Canton of Uri
It is one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland and a founding member of the Swiss Confederation. It is located in Central Switzerland. The canton's territory covers the valley of the Reuss between the St. Gotthard Pass and Lake Lucerne. The official language of Uri is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken dialect is the Alemannic Swiss German called Urner German [de]. Uri was once the only canton where the children in school had to learn Italian as their first foreign language, but in the school year of 2005/2006 this was changed to English, as in other Central and Northeastern Swiss cantons. The population is about 35,000 of which 3,046 (or 8.7%) are foreigners. The legendary William Tell is said to have hailed from Uri.

Canton of Grisons / Graubünden
The Grisons, Graubünden or Grigioni, more formally the Canton of the Grisons or the Canton of Graubünden, is one of the twenty-six cantons of Switzerland. It has eleven regions, and its capital is Chur. The German name of the canton, Graubünden, translates as the Grey Leagues, referring to the canton's origin in three local alliances, the Three Leagues. The other native names (Grischun in Rumantsch Grischun and Grigioni in Italian) also refer to the Grey League. The Alpine ibex is the canton's heraldic symbol.

Flüelen
It is a municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. It is situated on the shore of Lake Lucerne.

The A2 (the Gotthard Motorway) is a motorway in Switzerland.
It forms Switzerland's main north–south axis from Basel to Chiasso, meandering with a slight drift toward the east. It lies on the Gotthard axis and crosses the Alps.

Wassen
It is a municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. As of 2006, Wassen has an area of 97 km2 (37 sq mi). Of this area, 12.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 18.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.1% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (68.1%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).

Göschenen
(German, Italian: Casinotta, Romansh: Caschanuttais) a village and municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. It sits at the northern end of the Gotthard tunnel. The Göschenen riots (1875) saw Urner troops opening fire on Italian miners demonstrating for better working conditions and wages on the tunnel's construction site.

Teufelsbrücke
Schöllenen Gorge (German: Schöllenenschlucht; Schöllenen) is a gorge formed by the upper Reuss in the Swiss canton of Uri between the towns of Göschenen to the north and Andermatt to the south. It provides access to the St Gotthard Pass. Enclosed by sheer granite walls, its road and railway require several spectacular bridges and tunnels, of which the most famous is a stone bridge known as the Teufelsbrücke (Devil's Bridge).

Andermatt
It is a mountain village and municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. At an altitude of 1437 meters above sea level, Andermatt is located at the center of the Saint-Gotthard Massif and the historical center cross of north-south and east-west traverses of Switzerland. It is some 28 km (17 mi) south of Altdorf, the capital of Uri.

Oberalp Pass
(Romansh: Alpsu or Cuolm d'Ursera, German: Oberalppass) (el. 2044 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps connecting the cantons of Graubünden and Uri between Disentis and Andermatt.

Bellinzona Switzerland - The City of Castles

Bellinzona is the southernmost capital of Switzerland. The skyline of the capital of Ticino is defined by the powerful fortifications, comprising three of the best-preserved medieval castles in Switzerland, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bellinzona (German: Bellenz) is strategically positioned where the valley narrows on the way to the Alpine passes of St. Gotthard, San Bernardino and Lucomagno (Lukmanier). The town acts as a gateway to Italy for those travelling from the North, and the keyhole to the Alps for those coming from the South.

The picturesque corners and squares, the courtyards and the neo-Classical, Italian-style theatre, and the sympathetically restored old houses tell visitors the history of what is culturally a Lombardy town. In its alleyways are richly decorated patrician houses and beautiful churches. Yet behind the austere charm of the medieval town is all the dynamic life of a modern meeting-place. Numerous boutiques, cafés and specialist shops offering culinary delicacies invite you to linger and window-shop. Each Saturday there is a big weekly market in the historical city center.

