Interesting places to visit in Germany: Bayreuth | House Wahnfried

The Richard Wagner Museum in the house “Wahnfried”, former residence of the Wagner family, is an important German cultural centre.
It is a place where not only may the aura of one of the greatest German artists be sensed in a special and authentic way, but which is also symbolic of the ambivalent and sensitive nature of German intellectual and cultural history spanning the last 150 years.

Walking in BAYREUTH / Germany ???????? - 4K 60fps (UHD)

Bayreuth is a town in Bavaria, Germany. The town is mostly known for the annual Bayreuth Festival. At the festival Wagner's operas are performed which draws many visitors.

We visit the town on a rainy day and start our tour at the La-Spezia-Platz and walk towards the center via the castle. We get to the City Church of the Holy Trinity Bayreuth and see more of the inner city.

The tour continues to the new castle with the Hofgarten which is full of fallen leaves this day in fall.

At last we see the Richard Wagner Museum in the composer's former home, Villa Wahnfried, where we end this walk.

Walking in KULMBACH / Germany ????????- Rainy Sunday Tour - 4K 60fps (UHD)

Kulmbach / Germany is a town in Franconia, Bavaria. The town is famous for Plassenburg Castle, for its sausages and (thanks to a large brewery) for its beer. There are a few other sights in the city center which we will visit on this walking tour.

We start our walk at the Dr.-Stammberger-Halle where events of the city mostly take place. Next we walk into the old town of Kulmbach but first uphill to the White Tower (Weißer Turm). It gets further up to the Red Tower (Roter Turm) and we can enjoy some view over Kulmbach. It's a rainy Sunday and few people are out in the street.

Our tour continues heading down to the center again where we see the Petrikirche. We stroll around some back alleys while heading towards the market square with the Townhall of Kulmbach and the Luitpoldbrunnen.

We check out a few of Kulmbach's pedestrian streets though with the shops closed on Sunday we eventually head to the Zinnsfelderbrunnen. So we get back to where we started, the Dr.-Stammberger-Halle, to end this tour of Kulmbach.

Timeline:
0:00 Dr.-Stammberger-Halle
1:00 Uphill to White Tower
4:00 Red Tower and View
6:30 Downhill to Petrikirche
10:00 Some Back Alleys
14:00 Market Square
16:00 Kulmbach Central Streets
18:00 Zinnsfelderbrunnen & More Center
22:30 Back to the White Tower & Starting Point

Bayreuth - Margravial Opera House Becomes World Heritage Site | Discover Germany

Most people associate Bayreuth with the Richard Wagner Festival, which attracts thousands of Wagner-lovers from around the world to the Bayreuth Festival Theatre, the opera house he had built solely for performances of his operas. But Bayreuth has another opera house: the 18th century Margravial Opera House...
Find out more:

Margravial Opera House Bayreuth - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth is a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site. It's an opera house and theatre built in the 1740s by the ruling Margrave and his wife, Wilhelmina, a great patron and participant in the arts. Despite the grand stone facade, the interior of the building is entirely done in wood and plaster, though it's difficult to tell. Everything is covered in elaborate baroque decorations loaded with symbolism, and looks absolutely fantastic after a recent five-year restoration project. Let's check it out!

STADT BAYREUTH in Oberfranken - Rundgang

12.06.2020.Eine sehr schöne Stadt in Oberfranken. Neues Schloss, altes Opernhaus und mehr. Bayern-Deutschland-Germany

Eremitage Bayreuth | Gärten in Bayern

Taking the train in Germany from Frankfurt to Berlin

When we boarded our train in Frankfurt bound for Berlin it was apparent we were no longer in Kansas (and by Kansas, I mean Thailand). Modern, clean and impeccably on time, we boarded the train at exactly 17 minutes after the hour as printed on our tickets.
Although our ticket was in Euros and not Baht, I instantly felt more relaxed. For new readers, you may not realize we derailed on our Thai train ride bound from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

For just 10 Euros more total, we decided to put on our fancy pants and upgrade our seats from regular to first class. Sitting in our private compartment with a sliding glass door we had the entire six seats all to ourselves. Leaning back and reclining in a chair I alternated between sleeping, working on my computer and peering outside the window to enjoy the scenic German countryside.

Given the level of comfort we experienced, it was almost a little shocking when our four hour train ride ended abruptly in Berlin. It might sound crazy but I almost wanted to stay on board. This was fun.

Having just arrived in Germany from Thailand, we were still dealing with jet lag when we arrived at the train station in Frankfurt.

Our time in Asia has officially expired. We are here in Europe and we're starting our European adventures. Right now we're in the Frankfurt train station taking the train all the way to Berlin. We can't wait to get on board.

We are in a fancy little compartment here en route to Berlin. When we were booking our tickets we saw they had a special and it was only an additional ten Euros to travel in first class. We figured since it was a pretty long trip that we would splurge a little. Now we have this whole compartment to ourselves. Check it out.

Traveling by train really allowed us to see the contrast between countryside and urban centers. Some of the highlights included passing by cute little hillside towns, windmills and spotting urban graffiti.

What do you have over there? Well, I'm already enjoying my German baked goods. I found a pretzel sandwich with salami and cheese and vegetables. This is my little snack for the trip.

The last time we took a train ride was in Thailand and it was third class. We were sitting on hard metallic seats. What a difference this is. This seat I have here you can recline all the way back. It is super comfy.

I can't get over just how quiet this train ride is. I'm used to the rattling old Indian and Thai trains. The only other train system that I've taken that is on par with this was the KTX in Korea.

This has easily been one of the most comfortable train rides I've ever been on. I can't wait to do more train travel all around Europe:

This is part of our Travel in Germany series. We're making a series of videos showcasing German culture, German arts, German foods, German religion and German people.
