If you're looking for a peaceful hike with beautiful scenery, then Mount Nebo State Park is definitely the hike for you! You'll get to explore the park and enjoy some amazing views of the Ozarks, all while getting some exercise.

So saddle up and join us on this adventure to Mount Nebo State Park, a hidden gem in Arkansas that you don't want to miss!

Situated in the Arkansas River Valley just 45 minutes from Arkansas Wine Country, this state park sits atop the 1,350-foot Mount Nebo.
The 1930s-era Civilian Conservation Corps constructed many rustic-style cabins, pavilions, bridges, and 14 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails.
The drive up to the park can be a little nerve wracking. We would never advise anyone to take a rig over 20' up here! Great for van lifers though.

IThere are also 34 campsites (24 Class B and 10 hike-in tent sites). Note: there is not a dump station at the park. Other facilities include a swimming pool (fee required), tennis courts, picnic areas, pavilions, and a visitor center with a gift shop.

Mount Nebo State Park is a certified Trail of Tears National Historic Trail Site. Mount Nebo, overlooking the Arkansas River from the south, witnessed the removal of all five of the tribes that were removed along the water route of the Trail of Tears. Mount Nebo offers panoramic views of the Arkansas River from the Rim Trail. Learn more about the Trail of Tears in Arkansas state parks.

As we mentioned, we took a wrong turn and ended up hiking The Bench trail which was more of a moderate trail. The mountain bike trails here are phenomenal and people drive for hours to bike here.

Eureka Springs, Arkansas (Little Switzerland of America)

Eureka Springs is a city in Carroll County, Arkansas, and one of two county seats for the county. It is located in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas, near the border with Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 2,166.

The entire city is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Eureka Springs Historic District. Eureka Springs has been selected as one of America's Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Eureka Springs was originally called The Magic City, Little Switzerland of the Ozarks, and later the Stairstep Town because of its mountainous terrain and the winding, up-and-down paths of its streets and walkways.

It is a tourist destination for its unique character as a Victorian resort, which first attracted visitors to use its then believed healing springs. The city has steep winding streets filled with Victorian-style cottages and manors. The historic commercial downtown of the city has an extensive streetscape of well-preserved Victorian buildings. The buildings are primarily constructed of local stone, built along limestone streets that curve around the hills, and rise and fall with the topography in a five-mile long loop. Some buildings have street-level entrances on more than one floor and other such oddities: the Basin Park Hotel has its front entrances on the floor below first, and a ground-level emergency exit in the back of the building on the fifth floor. The streets wind around the town, with few intersecting at right angles. There are no traffic lights.

Eureka Springs is located in western Carroll County. The center of the city is in a narrow valley at the headwaters of Leatherwood Creek, a north-flowing tributary of the White River. Houses and streets climb both sides of the valley to the surrounding ridgecrests. U.S. Route 62 runs along a ridgecrest through the southern part of the city and leads east 11 miles (18 km) to Berryville and west 34 miles (55 km) to Rogers. Arkansas Highway 23 is Main Street through the center of Eureka Springs and leads north 11 miles (18 km) to the Missouri state line.

The city was founded when the springs at this location were more evident. Over-extraction of water from the springs has greatly diminished their flow rates. All of the more than 140 springs in the town are cold-water springs.

Road Trip East: Exploring Arkansas Caves & other Attractions

Road Trip East: Exploring Arkansas Caves & other Attractions. Starting in Eureka Springs, with all of its narrow streets, hanging gardens and springs and unique statues and artwork. From there it was on to Thorncrown Chapel, Blue Spring and War Eagle Caverns, then east to Onyx and Cosmic Caves and, finally, Blanchard Springs Caverns and the town of Mountain View, bluegrass capitol of the Ozarks. Ozark Highlands Scenic Byway, Arkansas Highway 21

AR 21 North from Clarksville to Kingston.

The Ozark National Forest encompasses 1,200,000 acres (4,856 km2) primarily in the scenic Ozark Mountains in northern Arkansas. The forest includes the highest point in Arkansas, Mount Magazine, and Blanchard Springs Caverns. The southern section of the forest lies along the Arkansas River Valley south to the Ouachita Mountains.

The forest was created in 1908 by proclamation of President Theodore Roosevelt. The forest is home to over 500 species of trees and woody plants. Hardwoods, predominantly oak and hickory, comprise the majority of the forest. The forest contains five designated wilderness areas and several Wildlife Management Areas.

The Ozark Highlands Trail, built and maintained by over 3,000 volunteers, is the longest hiking trail in the forest and extends for 165 miles (270 km) from the Buffalo National River to Lake Fort Smith State Park in the far western portion of the state. The forest also contains several multi-use trails including the Pedestal Rock Trail and the Alum Cove Natural Bridge Trail and a few wheelchair-accessible trails.

In addition to the hiking trails, the forest provides trails designated for horseback riding, canoeing, mountain biking, and all-terrain vehicles. The longest horse trail is the Sylamore Trail with a length of 80 miles (130 km). This trail passes over rocky bluffs, into deep hollows, and across mountain streams. The Huckleberry Mountain Horse Trail has a stop at the Sorghum Hollow Horse Camp which was built and maintained by local horsemen.

AR 21 is a north–south state highway in north central Arkansas. The route of 99.14 miles (159.55 km) runs from US Route 64 (US 64) in Clarksville north across US 62 to Missouri Route 13 at the Missouri state line The route is a two-lane highway with the exception of a brief concurrency with US 62, a four-lane highway, in Berryville.

A portion of Highway 21 was designated as the Ozark Highlands Scenic Byway in 2005 by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). The byway begins at the southern terminus of Highway 21 at US 64 in Clarksville and runs north to the Buffalo National River near Boxley. Wildlife and scenic views are frequent along the nearly 35-mile-long (56 km) route. The highway is popular as a major route to the Ozark National Forest, the Ozark Highlands Trail, and the White River in addition to being the major travel route to cities in the area and points in southern Missouri.

from Winchester to Stephens City, Virginia, USA

Winchester is a city in northern Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley. The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley recounts the area’s history, and includes the 1790s Glen Burnie House and landscaped gardens.
