Amazing Places In Germany for your Bucketlist|Blautopf, Blaubeuren
We wanted to go to Rothenburg Ob der Tauber but the travel time of 3 hours from Munich by train was not feasible. Blautopf and Blaubeuren were suggested by chance, and I'm glad we decided to go. This is a travel guide around magical places in Germany. We enjoyed it more as both towns were not swarmed with tourists. It was an hour and a half by train to Ulm and another 20 minutes from Ulm to Blautopf. Germany offered a 9Euro ticket of travel anywhere for a month which was handy.

The hydropower harnessed from the Aach and Blau rivers fueled seven mills, providing sustenance and employment to many.
Strategically situated on the main route connecting Augsburg and Strasbourg via Tübingen, Blaubeuren flourished as a place worth living. Its golden era extended well beyond the late Middle Ages, even after the monastery ceased to be a religious seat. Trade thrived, and its political significance soared, making Blaubeuren the official city in the Kingdom of Württemberg. Today, Blaubeuren retains its unique charm as a tranquil yet vibrant small town.
Our journey continues with a visit to the Urgeschichtliches Museum, the central museum for prehistoric finds in the region. Explore the lives of Neanderthals and early modern humans during the last ice age and discover the remarkable artifacts from 40,000 years ago. Behold the Venus vom Hohle Fels, the oldest known figurative work of art, and the world's oldest musical instruments, carved from bird wing bones and mammoth ivory. Unearth the enigmatic Lion People, intriguing human-lion hybrids, all discovered in the nearby caves.
Step back in time at the Badhaus der Mönche, the only surviving monastic bath in a German monastery complex. This medieval bathhouse served as a wellness spa, where hot water was prepared and poured into large wooden vats, a tradition still visible today.
As we delve further into history, we explore the Blaubeuren Abbey, which stood from 1000 to 1700, and its significance in the region. Near the town, three caves hold archaeological treasures from the central European Upper Paleolithic Era.
Geißenklösterle (Goat Monastery) reveals early prehistoric art dating back 43,000 to 30,000 years ago.
Sirgenstein Cave offers a glimpse into Neanderthal life with fireplaces and charred bones from 50,000 to 35,000 years ago.

WIE VIEL SCHWÄBISCHE ALB SCHAFFT MAN AN EINEM TAG. Das Abenteuer beginnt im Schiesszentrum Ulm. Danach geht es zum Blautopf in Blaubeuren. Die Burg Lichtenstein ist wirklich ein kleines Märchenschloss das ich dann auf dem Weg zum Schönbergturm hinter mir lassen muß. Gerade noch Schaffe ich es auf den imposanten Wackerstein um den Sonnenuntergang zu genießen.

We made a one day trip from Frankfurt am Main to Blautopf. This is one of the very rare karst springs available for public viewing. The 2-hour drive was well worth it. It is also near to the city of Ulm. On the way, we stopped at a South Indian restaurant in Esslingen called 'Copperbowl'. Another variation to Saravana Bhavan in Frankfurt.
