Wir beginnen unseren Rundgang durch Bernkastel-Kues (rund 7.000 Einwohner - Rheinland-Pfalz) im Stadtteil Bernkastel. Dort schauen wir uns u.a. das Graacher Tor, den Marktplatz mit seinen Giebelfachwerkhäusern und das Renaissance-Rathaus von 1608 an. Im Stadtteil Kues steht dann der Cusanusstift, das Hotel Drei Könige und der Bahnhof auf unserem Programm.

Eines der Highlights von Bernkastel ist der mittelalterliche Marktplatz mit seinen Giebelfachwerkhäusern aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, mit dem schmalen Spitzhäuschen von 1416. Hier findet jedes Jahr in der Adventszeit der Weihnachtsmarkt statt.

[en.] Every year tourists from all over the world visit Bernkastel-Kues, one of the most appreciated Moselle towns and the well-known winegrowing centre on the Middle Moselle. Bernkastel-Kues is situated on both sides of the river Moselle underneath the imposing ruins of Landshut Castle. From here you have a wonderful view over the vineyards and the river valley.
One of the highlights of Bernkastel is the medieval marketplace with its gabled half-timbered houses dating from the 17th Century and the narrow Spitzhaeuschen - Pointed House- from 1416. Every year in the Advent season the Christmas market takes place here.

Starting on the east bank of the Moselle in Bernkastel, we will walk along the river and then through the alleys of the old town and admire the many beautiful town squares surrounded by half-timbered houses that seem straight out of a fairy tale. Then it goes over the river to the district of Kues, which looks a bit different in terms of architecture, but also has many beautiful buildings such as the Hotel Drei Könige, the old train station or the houses on the Saarallee. After that we will walk a bit along the Moselle and watching the barges and river cruise ships before we end our little tour with a view of the ruins of Landshut Castle in the hills above the town. One of the more charming ports of call during our seven-night cruise
was on the Moselle River. Heidelberg docked within a 5-minute walk
from the city center of Bernkastel and within a 20-minute walk (with a
moderate grade) to the castle ruin of Burg-Landshut that overlooks the
city. The community's wine-growers tend Germany's largest continuous
expanse of vineyards. Needless to say, the wines here are heavenly.
