TOP 5 Foods to try in CALABRIA, Italy!! ???????? food & travel

I also tried the famous spicy 'Nduja burger in Calabria! ????

Back in Calabria for more street food, this is my personal top 5 italian foods list to try in this beautiful Southern Italy region. We start with a typical cheese and salami platter, Italian's favourite way to start a meal, with a variety of cured hams, sausage and cheese with spicy onion jam. We ate this at a butcher who sources all the meats fresh from its own store.

Number 2 in the list is the famous sausage panini of Calabria, a well known street food especially in the summer season, where small towns have their street festivals and people love eating out in the streets.

Third, I show the famous stuffed eggplants of Calabria; these are bit size wonders, which you can find in traditional restaurants in Calabria (or if you have a nonna there, seh can cook the for you :D).

Number 4 is an amazing Tuna Steak Panini; this is a more recent trend in Calabria, we did not feel satisfied with the canned tuna sandwich so we went for the real thing :D

Finally, I'll show you some highlights of the Calabrian Pasticceria, the perfect dessert to have in the summer evening to find relief from the hot weather.

Hope you enjoy, let me know in the comment section! :D

This abandoned Italian town is simply AMAZING????????

I came to Calabria, southern Italy on a quest to visit its magnificent array of abandoned towns. Today I went to check out Pentedattilo, which was abandoned in 1971 because it was just too dangerous to live under an enormous rock that might fall any minute. Today, only four people live there. Join me!

Bova - A Griko speaking village in Calabria. Italy, walking tour in 4k.

✔️ ???????? Bova, Calabria, Italy walking tour in 4k. Greek-Bovesian Village!, Griko-speaking town. Area Grecanica.

Hi my friends! Welcome to an unusual walking tour, with homemade wine tasting in a greek speaking calabrian town!

Bova is one of the Greek-Bovesian speaking villages of Bovesia, one of the two Griko-speaking areas of southern Italy. The village is inscribed into I Borghi più belli d'Italia (The most beautiful villages in Italy) list.

???? BEST HOTELS where to stay in Bova ????

Capital of the Greek Calabria and one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Bova preserves an ancient history. The origins of Bova are linked to a legendary Greek queen, Oichista, who imprinted her footprint on the highest point of the fortress overlooking the village.

???? Best Tours in Italy ????

The ancient origins of the city of Bova (Vua) are testified by the numerous archaeological finds found near the Norman Castle dating back to the Neolithic period, even if the first historically documented evidence of the existence of Bova dates back to the early years of the second millennium, when between 1040 and 1064 the Normans imposed themselves on Arabs and Byzantines in the domination of Sicily and Calabria.

On this walking tour, I take you to the old town of Bova, one of the last Griko-speaking cities, where I found so much hospitality, like a free wine tasting from a total stranger! I was walking around and filming and he invited me to his house, where he produces traditional local wine. A wonderful experience!

It is kind of difficult to arrive in this town, the road is full of curves, climbs and some areas in poor condition. It is best to arrive by car or public bus from Bova Marina.

If you visit Reggio Calabria or the south of Calabria, do not miss this town. Another nearby town that cannot be missed is Pentedattilo. Find our video here:

Hope you like this video! Leave me a comment if you enjoy this small village town.

Places to see in ( Naples - Italy ) Gesu Nuovo Church

Gesù Nuovo is the name of a church and a square in Naples, Italy. They are located just outside the western boundary of the historic center of the city. To the southeast of the spire, one can see a block away the Fountain of Monteoliveto and the piazza of the church of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi. The square is a result of the expansion of the city to the west beginning in the early 16th century under the rule of Spanish viceroy Pedro Alvarez de Toledo. The square of Gesù Nuovo contains three prominent landmarks:

The Church of Gesù Nuovo
The Church of Santa Chiara
The spire or guglia of the Immaculate Virgin

The Church of Gesù Nuovo was originally a palace built in 1470 for Roberto Sanseverino, Prince of Salerno. The Jesuits had already built a church with this name in Naples, now called Gesú Vecchio. Political intrigues by the Sanseverino family caused the property to be confiscated, and eventually sold in the 1580s to the Jesuits for 45,000 ducats to construct a church (1584–1601) under architect Giuseppe Valeriano. The construction was also helped by local support including that of Roberta Carafa, Countess of Maddaloni. The adjacent gardens of Isabella Feltria, Principessa di Bisignano were also included in the construction. Construction of the church began in 1584. The new church retained the unusual facade, originally built for the palace, faced with rustic ashlar diamond projections.

The Church of Santa Chiara is a Gothic style church-convent built between 1310 and 1328 for the wife of Robert, King of Naples. It has a belfry that stands within the grounds at the northeast corner. The complex retains the citadel-like walls setting it apart from the outside world.

