 kilometers (190 miles) east of Puerto Rico.

Language: The official languages are Dutch on the Dutch side and French on the French side. However, English is widely spoken throughout the island, especially in tourist areas.

Capital: Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side (St. Maarten), while Marigot is the capital of the French side (St. Martin).

Tourism: St. Maarten is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a wide range of water sports activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing. Maho Beach, located near the Princess Juliana International Airport, is particularly famous for its close proximity to the runway, allowing visitors to experience low-flying planes.

Cultural Influence: The island's dual nationality has resulted in a unique blend of Dutch and French cultures. This is evident in the architecture, cuisine, and general way of life. Visitors can explore both sides of the island and experience the distinct atmospheres and flavors each has to offer.

Duty-Free Shopping: St. Maarten is known for its duty-free shopping, offering a wide range of products such as jewelry, electronics, clothing, and more. Popular shopping areas include Front Street in Philipsburg and the West Indies Mall in Marigot.

Island Hopping: St. Maarten serves as a convenient hub for exploring other nearby Caribbean islands. Day trips or short excursions to neighboring islands such as Anguilla, St. Barthélemy (St. Barts), and Saba are popular among visitors.

Hurricane Impact: St. Maarten has experienced the impact of hurricanes in the past, with Hurricane Irma causing significant damage to the island in September 2017. However, extensive efforts have been made to rebuild and restore the tourism infrastructure.

Philipsburg St. Maarten Cruise Port & City Tour ????️

In today's video, I am going to give you a tour of Philipsburg St. Maarten cruise port and city. This Philpsburg cruise port and city tour can be used as a guide for what to do at the cruise port and things to do in walking distance of the cruise port in St. Maarten.

I haven't done to many port tours because usually it's my first time there and it's hard to make a cruise port video and city tour while I'm still discovering the place myself. However, I think I came up with a cruise port tour format that not only gives you useful information but allows me to explore and learn more about the area without having to worry about shooting a video explaining where I am in the moment.

Let me know how you like it!

Saint Martin (French: Saint-Martin; Dutch: Sint Maarten) is an island in the northeast Caribbean Sea, approximately 300 km (190 mi) east of Puerto Rico. The 87 square kilometres (34 sq mi) island is divided roughly 60:40 between the French Republic (53 square kilometres (20 sq mi)) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (34 square kilometres (13 sq mi)), but the Dutch part is more populated than the French part. The division dates to 1648. The northern French part comprises the Collectivity of Saint Martin and is an overseas collectivity of the French Republic. As part of France, the French part of the island is also part of the European Union. The southern Dutch part comprises Sint Maarten and is one of four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The Netherlands Antilles was a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The country consisted of several island territories located in the Caribbean Sea. The islands were also informally known as the Dutch Antilles.

Tour Of St. Martin (St. Maarten) / Exploring The Island On Your Own

We recently took a trip to St. Martin it was one of the stops on our Princess Cruise. This country is known for its beautiful unique beaches and has some great shopping areas. St. Martin or St. Maarten, is divided in half with one side being the Dutch side and the other side being the French side. If your cruise port is in Philipsburg, it is located on the Dutch side. We rented a Jeep for the day and toured both sides of the island. We want to give you a look at both St. Martin and St. Maarten to show you what there is to do here, some of our recommendations, and the overall vibe of the island and residents. If you are planning a trip to Saint Martin, or Sint Maarten, then you need to watch this video. There are things you definitely don't want to miss out on and we have a few to show you.

Anguilla - Exploring the West End Cliffs (Stunning)

30 Minutes Relaxing on The Beach: Shoal Bay, Anguilla

Relaxing on the beach at Shoal Bay East? Yes please!

This video brings 30 minutes of relaxing beach sounds and soothing scenes from one of Anguilla's most famous beaches, Shoal Bay East.

Shoal Bay East is one of the top beaches in the Caribbean. It is protected by a large set of offshore reefs that create a calm, turquoise bay. The waters are some of the bluest you will ever see. That pure azure hue is beautifully complimented, of course, by Shoal Bay's powdery white sand.

It is a top choice for a laidback lunch on the beach, since it is home to many tasty beach bars including Madeariman, Tropical Sunset and Elodia's. The beach is also home to the five-star resort Zemi Beach House and hotels Manoah, Shoal Bay Villas.

A large stretch of sand - at Shoal Bay East there is somewhere for everyone to unplug and simply relax.

Grab your headphones and prepare for 30 minutes of relaxing on the beach, Shoal Bay-style!

A Special Sandy Ground Sunset

Time for Happy Hour at Elvis' Beach Bar ????????????

Set in the village of Sandy Ground, Elvis' Beach Bar is a must for the most magical time of day.

Grab a classic rum punch, order a heaping plate of nachos (the best on-island!) and prepare for a magical myriad of sights and sounds...

Sandy Ground is Anguilla's main port and fishing village. This time of day, families are returning home, boats are settling into their slips for the night and patrons are placing their dinner orders at the beach bars and restaurants that line the strip of sand.

All illuminated by a perfect view of the setting sun, there are no two waves about it...

Sandy Ground is one of Anguilla's most magical spots to catch the sunset ????????????
