The ULTIMATE Travel Guide to Melbourne Australia

Melbourne is one of the world's greatest cities and yes, one of its most liveable. It is also one of the world's best travel destinations and it offers the visitor an amazing number of attractions. This video details how to get around the city, where to eat, where to stay, where to get great coffee (many consider Melbourne the greatest coffee city on earth!), what there is to do and see in the city and the best day trips outside of Melbourne.

I hope you enjoy this video and please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE if you do. More videos about Melbourne and Australia (and New Zealand) coming soon. Thanks!

VRBO Link:

I admit to having a bias about Melbourne as I was born here and spent the first 11 years of my life in the City. I visit often and know the city like the back of my hand (although I do admit to having a hard time keeping up with the many changes in Melbourne over the years).

Some of the many attractions discussed in this video include the Queen Victoria Market, Sporting Events (tennis, Formula 1, cricket and the magnificent Aussie Rules Football), the Melbourne Zoo and Sealife, art and architecture and the famous Melbourne parks. The attractions outside of the city include the Great Ocean Road, the Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island (the Penguin Parade), Puffing Billy and the Healesville Sanctuary.

More about Melbourne:
Melbourne, Australia, stands as a vibrant and captivating destination that seamlessly blends urban sophistication with a relaxed cultural charm. Renowned for its diverse culinary scene, thriving arts and music culture, and stunning architecture, Melbourne offers a rich tapestry of experiences that make it an irresistible city to visit.

One of Melbourne's most distinctive features is its reputation as a food lover's paradise. The city boasts an eclectic array of dining options, ranging from trendy cafes serving up artisanal coffee and breakfast delights to upscale restaurants offering innovative global cuisine. Wander through bustling food markets like Queen Victoria Market, where fresh produce, local delicacies, and international flavors converge. The city's multicultural population is reflected in its dining offerings, ensuring that every palate is catered to.

Melbourne's artistic spirit is palpable, with a thriving arts scene that embraces both traditional and contemporary forms. The iconic National Gallery of Victoria showcases an extensive collection of art spanning centuries and continents, while the street art scene in neighborhoods like Fitzroy and Collingwood transforms the city's walls into open-air galleries. The Melbourne Arts Precinct, anchored by the Arts Centre Melbourne and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, serves as a hub for theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural events.

Sporting enthusiasts will find Melbourne to be a haven as well. The city is synonymous with major international sporting events, such as the Australian Open, one of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) holds a revered place in the hearts of sports fans and hosts cricket matches, Australian Rules Football games, and concerts. The passion for sports is deeply ingrained in the local culture, making attending a live event an exhilarating experience.

Melbourne's design and architecture contribute to its unique appeal. The city seamlessly integrates historic landmarks with contemporary structures. The Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcases stunning 19th-century architecture. On the other hand, Federation Square's bold and modern design has become a meeting point and cultural hub. The city's blend of old and new provides an intriguing visual landscape for exploration.

Beyond its urban offerings, Melbourne serves as a gateway to natural beauty. Just a short drive away, the Great Ocean Road unveils breathtaking coastal vistas and iconic rock formations like the Twelve Apostles. Yarra Valley, renowned for its wineries and lush landscapes, offers a relaxing retreat for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Perth Travel Guide - Australia Charming Memories

Perth Travel Guide - Australia Charming Memories

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia. Perth sprawls along a flat coastal plain, centred along the Swan River and bounded by the Darling Scarp to the east and the Indian Ocean coastline in the west. Despite its isolation and relatively small population, Perth is a surprisingly culturally diverse city. Due to the high rate of migration to Perth, slightly less than half of Perth's residents were born outside Australia. Its proximity to Southeast Asia and Africa has led to an influx of migrants from countries such as Malaysia, South Africa and Thailand, and this is reflected in the diversity of cuisine available in Perth. If you wish to experience a cosmopolitan culture without the hustle and bustle of larger cities then Perth is worth visiting.

The City has a temperate Mediterranean type climate. Summers are hot and dry whilst winters are generally wet and mild. Summer temperatures average 30°C/86°F between November and April. Maximum temperatures during the height of summer can reach and sometimes exceed the 40°C/104°F mark. Very hot days tend to have very low humidity making conditions more bearable.

The Perth metropolitan area has a fairly reliable and inexpensive public transport system operated by Transperth. Information about timetables, fares, disruptions or service alterations can be found on their website. The frequency of public transport decreases remarkably on weekends, and on weekdays in the evenings after 7 or 8pm. Always plan your journey before you travel. Travelling to the tourist attractions within Perth, Fremantle, Cottesloe, Scarborough is easy by public transport, but outside of that a car is significantly better.