The fortifications of Bellinzona are among the most important examples of medieval defensive architecture in the Alps, and have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since the year 2000. From the Castelgrande, Bellinzona's oldest and mightiest castle, there is a beautiful view over the Old Town and the surrounding area. A little museum in the Castelgrande documents the history of Bellinzona's castles and town centre. There are also museums in the other two castles.

It was the Romans who realised the strategic importance of the site, and first built a castle here, in the first century A.D. In the Middle Ages this was extended to form a long, impregnable fortress. Because of its location, Bellinzona was always a bone of contention between the Dukes of Milan and the Swiss. It was only in 1516 that the town first became part of the Swiss Federation.

Bellinzona is ideally located for excursions to the nearby holiday resorts of Locarno and Ascona, over Monte Ceneri to the southern Tessin with its main town, Lugano, up the romantic side valleys of the Tessin or northwards into the Leventina, with the Bedretto valley, or into the sunny Blenio valley.

The “Tre Castelli” are the symbol of Ticino’s capital, and form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Castelgrande and Montebello house museums relate the town’s rich history. Furthermore, in Castelgrande and Sasso Corbaro you can find some temporary exhibitions. From the three castles it is possible to admire a splendid panorama of the city, as well as the surrounding mountains up to Lake Maggiore.

Tour of Biasca Switzerland Countryside

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! AND THANK YOU FOR PASSING 100 SUBS!
My adventure across Europe continues and I finally made it to Switzerland! This country is beautiful and photographs and videos are not able to do justice to its beauty. If there is one country and only one country that I can go to ever in my life - it would probably be Switzerland. I could spend the rest of my life, living off grilled fish bbq and sit by the foot of the Swiss Alps all night and day. Maybe this sounds like a good retirement plan.

Nevertheless, follow me on this adventure across Switzerland. I have many videos to come. Like and subscribe to show your support. It keeps me going.

Thank you!

BIASCA TICINO WALKING TOUR by ShingBase

Biasca has an area, as of 1997, of 59.13 square kilometers (22.83 sq mi). Of this area, 2.86 km2 (1.10 sq mi) or 4.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 26.6 km2 (10.3 sq mi) or 45.0% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 2.92 km2 (1.13 sq mi) or 4.9% is settled (buildings or roads), 1.19 km2 (0.46 sq mi) or 2.0% is either rivers or lakes and 21.7 km2 (8.4 sq mi) or 36.7% is unproductive land.
In 948, the Bishop of Vercelli donated the area around Biasca to the Bishop of Milan. This led to the spiritual and secular domination of the valley north of Bellinzona. During the Bishop's conflicts with the Holy Roman Empire over the Lombardy provinces, Biasca and the surrounding region suffered from armies marching through the valley.[

It was built as single bore tunnel accommodating a standard gauge double-track railway throughout. When opened in 1882, the Gotthard Tunnel was the longest tunnel in the world. The tunnel rises from the northern portal at Göschenen (1,106 m (3,629 ft)) and the highest point (1,151 m (3,776 ft)) is reached after approximately 8 kilometres (5.0 mi). After two more kilometers, the border between the cantons of Uri and Ticino is passed; after another 5 kilometres (3.1 mi), the tunnel ends at the southern portal near to Airolo (1,142 m (3,747 ft)). The trip takes about seven to eight minutes by train. Services are operated by the Swiss Federal Railways.

Things to do in Switzerland

Switzerland is a must visit place in Europe , with its glacial lakes , the Alps , green field and all the nature are very stunning ! This is my 3rd time traveling to Switzerland , but this time I use 10 days to explore best place of 7 cities/Town by train in (Budget way) & I remember the first time I went to Switzerland Verbier was at the age of 16 , it gave me a lot of memories and makes me wanna come back again. The natural beauty in Swiss is calm and cool. The water , Lake , river so clean and fresh! It’s not a fast phase life style here and small population. A very safe place to visit alone. Hope you enjoy my video and subscribe my Youtube channel if you wish to see more upcoming Travel & Food content videos.