The Guglia dell'Immacolata is a monument that stands in the square in front of the church of Gesù Nuovo. It is the tallest and most ornamental of three such plague columns in Naples. Putatively, it was built to invoke the Virgin Mary's protection from the plague. Begun in the 17th century, it was completed only in 1750 after decades of pauses in construction.

TOUR ITALIA| Altomonte Calabria| Angel La Fata #ALTOMONTE #CALABRIA #ITALIA #VIAJES #Italy

Altomonte is a town and comune in the province of Cosenza, in the Calabria region of southern Italy

The village of Altomonte, rich in rivers and hilly landscapes, is located in Calabria. There are abundant olive groves and native vineyards producing the balbini wines, already decanced by Pliny the Elder. The village was first called Brahall, then Bragalla, Antifluvius until 1343 and finally Altomonte, when the county passed to the Sangineto and then to Sanseverino, the principals of Bisignano bound to the Ruffo of Calabria. The story has left important signs to be discovered in an itinerary that goes from the modern open air theater (now home to many international events), to medieval alleys, to the church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, a rare example of Gothic-Angolan art, and the Civic Museum, located in the former Convent of the Dominicans. With the Monastic Complex and the presence of Dominicans, wanted by Countess Cobella Ruffo in the 15th century, the town became a center of culture; hosted the philosopher Thomas Campanella, who here thought of the City of the Sun, and novelist Matteo Bandello. A few steps from the convent, we find the Norman Castle (11th century) and the Pallotta Tower (XIth century), a square-based fortress now home to the Azzinari Museum. Finally, you reach the church of St. James the Apostle, of probable Byzantine origin. In the lower part of the village, we find the Monastery Complex of San Francesco di Paola (circa 1635), which now houses the Municipal Headquarters, considered one of the most beautiful municipi of Italy.

Altomonte, with over 300 ceremonies a year, is defined as the hamlet of weddings, as weddings from all over Italy and abroad decide to celebrate here the happy event for the beauty of these places. Among the streets and alleys of the village you can find typical products and local craftsmanship: from wine to craft products in clay, wood, wicker etc. Remarkable are the curious wooden postcards, the old embroidery, the refined liqueurs, sweets and typical products, including the Bread of Altomonte, for which the village has become a symbol of typical Calabrian cuisine. #Abruzzo #Basilicata #Calabria #Campania #Cerdeña #EmiliaRomagna #Friuli #VeneziaGiulia #Lazio #Liguria #Lombardia #Marche #Molise #Piamonte #Puglia #Sicilia #Toscana#TrentinoAltoAdige #Umbria #Valled'Aosta #Veneto

Naples Cathedral or The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary or Duomo di Napoli - Naples Italy - ECTV

Naples Cathedral or The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, (Italian: Duomo di Napoli, Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta or Cattedrale di San Gennaro; Neapolitan: Viscuvato 'e Napule) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, the main church of Naples, southern Italy, and the seat of the Archbishop of Naples. It is widely known as the Cattedrale di San Gennaro, in honour of Saint Januarius, the city's patron saint.

The present cathedral was commissioned by King Charles I of Anjou. Construction continued during the reign of his successor, Charles II (1285-1309) and was completed in the early 14th century under Robert of Anjou. It was built on the foundations of two palaeo-Christian basilicas, whose traces can still be clearly seen. Underneath the building excavations have revealed Greek and Roman artifacts.

The cathedral gives access to the archaeological remains in the crypt of the neighbouring original palaeochristian church of Santa Restituta where there is a Greek wall belonging to the temple of Apollo, in opus reticulatum. Under the apse the peristyle of a late imperial domus can be seen; also a stretch of Roman aqueduct after the foundation of the city and a stretch of Greek road on an inclined plane.

Another attraction of the interior is the Royal Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro, with frescoes by Domenichino and Giovanni Lanfranco, altarpieces by Domenichino, Massimo Stanzione and Jusepe Ribera, the rich high altar by Francesco Solimena, the bronze railing by Cosimo Fanzago and other artworks, including a reliquary by French masters of the 14th century.

Other artworks include an Assumption by Pietro Perugino, canvasses by Luca Giordano and the palaeo-Christian baptistery, with mosaics from the 4th century. The main chapel is a restoration of the 18th century, with a Baroque relief by Pietro Bracci. The Minutolo Chapel, mentioned in Boccaccio's Decameron, has 14th-century frescoes.

The crypt is by the Lombard Tommaso Malvito. The façade was reworked by Enrico Alvino in the late 19th century, but retains the 15th century portal, including some sculptures by Tino da Camaino.

