The Indian Pacific is one of the world's finest train journeys, carrying passengers on a three night, four day excursion, the full 4,352km across Australia between Sydney and Perth. This is a must-take trip for the rail enthusiast, being in the top five longest trains in the world, and traversing the world's longest straight piece of track (478km) on the Trans Australian Railway on the Nullarbor Plain. It's a luxury experience, encompassing several off-train stops and excursions at places of interest along the route.

The Australind train | Bunbury to Perth on an ageing diesel | Review
Find out what it's like to travel by train between Bunbury and Perth in Western Australia.
The Australind is an ageing, diesel train built in 1987 and increasingly beset by technical problems. The railcars are going to be replaced in 2023 but in the meantime - what's the journey like? Travelling twice daily between the West Australian capital and the state's third biggest city, Bunbury, The Australind features a buffet, comfortable seats and pleasant, green scenery.
The service is operated by TransWA narrow gauge ADP/ADQ railcars built by Comeng, Bassendean for Westrail in 1987. The diesel multiple units (DMU) generally operate in a three-car arrangement. The sets were refurbished in 2007 and 2010-11 and have a maximum speed of 120kmh.
My train to Bunbury was replaced by a bus because of engineering works but thankfully the return service to Perth was operated by The Australind.

Transwa Prospector Train Perth to Kalgoorlie - The fastest passenger service in Australia
With Covid cases keep popping up on the east coast of Australia it took me a lot of effort to finally get into WA to film this train review! I'm so excited!
The Prospector is operated by TransWA, the current rolling stocks are Transwa WDA class, they entered service in 2004. The new railcars are capable of reaching 200 km/h (124 mph), but track conditions have restricted their top speed to 160km/h (99 mph). From Perth to Kalgoorlie, travelling at an average speed of 95km/h, no other passenger train in Australia can cover such distance in this amount of time. What does the train look like? The Story of a Town
The Town of Bassendean is located approximately 10 kilometres north-east of Perth and 5 minutes from the Swan Valley vineyards. With a total area of 11 square kilometres, the Town is bounded by the Swan River, the City of Swan to the north and the City of Bayswater to the west. It has a river frontage of 7 kilometres.

Perth to Wave Rock, Western Australia (Nepali) | Road Trip
Tour to Wave Rock from Perth by Nepali living in Australia. This is probably one of the oldest rocks on earth. Wave Rock looks exactly like sea waves. This is a great travel destination in Australia.
Formed more than 2700 million years ago, Wave Rock is 14 meters high, and 110 meters long. The granite cliff resembling a wave about to break is on the northern face of a large erosional remnant called Hyden Rock. This curved cliff face is 15 meters high and 110 meters long which has been rounded by weathering and water erosion, undercutting its base and leaving a rounded overhang. It was formed by water dissolving and re-depositing chemicals in the granite as it runs down the cliff face.
This place is perfect to shoot Tiktok videos and for other video shooting. You can go picnic with your family. There are small hotels where you can spend a night to view surrounding areas. It is about 350 kilometers away from Perth. It takes about three and half hours to travel to wave rock from Cannington and 20 minutes extra from Perth.
This place is a unique to visit after lockdown in Australia. People come even from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide to visit this place. It gets too hot in this area. So, the best time to visit this area is between summer and winter.
There is a walking trail circling wave rock.
This is a travel guide as well. In this video, I have included information on how the wave rock was formed millions of years ago, well before human being existed. This place is best to spend your vacation.

Thrifty let me have a Mitsubishi ASX so I could go cruising around South Australia. I visited the capital, Adelaide, as well as driving to Port Lincoln to experience Shark Cage Diving and Swimming with the Seals. Also spent a bit of time in McLaren Vale drinking a bit of wine - love the reds! Saw the Burra Homestead, which is on the cover of the famous Midnight Oil album, Diesel and Dust! Did the horse drawn tram at Victor Harbor. Had a great trip!

Old Perth Road Markets
The Old Perth Road Markets is on the intersection of Guildford Road and Old Perth Rd in the heart of Bassendean. We are just across from the Bassendean Train Station.
By train you take the Midland Line and it takes about 12 minutes from Perth train station.
To reach Bassendean by car from Perth City Centre, turn on to Victoria Ave from St Georges Tce. This turns into Lord St and then it turns into Guildford Road. The total distance from St Georges Tce to Bassendean is 11km or about 15 minutes drive. There is plenty of parking as can be seen in the map above.
Calendar for the Markets
The markets are held on the last Sunday throughout the year (except December when we go for the last Sunday before Christmas). Being an outdoor market we have to keep an eye on the weather. If it is wet or a bit windy we have to cancel. But we do try to let everybody know as early as possible if this is going to happen.

Heritage Rail open day in Southwest , Western Australia, including a visit new model rail layout
Sunday the 26th June I went down to Boyanup to have a look at the southwest Rail & Heritage Centre, specifically to see the now fully restored Leschenault Lady a G class Steam locomotive from WAGR days and the Southwest Model Railway Group as I had heard they had built a new HO layout, there club is in the same precinct as the heritage centre so it worked out quite well. A big Thanks to Mick and Trevor fand all the guys who were running trains... At the precinct there were also other heritage locomotives and carriages, along with heritage agriculture machinery and working traditional blacksmiths.. all in all a quite interesting day.

Tonkin Highway Bridge Swan River Bassendean Perth
Just 50 meters walk from the Bassendean boat ramp in the massive Tonkin Highway Bridge. A great free tour can be had by walking under the Tonkin highway bridge and then up the stairs to the top. There's a great view of the city and the river from this bridge.
