Balabac, Palawan Ultimate DIY Travel Guide 2023 (Itinerary + Budget)

Balabac is a far flung municipality located at the southernmost tip of Palawan. It is largely inhabited by a cultural group called Molbog who speak of their own language but are also fluent in Tagalog. The islands of Balabac have recently gotten into everyone’s travel bucket list but only a few could make it primarily due to its geographical location. It is nearer to Sabah, Malaysia than in Puerto Princesa City and is not as accessible as any other tourist destinations in the province like Coron, El Nido and Puerto Princesa City. This could also be observed with the goods that can be bought in Poblacion as these are more on Malaysian products than local ones. The expense that it would mean is another factor. Since it is far and the points of interests are also at a distance from one another, the means of transportation would cost a lot, too. Regardless, a lot would still brave and endure the trip and experience the marvelous Balabac.

Palawan Island in the Philippines is a true tropical paradise and the largest island in Palawan province. It's a long, stunning island that runs from the north-east to the south-west, surrounded by the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea. Even though it's the fifth-largest island in the Philippines, being about 450 kilometers long and 50 kilometers wide, it's kept its natural, untouched beauty. Many find their dream tropical escape here, with its perfect mix of white sandy beaches, mountains, and jungles, not to mention an impressive range of wildlife. Despite its popularity with tourists, Palawan Island has stayed beautifully undeveloped. High mountains rise straight from the sea, with the tallest peak, Mount Mantalingaham, reaching 2,086 meters. The sea around the island is just as spectacular, boasting coral reefs, rocky coves, and even an underground river, making it a haven for explorers and beach lovers alike.

[4K] The Great Kalayaan Expedition/Spratly Islands Tour Update

Two months ago, Kalayaan Island in the Spratlys was opened up for the first time for tourist expeditions. It was dubbed The Great Kalayaan Expedition. The expedition team, composed of journalists, vloggers, photography enthusiasts, fishing enthusiasts, recreational divers, and other invited guests, embarks on a 7-day, 6-night tour of the islands. The West Philippine Sea, also known previously as the South China Sea, is a highly contested territorial area where Southeast Asian countries have overlapping claims. How did the expedition go? Fly over rice field in Bataraza : Most beautiful undiscovered place in South Palawan - Philippines

Fly over rice field in Bataraza...
Most beautiful undiscovered place in South Palawan - Philippines

Bataraza, officially the Municipality of Bataraza, it has a population of 75,468 people.

The municipality was named after Datu Bataraza Narrazid, a locally influential Muslim chieftain and father of the town's first mayor and former mayor of Brooke's Point, then Datu Sapiodin Narrazid. Bataraza was part of the municipality of Brooke's Point until 1964.

Bataraza is located on the southernmost tip of Palawan Island, approximately 225 kilometres from Puerto Princesa City and about five to six hours by land. It has total land area of 957 km².

Bataraza is situated some 775 km south-west of Manila, between roughly 8.3 and 8.75 degrees latitude north of the equator. It stretches approximately 80 kilometres in north-easterly to south-westerly direction along the Sulu Sea, from the Malis River to Cape Buliluyan in the south. On the western side, it extends up to Wangly River.

It is bounded in the east by the Sulu Sea, in the west by a great mountain range, extending from Mount Mantalingahan (the highest peak in the province) to Mount Malitub, which serves as the divider between Bataraza and Rizal, and in the south-west by the South China Sea. Two large crocodiles were recovered here and were taken to Crocodile Farm in Puerto Princesa City.

A quick escape to ONOK ISLAND| Balabac|Palawan|Philippines|Island Hopping|Adventure|Best Island|Tour

You know i'd been to a lot of Island in Palawan, and still nothing compares to Onok Island in Balabac, Palawan. It is out of this world. If you're going to have an island hoping in Balabac this is the one place you shouldn't miss.

ONOK island (also spelled ONUK island) is a privately owned island in Balabac, located at eastern part of the Balabac proper and its about an hour to travel from the mainland. It was originally featured in the winning Photo George Tapan for the National Geographic Channel. Today its one of the highlight when visiting southern part of PALAWAN and when visiting Balabac islands.

We arive in Onok seashore at about 10 am in the morning, when it was low tide. Our boat coudn't dock near the island so, we have to wait for high tide so that the boat will be able to go near the island. From our position, we could already see the crystal clear water sorrounding Onok island. It was look like a giant swimming pool.

NOTE:

To those who watched this video and you are interested to go for Balabac, Palawan Island hoping, just leave your comment on this video. Maybe PALA-Boy Channel can help you to find quality service tour and travel agencies from the Municipality of Balabac.

When all you want is cold and hot water in one spot, look no further than 7 Falls, Hot Spring, and Nature Park Resort in Barangay Mainit. It’s nestled in the foothills of the town’s rolling verdant mountains, 13 kilometers away from the town proper. You could get there in 20 to 30 minutes by chartering a tricycle.