The church houses a vial of the blood of Saint Januarius, which is brought out three times a year, on the first Saturday in May, on 19 September and 16 December, when the dried blood usually liquefies. If the blood fails to liquefy, then legend has it that disaster will befall Naples.

A recent hypothesis by Garlaschelli, Ramaccini, and Della Sala is that the vial contains a thixotropic gel,[1][2] he also explained on the Blood Miracle of Riddles of the Dead series on National Geographic Channel.[3] In such a substance viscosity increases if left unstirred and decreases if stirred or moved. Researchers have proposed specifically a suspension of hydrated iron oxide, FeO(OH), which reproduces the color and behavior of the 'blood' in the ampoule.[4] The suspension can be prepared from simple chemicals that would have been easily available locally since antiquity.[5][6] On March 21, 2015, the blood in the vial appeared to liquify during a visit by Pope Francis. This was taken as a sign of the saint's favour of the pope. The blood did not liquify when Pope Benedict XVI visited in 2007.

My name is Eric Clark and I am a world traveler. I have been around the world a few times and decided to help fund my travels by sharing my videos and pictures. I have been to almost every country and would be glad to give tips and pointers. Drop me a note. = )

Urlaub in Kalabrien, Italien | Catanzaro, Tropea, Skylla, Soverato | 4k Video | Kalabrien Städte

Urlaub in Kalabrien, Italien. „Karibik Europas“ – so nennen Touristen Kalabrien.

Klima in Kalabrien

Was zu sehen

Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo or New Jesus Church. WOW! - Naples Italy - ECTV

Gesù Nuovo (Italian New Jesus) is the name of a church and a square in Naples, Italy. They are located just outside the western boundary of the historic center of the city. To the southeast of the spire[clarification needed], one can see a block away the Fountain of Monteoliveto and the piazza of the church of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi. The square is a result of the expansion of the city to the west beginning in the early 16th century under the rule of Spanish viceroy Pedro Alvarez de Toledo. The square of Gesù Nuovo contains three prominent landmarks:

History
The new church retained the unusual facade, originally built for the palace, faced with rustic ashlar diamond projections.[1]

When the Jesuits were expelled from Naples in 1767, the church passed to the Franciscan order. The Jesuits returned in 1821, only to be expelled again in 1848.

Art
Solimena's preliminary sketch in the Louvre, Paris
The vault frescos, representing biblical and saintly narratives that exalt the name of Jesus, were carried out by Belisario Corenzio and Paolo de Matteis. At the back of the facade is The Expulsion of Heliodorus from the Temple (1725), a baroque masterpiece by Francesco Solimena. On the four pillars which support the dome are frescos of the four Evangelists, carried out by Giovanni Lanfranco. The inside of the dome had also been decorated by Lanfranco, but this was destroyed in the earthquake of 1688. Paolo de Matteis then repainted a new dome.[2][3] The frescos of the life of the Virgin, placed on the second part of the vault up to the apse, are by Massimo Stanzione.

Surrounding the altar are three bronze bas-reliefs on a black marble base: on the left, The Supper at Emmaus (by Salvatore Irdi), on the right, The Promise of the Eucharist at Capernaum, and in the middle a reproduction of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. These last two bas-reliefs are by Gennaro Calì.

Above the altar, with didactic and historical symbols concerning the mystery of the Eucharist, are eight busts of saints who glorified the Eucharist. From left to right are medallions of Saints Juliana of Liège, Stanislaus Kostka, Thomas Aquinas, Francis Borgia, Gaetano Thiene, and the blessed Lanfranc of Canterbury. Gennaro Calì completed four medallions; the third and the fourth busts are by Costantino Labarbera.

Chapel of the Visitation
The chapel of the Visitation has an altar-piece by Massimo Stanzione. Under the altar there is a bronze urn containing the mortal remains of St. Joseph Moscati (1880–1927), a biochemistry teacher at the University of Naples and head physician of the Ospedale degli Incurabili, canonized on 25 October 1987 by Pope John Paul II. His medical activities are shown in the triptych sculptured on the urn by Amedeo Garufi. The left panel shows the professor with his students, the middle the saint enlightened by the Eucharist, the right one the doctor, giving comfort to suffering and sick people at the Hospital. In 1990, a bronze statue of the saint, by Pier Luigi Sopelsa, was erected to the left of the altar.

Ex voto in Gesù Nuovo church
Chapel of Saint Francis Xavier
In the chapel of Saint Francis Xavier, the altar-piece shows Saint Francis Xavier receiving a vision of the Virgin Mary, attributed to Giovanni Bernardino Azzolino. On the upper part, three paintings on the wall by Luca Giordano and the vault frescos by Corenzio and De Matteis represent episodes from the saint's life.
