A trip to Bastrop, Texas (downtown restaurants and live music)
Bastrop is a small town about 30 miles from Austin. It's got a nice strip of restaurants and breweries and places featuring live music. It's part of Central Texas and has a bit more of a conservative vibe. People shoot guns and they eat meat and they sometimes eat meat that they shot with their guns. They call themselves hip, not weird. The downtown area has a number of popular places for music, including Copper Shot Distillery, 602 Brewing Company, Bastrop Beer Company, and Neighbors Kitchen & Yard. Neighbors is known for great food and it overlooks the Colorado river. The Bastrop 1832 Farmers Market was happening on this Saturday and just across the way was the Bastrop Art Fest at the Lost Pines Art Center (every first Saturday). I had a gig up the road a bit at the Loebau Store, where they noted that many folks were away because it was the first day of hunting season. The Astros also won the world series. Good times.

Bastrop Texas 2020
Bastrop Texas 2020 is one of our favorite towns in
Texas. Bastrop is an amazing place for camping as
they have 2 state park near by, 2 LCRA parks and
quite a few RV parks as well. We love local
restaurants like Southside Market and PawPaw's
Catfish house. And the city parks are so much fun
Kaylyn and Keira didn't want to leave. At one
point Keira asked if we could move to Bastrop Texas.

Texas State Park - Bastrop State Park - Bastrop, Texas; July 2022
Weekend visit to Bastrop State Park. This is a nice park! Some of the walking trails were closed while we were there. The Historic Golf Shelter was also closed. There is no mountain bike trails at this park but you can bike on trails at near by Buescher State Park. A pass for one park is good for the other. We biked at Bastrop but stayed on the camp roads. Cell phone service was good for Verizon and T-Mobile providers,. We received OTA TV from stations in near-by Austin. The park is very close to the city of Bastrop, we took a couple of excursions to Historical Downtown Bastrop , Austin - The Capital, which is less than an hour away. We also went to Paige, TX and Cotton Bowl Speedway. World Famous Buc-ee's, Gas Station and giant general store is only 5 minutes from the park entrance.
Note on the swimming pool, reservations are required. I don't know if this is a Covid related deal?
Let us know in the comments things you liked/didn't like about this Bastrop State Park? We didn't get to see most of what the park has to offer. Lesson learn, we didn't bring our hiking boots...BIG mistake. Hopefully this will be the last time we visit a state park and NOT bring hiking boots.
Our camping spot #56, the water and electric was on the right side (passenger side). We had to run the water hose and electric cable under the RV to hook up, no big deal but I think I would mention it.

A Tour of Downtown Bastrop, Texas
Bastrop is a pretty town located just 30 miles east of Austin and is a town that will likely boom in the next few years with the drastic increase in population in the area.
Bastrop State Park - Texas State Park 15/89
Today we travel to Bastrop, TX! This is where Lydia went to school and is the closest thing to being her hometown state park. It was a tough day because we both were here when the Bastrop Complex Fire raged through and we knew and loved the area before it burned. While sad to still see the burned-out areas, the returning pines are a beauty to behold. Come with us for a walk through Bastrop State Park and learn about the Bastrop Complex Fire that changed this area forever.
