VISITE DE LA VILLE DE MANDAWA - RAJASTHAN - INDE

La ville de Mandawa, véritable musée à ciel ouvert, est située sur le passage de la célèbre route de la soie. Elle a été fondée au milieu du 18ième siècle.
A l'époque, les marchands avaient l'habitude de décorer richement leurs demeures avec des fresques et des peintures murales sur des thèmes religieux et historiques.
Ce qui laisse aujourd'hui place à de somptueuses demeures que l'on appelle Havelis. Nous en avons visité quelques-unes dont les Havelis Binsidhar Newatia et Gulab Rai Ladia.
Elles sont majoritairement constituées d'une cour intérieure entourée de plusieurs pièces et elles possèdent de nombreuses fenêtres qui sont ornées par des moucharabiehs.
Les moucharabiehs sont en fait des grillages qui facilitent non seulement la ventilation, mais qui permettent également de regarder à l'extérieur sans être vu.
Ces demeures ont été abandonnées peu à peu par leurs propriétaires et n'ont pas été rénovées.
Elles ont malheureusement subi les ravages du temps. Cependant, leur beauté résiste aux intempéries et il est toujours possible d'y admirer de nombreuses et magnifiques fresques.

Chokhani Double Haveli Mandawa
The city of Mandawa in Rajasthan was founded in the mid 18th century; at one point of time this town was mostly inhabited by the rich merchant families who constructed massive havelis, adorned with beautiful wall paintings on the interiors as well as the exteriors as their residence. However, with the passage of time, many of these merchants moved on and migrated to other states, leaving behind the beautiful havelis to bear the brunt of time and soullessness. However, the magnificence of these havelis was not a thing to be pushed to oblivion and so they soon came up as the major tourist attraction of the area. The Chokhani Double Haveli Mandawa is one of the best havelis in Rajasthan.
History :
The Chokhani Double Haveli In Mandawa In India was built in the late 19th century. The Chokhanis were prosperous merchants of Mandawa and built the haveli as their residence.
Description :
The beautiful frescos and wall paintings that decorate the havelis of Mandawa have captured in them the changing traditions of art, economy and politics. In the earlier days, mythology dominated the themes of the frescoes of the havelis displaying for the most part, local legends, animals, portraits, hunting, battle and wrestling scenes, etc. 19th century saw the themes being changed to reflect the British (Raj) colonial influence on the Indian culture and economy. The traditional subjects gave way to pictures of locomotives, cars, men clad in western outfits, balloons, and so on.
The Chokhani Double Haveli In Mandawa Rajasthan has some of the best frescos in the Mandawa city. The predominant colors that rule the show are golden, yellow, blue, maroon, green, etc.
Like all havelis, the Chokhani Double Haveli Mandawa In Rajasthan opens into a courtyard surrounded by verandahs that lead a bigger courtyard. This courtyard served as the inner quarters, the area where the women stayed and moved about freely. The bigger second courtyard at Chokhani Double Haveli In Mandawa India was the centre of much of the household activities. This courtyard led to rooms lined with long running verandahs.

Sand dunes in Churu | Beautiful Churu 2021 | Glorious Amazing Rajasthan
While travelling around #Churu, we found this amazing place. Sand dunes are generally attributed and found in Jaisalmer, but so close to delhi (not so close but... ) this was totally unexpected.
Its a must stop by place and you can spend in a good 1-2 hours over here especially if you have kids, they will enjoy for sure.

Mandawa is a town in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan in India. It is part of Shekhawati region. Mandawa is situated 190 km off Jaipur in the north.
The fort town of Mandawa is well connected with the other places in region through a good network of roads.
This town has been referred to as the open art gallery of Rajasthan because the entire Shekhawati region and not just Mandawa is dotted with fascinating mansions(havelis) that have lavishly painted walls.

This 100-year-old Haveli is famous for its architecture and paintings, Bollywood's Favorite Destination for Movie Shooting, PK, Bajrangi Bhaijan, Mirza Sahibaan and many more
Ram Pratap Nemani Haveli
The Haveli has been recently converted into a Heritage Hotel where one can experience untouched frescos dating back to the 18th century.
Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli
This haveli has a painting depicting Indra Dev on an elephant and Lord Shiva on his Nandi bull.Goenka Double HaveliThis haveli, with two gates, has a monumental façade of elephants and horses.
Murmuria Haveli
The paintings of trains, cars, George V, and Venice were executed on the walls of this haveli during the 1930s by Balu Ram, one of the last working artists of the region.
Mohan Lal Saraf Haveli
A picture of a Maharaja stroking his moustaches beautifies this haveli.Gulab Rai Ladia
The Bansidhar Newatia Haveli, Lakshminarayan Ladia Haveli and Chokhani Double Haveli are some of the other painted havelis in the area.
Murals in the Thakurji temple, located opposite the Goenka Double Haveli and the Murmuria Haveli, include soldiers being shot from the mouths of cannons, a reflection of the horrors of the Mutiny of 1857. Further west are a couple of chhatris, and a step-well, still used today and bearing paintings inside its decorative corner domes.

Alsisar Haveli

As it's home suggests it was built by the poddar. it came up in 1872 and has some great Murals especially in the down the scene fall into three broad groups the Ramayana. the life of Krishna and ragamala paintings illustrating the musical notes.

chhatris,usually consisting of a cluster of pavilions are a common sight in Princely Rajasthan where they were built to commemorate a dead hero, but the poddar chhatri is so claborate that it could very well pass for a palace and would you believe it, there are a whopping soo murals all over it the Ramayana chhatri is more modest.
but Richer in paintings it has a beautiful condition of a murals in paintings it has a beautiful collection of murals in Maroon and blue showing scene from the Epic Ramayana.

Hotel Castle Mandawa Property
Hotel Castle Mandawa is inhabited and run by the 10th generation of the Royal Family of Mandawa. Built in 1755, the Mandawa Fort protected the trade outpost for the ancient caravan routes that came to Rajasthan from China and the Middle East. The fortress is now a heritage hotel and still maintains its royal splendour – frescoes, family portraits, antique cannons, arms and a huge brass gong which is struck every hour.
