The 137,000 capacity Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. The circuit's biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix. With the exception of 1980, the race has been hosted there since the series's inception.[4]
Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting,[5] the site has three tracks – the 5.793-kilometre (3.600 mi) Grand Prix track,[2] the 2.405-kilometre (1.494 mi) Junior track,[3] and a 4.250-kilometre (2.641 mi) high speed oval track with steep bankings which has been unused for many decades and is now decaying.[4] The major features of the main Grand Prix track include the Curva Grande, the Curva di Lesmo, the Variante Ascari and the Curva Parabolica. The high speed curve, Curva Grande, is located after the Variante del Rettifilo which is located at the end of the front straight or Rettifilo Tribune, and is usually taken flat out by Formula One cars.
Drivers are on full throttle for most of the lap due to its long straights and fast corners, and is usually the scenario in which the open-wheeled Formula One cars show the raw speed they are capable of 372 kilometres per hour (231 mph) during the mid-2000s V10 engine formula, although in 2012 with the 2.4L V8 engines, top speeds in Formula One rarely reached over 340 kilometres per hour (211 mph). The 1.6L turbocharged hybrid V6 engine, 8-speed gearbox formula of 2014 displayed top speeds of up to 362 kilometres per hour (225 mph). The circuit is generally flat, but has a gradual gradient from the second Lesmos to the Variante Ascari. Due to the low aerodynamic profile needed, with its resulting low downforce,[6] the grip is very low; understeer is a more serious issue than at other circuits; however, the opposite effect, oversteer, is also present in the second sector, requiring the use of a very distinctive opposite lock technique. Since both maximum power and minimal drag are keys for speed on the straights, only competitors with enough power or aerodynamic efficiency at their disposal are able to challenge for the top places.[6]
In addition to Formula One, the circuit hosts an endurance event, the 1000 km Monza, which has been run as part of the World Sportscar Championship and the Le Mans Series. Monza also featured the unique Race of Two Worlds events, which attempted to run Formula One and United States Auto Club National Championship cars against each other, and previously held rounds of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, in the Italian motorcycle Grand Prix. Current major events are races of the World Touring Car Championship and the Superbike World Championship, as well as various local championship races.
The Monza circuit has been the arena of many fatal accidents, especially in the early years of the Formula One world championship,[6] and has claimed the lives of 52 drivers and 35 spectators. Track modifications have continuously occurred, to improve spectators safety and reduce curve speeds,[4] but it is still criticised by the current drivers for its lack of run-off areas, most notoriously at the chicane that cuts the Variante della Roggia.[6]

The view from Grandstand 22 on Parabolica at Monza, 2014 Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix

This video was taken from Grandstand 22 during Free Practice 1 (FP1) on Friday September 5, 2014. This is one of the few permanent grandstands at Monza - unlike other grandstands which are metal or concrete bleachers, there are individual seats in Grandstand 22 (but without backs). The grandstand provides a good view of the final turn at Monza, the famous Parabolica, which recently had a new tarmac run-off area added to it. There's a large TV screen opposite so you can follow the on-track action. Tickets for Grandstand 22 cost a maximum of 340 EUR for 3-days in 2014 (less with early bird discounts). The view from Grandstand 19 inside Variante Ascari at Monza, 2014 Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix

This video was taken from the covered Grandstand 19 (also called Outer Variant B) during Free Practice 1 on Friday September 5, 2014. There are a total of eight grandstands on the inside of the circuit at Variante Ascari (12-16 + 18-20) - this is located after the Ascari chicane on the straight which leads down to the Parabolica. You get a quite distant view of the cars exiting Ascari, but the view of the cars going down to Parabolica is blocked by trees. As with most grandstands at Monza, seats are metal bleachers (so bring a cushion, your rear end will thank you after three days) There is a good view of the large TV screen opposite the grandstand. Tickets for this grandstand cost a maximum of 340 EUR in 2014 (less with early-bird discounts). I made a compilation of 10 minutes dedicated to ALn 668 1000 series, 1200 series, 1800 series trains at Cremona railway station. 3 of 5 filmed trains are ALn 668 1800 series because they are the oldest which actually travel in Italy. I filmed (from the first to the last video):

Cominciano le prime prove in linea per il nuovo ATR 220 PESA di Trenitalia. Protagonista del video l'ATR 220.001, il modello presentato precedentemente a Roma Termini con le autorità. In testa, la D445.1143 si occupa della trazione via Tirrenica - Sarzana - S.Stefano di Magra - Aulla Lunigiana fino a Gragnola, in Garfagnana, linea dove il PESA effettuerà una serie di prove in notturna. Dopo una veloce fase di aggancio del convoglio appena arrivato dal deposito S.Ermete, il treno lascia la stazione Centrale di Pisa.

ENGLISH:
ATR 220 PESA tests are started. The train i filmed is the ATR 220.001, the same model which was officially presented in Rome Terminal station not long ago. D445.1143, at the head, tows the train to Gragnola via Tirrenica - Sarzana - S.Stefano di Magra - Aulla Lunigiana. The PESA will do some tests from Gragnola station during the night and will go back to Pisa at the beginning of the day. After a fast preparation, the train leaves Pisa Central station. Enjoy!
