Pangasinan is a destination for tourists who wish to explore islands and beaches, waterfalls, and feast on tasty local cuisine - all just 3-4 hours of drive from Manila. Pangasinan translates to “place of salt” as it is a major producer of salt. In fact, two of their main products are bagoong (shrimp paste) and alamang (krill) that give additional flavor to dishes. Add Pangasinan to your bucket list if you're looking for a quick escape from the city.

See and Do
Pangasinan is famous for its Hundred Islands National Park, an island-hopping destination where you can go swimming, snorkeling, camping, cliff jumping and more. A must-visit as well are the white sand beaches and majestical waterfalls of Bolinao. Regarded as the Bangus (milkfish) Capital of the World, you shouldn't miss out on Pangasinan's Bangus Festival held annually in Dagupan City where locals dance on the streets in vibrant costumes and tourists can feast on bangus dishes. Aside from their bagoong products, Pangasinan is also known for their traditional Filipino rice cake called Puto Calasio that you should buy bags of as pasalubong (food souvenir) for friends and family back home.

Where to Stay
Pangasinan has beach resorts and hotels with prices ranging from budget to luxury.

WELCOME TO BAYAMBANG, PANGASINAN (WITH MY AP FAMILY) EPISODE #10

Bayambang is a first class municipality in the (central part of Southern) province of Pangasinan, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 111,521 people. It previously included the municipalities of Bautista, Alcala, Sto. Tomas, Rosales, Paniqui, Gerona and Camiling, Tarlac. It was founded in the 16th century by Agalet, an Aeta.

Bayambang is the former seat of the 5th Capital of the Revolutionary Philippine Republic. It celebrates its Malangsi Fishtival (1st week of April, Kalutan tan Gayaga ed Dalan).

Bayambang is the seat of the Pangasinan State University, the Colleges of Nursing and Education. The municipality maintains close relations with San Carlos City and Malasiqui, with whom it would partition the impoverished municipality of Basista if the said town would choose partition instead of reunification with San Carlos City.

According to oral tradition, “Bayambang” came from Pangasinan word “balangbang” or “waist”. The story went that a Spaniard was asking a native what the name of the place was and, without fully comprehending what was asked of him, the latter pointed out to his waist and responded by saying “balangbang”. Another story states that it came from the word “kulibangbang”, a plant that grew abundantly in the area during the pre-Spanish times. Still another account suggests that it could have come from the word “bayang-bayang” which refers to the scarecrows used in driving away birds that feasted on ripening palays.

Bayambang in the early days had a big territorial coverage. The municipalities of Bautista, Alcala, Sto. Tomas and Rosales were once part of the old Bayambang. Today, its size had been reduced after the aforementioned municipalities attained municipal status. Bayambang was founded in the 16th century by an Aeta known as Agalet.

The name of the town according to the legend came from the name of a plant called “balangbang”. As years passed by, the plant became extinct but the name “Bayambang” was retained and was given to designate the town.
