Mike Dunn, the Director of Historic Blakeley State Park tells us their Delta Explorer cruise boat provides amazing views of the delta, and passengers also learn about its history and importance for this region. In our video interview, Dunn introduces us to some of the learning and recreational amenities of Blakeley State Park.

“This month is a wonderful time to explore the park and take in some of the recent improvements which have made it easier than ever to explore its remarkable natural and cultural heritage. The park has over 25 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, and a variety of audio and printed self-guided touring options to help guests discover its amazing history and unparalleled ecological setting.
On March 19 and 20 the park offers three special cruises from Five Rivers Delta Resource Center providing unique views of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, one of Alabama’s most celebrated natural wonders. Choose from taking in a sunset on Mobile Bay or navigating the remote waterways between the Eastern Shore and Mobile. Then on March 27 the park welcomes guests for a spring “lunch cruise,” in which we journey through the scenic Delta waters and make a stop at the Bluegill restaurant on the causeway to enjoy some of their famous dishes. The park is home to Alabama’s largest Civil War and battlefield and is the Delta’s longest- running tour operator. Its Delta Explorer is U.S. Coast Guard-licensed covered boat features bench seating and a restroom facility and is handicapped accessible.