The central business district of Perth is bounded by the Swan River to the south and east, with Kings Park on the western end, while the railway reserve formed a northern border. A state and federally funded project named Perth City Link sunk a section of the railway line, to allow easy pedestrian access between Northbridge and the CBD. The Perth Arena is a building in the city link area that has received several architecture awards from various institutions such as the Design Institute of Australia, the Australian Institute of Architecture, and Colorbond. St Georges Terrace is the prominent street of the area with 1.3 million m2 of office space in the CBD. Hay Street and Murray Street have most of the retail and entertainment facilities. The tallest building in the city is Central Park, which is the eighth tallest building in Australia. The CBD until 2012 was the centre of a mining-induced boom, with several commercial and residential projects being built, including Brookfield Place, a 244 m office building for Anglo-Australian mining company BHP Billiton.

Shellharbour Pool

Just a quick video review of Shellharbour ocean pool.

G’day the bald critic here again
this time we're at Shell Harbour Ocean pool it's right next to the ocean at Shellharbour Village Shellharbour New South Wales Australia.
Right on the coast of New South Wales just south of Port Kembla Shellharbour pool is a great day for the family.
As you can see also in the background there's a caravan park for your summer holidays, plenty of
areas for fishing there's a kiddies pool as well as the big Olympic sized swimming pool which is salt water.

There's also a small harbour with a park for the kids to play in and a little bit of swimming and also right nearby is the town centre of Shellharbour village itself so if you want to buy supplies for your holiday trip camping trip or just fish and chips Shellharbour's right there and best of all the pool is all free as well

So enjoy

Aboriginal Bora Rings: The Moggill Bora Ring - What is a Bora ring? Bora Rings were used for gatherings, dancing, and ceremonies such as male initiation. From this location there are views to the northwest with the Blackall Range and the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance. Bora is an initiation ceremony of the Aboriginal people of Eastern Australia. The word bora also refers to the site on which the initiation is performed. At such a site, boys, having reached puberty, achieve the status of men. The initiation ceremony differs from Aboriginal culture to culture, but often, at a physical level, involved scarification, circumcision, subincision and, in some regions, also the removal of a tooth. During the rites, the youths who were to be initiated were taught traditional sacred songs, the secrets of the tribe's religious visions, dances, and traditional lore. Many different clans would assemble to participate in an initiation ceremony. Women and children were not permitted to be present at the sacred bora ground where these rituals were undertaken.

Bora
The word Bora was originally taken from the Gamilaraay language spoken by the Kamilaroi people who lived in the region north of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales to southern Queensland. It was then adopted broadly to describe similar ritual sites and the ceremonies associated with them performed throughout Eastern Australia. Many other terms exist across Australia to denote similar initiatory rites on a ceremonial ground, such as burbung (Wiradjuri), and kuringal (Yuin). The specific word is said to come from the belt worn by initiated men.

Bora grounds and mythology
The appearance of the site varies among cultures, but it is often associated with stone arrangements, rock engravings, or other art works. In the bora rites of southeastern Australia, two circles were drawn, connected by a pathway, a schema which appears to replicate a sky Bora, or the configuration of a series of positions in the Milky Way. Typically, bora ground comprised a larger circle with a diameter of between 20–30 metres, and a smaller ring around 10–15 metres in diameter. The former was a more public space while the latter was sacred, and restricted to male participants who were either the instructing male elders or the initiands.

In south-east Australia, the Bora is often associated with the creator-spirit Baiame. In the Sydney region, large earth mounds were made, shaped as long bands or simple circles. Sometimes the boys would have to pass along a path marked on the ground representing the transition from childhood to manhood, and this path might be marked by a stone arrangement or by spirit footprints (mundowa), cut into the rock. In other areas of south-east Australia, a Bora site might consist of two circles of stones, and the boys would start the ceremony in the larger, public, one, and end it in the other, smaller, one, to which only initiated men are admitted.

The rings are joined by a sacred walkway. While most are confined to south-east Queensland and eastern New South Wales, five earth rings have been recorded near the Victorian town of Sunbury NSW.

Assessing Medical Fitness for Extreme Environments with Dr Kent Haworth | World Extreme Medicine...

Occupational Health is concerned with the impact of health on work and vice versa. We discuss the key approaches and broad principles in matching an individual’s medical background with the environment and making sensible decisions about whether they should participate with a focus on diving, military deployments, offshore oil and gas and expeditions.

We cover:

Why preparation is the key to success!
Mapping the individual and their condition to the environment.
The key components of the ‘dive medical’, the role of respiratory and ENT problems
The unique challenges of a remote maritime environment.
A patient with a history of anaphylaxis to peanuts – can they be safely deployed to a remote oil rig that is over a day's travel from definitive care?
Doing a risk assessment - who is at risk and why - what can you do about it?
Proactive and reactive components of a risk assessment.
The issue of non-disclosure on health questionnaires. Helping the organisation asking the right questions in the first place!
The role of occupational medicine in protecting the individual AND the organisation (in that order).
Being able to back yourself when you feel exposed in your decision making and manage risk and uncertainty.
An approach to pre-existing mental health problems
Taking a positive approach: Screening people in rather than screening them out.
Why the UK military believe it’s important to join well, train well, live well, work well and leave well.
Identifying and managing the return and transition to an individual's normal home environment after a long deployment.
